Presentamos un año más la Memoria de gestión con unos datos que nos han llevado a situarnos entre los primeros puertos del sistema portuario español y a ser el segundo puerto de los 30 primeros puertos comerciales europeos, que más ha crecido en la última década. El año 2019 ha sido récord, con un volumen total de tráfico de mercancías de 33,8 millones de toneladas, resultados motivados por el buen comportamiento de los tráficos de graneles líquidos y sólidos, así como de la mercancía general, con un incremento de un 2,57% con respecto al anterior periodo 2018, frente a la subida del conjunto del sistema portuario español, que ha sido de un 0,19 %, algo que nos reafirma como nodo logístico de referencia en el suroeste peninsular. Al mismo tiempo, también es importante el acercamiento del Puerto a la ciudad y la relación con el entorno, por lo que, en la Convocatoria Puerto Ciudad de 2019, hemos aumentado el presupuesto hasta 200.000 euros y hemos incrementado acciones de patrocinio, colaborando con un total de 148 proyectos de Huelva, Palos y el entorno.

Los resultados de nuestro Estudio de Impacto Económico 2018 también han sido muy positivos, con unos resultados de empleo proveniente del Puerto de 25.979 empleos entre directos, indirectos e inducidos, esto supone el 12.5% del empleo de la provincia y el 0,8% del empleo andaluz. El Valor Añadido Bruto es de más de 2.600 millones de euros, el 27,7% del VAB de Huelva y el 1,8% del VAB de Andalucía. En relación con la ejecución de las inversiones de 2019, el pasado ejercicio iniciamos actuaciones fundamentales para ampliar y modernizar el Muelle Sur, además de finalizar la fase de planificación urbanística en relación con la remodelación del Muelle de Levante, poner en marcha las obras de remodelación de la Avda. Fco Montenegro y avanzar las obras de la Ciudad del Marisco. En cuanto a innovación, hemos puesto en marcha nuestro plan de transformación digital, en el que trabajamos en un nuevo modelo de gestión como puerto inteligente para afrontar los retos de una logística global y digital. Dentro de nuestras acciones para diversificar el negocio, se han llevado a cabo 127 acciones comerciales, además de estar presentes en más 13 jornadas de tipo técnico, destacando la consolidación de la Asociación para la Promoción Comercial del Puerto de Huelva, HuelvaPort, con su oferta integral de servicios.

Todas estas actuaciones y proyectos con inversiones ambientales previstas por valor de 40 millones de euros en los próximos años, recogidas en el Plan de Empresa, tienen un denominador común, un elemento transversal: trabajamos aportando a los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible marcados dentro de la agenda 2030 de la ONU que hemos incorporado a nuestro Plan Estratégico.

Como presidenta de la Autoridad Portuaria de Huelva puedo decir que, tal y como reflejan los resultados de esta Memoria 2019, todo el equipo de más de 200 profesionales que forma parte de esta organización, está firmemente comprometido con estos nuevos proyectos para la diversificación de la actividad portuaria, así como para la creación de oportunidades que impulsen el desarrollo económico y social de su hinterland, de una manera sostenible y respetuosa con el medio ambiente.

Yet again this year, we are publishing our Management Report with figures that place us among the leading ports of the Spanish port system and the second port of the 30 top European commercial ports that have posted greatest growth in the last decade. 2019 was a record year, with a total volume of freight traffic of 33.8 million tons, thanks to the strong performance of the solid and liquid bulk traffic, along with general freight, up 2.57% on the previous period 2018, compared to the rise posted by the Spanish port system overall (0.19%). This consolidates our position as a benchmark logistics hub in the south-west of the Iberian Peninsula. At the same time, the port-city outreach and the relationship with the surrounding areas are also important. We therefore increased the budget in the 2019 Port-City Call up to 200,000 euros and the number of sponsorship actions and helped a total of 148 projects in Huelva, Palos and surrounding areas.

The results of our 2018 Economic Impact Study were also very positive, with the Port generating 25,979 jobs including direct, indirect and induced ones, which accounts for 12.5% of the province’s employment and 0.8% of jobs in Andalusia. The Gross Value Added is over 2.6 billion euros, which is 27.7% of the GVA of Huelva and 1.8% of the GVA of Andalusia. As regards the implement of the 2019 investment, we started last year fundamental actions to extend and modernise the South Wharf, along with completing the urban planning phase for the remodelling the Levante Wharf, began the remodelling work on Avenida Fco Montenegro and progressed with the work on the Seafood City. As regards innovation, we have implemented our digital transformation plan, where we are working on a new management model as a smart port to address the challenges of digital and global logistics. As part of our actions to diversity the business, 127 commercial actions were carried out and we were also present at 13 technical seminars. Special mention should be made of the consolidation of the Association for the Commercial Promotion of the Port of Huelva-HuelvaPort, with its comprehensive range of services.

All these actions and projects involving planned environmental investments to the tune of €40 million over the coming years, which are set in the Corporate Plan, have a common denominator, a cross-cutting element: we are striving to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals set in the UN 2030 Agenda that we have incorporated in our Strategic Plan.

As Chair of the Huelva Port Authority, I should stress that, as can be seen from the results in this 2019 Report, the whole team of over 200 professionals that is part of this organisation, is firmly committed to these new projects for the diversification of the port activity, as well as for the creation of opportunities to drive the social and economic development of its hinterland, in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly way.
