de la Sierra) thrill which has turned out into a strong project

born more than fifty years ago.

It has conserved the wisdom of a millenarian culture

vines by hand, whilst they adapt and refine these techniques to the

necessities of the market.

in viticulture without forgetting tradition.

CALATAYUD

Calatayud

DO is located in the southwest in Zaragoza province, Aragón, next to the small country town which gives it its name.

It’s surrounded by the natural region of the river Ebro valley

(700-800 m above sea level), notable for the semi-arid continental climate.

Soil consists of red loam, marl, limey sandstone and even slate.

Vineyards and grape

de La Sierra vineyards

are located in the foothills of the mountain range Sierra de la

Virgen.

All of them are planted as bush vines, combining the centenary vines with the young ones.

Garnacha

and Macabeo

are the most used grapes.

has a very intense and extrovert bouquet. Its palate shows exuberant concentrated berry flavours and a touch of spiciness, supported by a magnificent structure, although the tannins are smooth.

It pairs very well with full flavoured meat dishes, particularly

lamb and game.

Garnacha

This Garnacha

is purple-coloured

with a nose of cedar, spice box, kirsch, and cranberry. Medium-bodied, with a solid core of fruit, good depth, and light tannins, this balanced wine can be enjoyed now and over the next

several years.

Made from old Garnacha

bush vines.

Ideal with full bodied dishes, especially with sirloin, lamb, roasted suckling pig and risottos.

Serve at 16ºC.
