SerifLas fuentes serif o de adorno tienen su origenen el pasado, cuando las letras se cincelabanen bloques de piedra, pero resultaba difícilasegurar que los bordes de las letras fueranrectos, por lo que el tallador desarrolló unatécnica que consistía en destacar las líneascruzadas para el acabado de casi todas lasletras, por lo que las letras presentaban en susextremos unos remates muy característicos,conocidos con el nombre de serif.
