    Summary

    We have discussed the design and deployment of a newinspection system for hollow rail axles.

    1. A modular (subsystems ) design enables flexibility andadaptability.

    2. A cooperative approach enables the best use of availabletools and human expertise.

    3. The application of Inspection Automation to maximizeproductivity of the NDT process.
