•Start- created to to avoid working during the “hottest” time of the day, MIDDAY

•Break- since the largest meal is served in MIDDAY, a “siesta” serves as a nap period before returning to work.

•Time off- Businesses close at around 2pm and open at 5pm, while families go home and eat lunch together and take their “siesta”

•Schools- elementary students stay in school for their siesta, but middle school and HS go home for their siesta, then go back. (School finishes later)
