antecedentes.

Temperature and Humidity. The comfort temperature for mice lies between 20-24ºC, changes in the

environmental temperature result in changes in the metabolic processes, changes

in blood supply of the organs and in the enzyme activity of the liver cell.

Mice have limited capability to thermoregulate, especially when they are

exposed to elevated temperatures.

Air humidity is the water-vapor contained in atmospheric air. Relative humidity

in % , is the relation between absolute humidity and the actual humidity content.

Laboratory mouse should be kept at a relativity of around 55% , but changes in

relative air humidity of up to +/-15% RH remain without considerable

consequences to the animal and without recognizable influences on the animal

experiment.

Modest increase in micro environment in Tª and RH be produce inside of cages

Housing conditions: macroenvironment and microenvironment

Qué es la Tª y HR % de confort ?. Capacidad de termorregulación.

Tª altas-bajas. Animales normotermos o politermos.

Fresh air changes:

Mouse holding rooms are ventilated with 100% fresh air at 15-

20 air changes per hour (ACH), depending on the population

density. Air velocities should not exceed 0.25m/s.

The fresh air requirements of the mouse are at 0.25m3 per hour.

Ammonia and carbon dioxide are originate in the animal room

from urea contained in the excretions of the animals, increased

ammonia concentrations in the breathed air cause and irritation

of the mucous membranes of nose, larynx and bronchi, going as

far as erosions of the mucous membrane, it increase

susceptibility to infectious diseases.

IVC produce up to 60 ACH, and it reduce Nh3 and CO2 levels
