How it all started.
World’s first solar water heater was installed in the U.S. at early 1900’s
It was a simple construction consisting mainly from a steel barrel placed inside an insulated wooden box with a glass on top,
For many years, solar water heaters were considered to be an expensive investment that “didn’t” pay for the price without any financial interest, until the financial crisis of early 50’s in Israel, led Levi Yissar, an Israeli inventor to complete his prototype solar collector and to establish the first solar water heater company in the World in 1953: NerYah.
The history of solar water heating had just begun, but it took several years for manufacturers to become able to produce effective solar water heaters at a reasonable price.
Greece was an early adopter of the new solar technology.
The first solar water heater appeared in 1974, and in 1980, 6 years after, there were more than 150.000 solar water heaters installed in Greece.
Today, more than 50% of Greek buildings have a solar water heater installed (more than 2.000.000 installed solar water heaters), and this makes Greece the 3rd European country in terms of installed domestic hot water solar heaters.
The Greek solar water heating market is a highly competitive market.
Solar water heating in Greece
Venman founder Mr Iordanis Kioupelis has been in the solar water heater market since early 1980’s when the Greek government subsidized the installation of solar water heaters, a thing that helped the Greek solar water heating market grow very fast.
With more than 20 invention patents in his energetic, most of which involve to solar energy, Mr Kioupelis started manufacturing high quality solar water heater tanks for the biggest heating distribution network at that time.Years before solar water heating standardization, Mr Kioupelis silently kept inventing and improving solar water heating products and created the first pure OEM solar water heating company in Greece. His dedication, perfectionism and professionalism, quickly led his company to success and today, he is considered to be an influencer in the Greek Solar water heating manufacturer circles.
Today, his company Venman is directed by his 2 sons, based in the same principles of honesty, dedication and professionalism.Venman is the leader OEM manufacturer in Greece, producing solar water heating products, including:
• high quality solar collectors• solar water heater tanks of any size up to 9.000lt, • compact natural flow solar water heaters, • food grade solar water heater expansion tanks • complete product range for the solar water heating market.

Quality StandardsAccording to the latest (high demanding) European standards, solar products must comply:
• EN 10130/2006 for metal steel sheets• Boiler insulation according to DIN 53420 / DIN 4102• Enameling according to DIN 4753-3• Pressure tests according to EN 12976-1• External covering according to EN 10204
Product quality must be certified from well known native and international organizations and laboratories like Democritus laboratories and TUV.The collectors are Solarkeymark certified. All manufacturing stages must include detailedquality control processes that ensureminimum product defect rates.
