RESEARCH SCIENTIST (M/F) - NEUTRON IMAGING - Duties: The LSS group comprises a range of instruments designed to carry out studies on the structure of matter on a scale of fractions of to hundreds of nanometers. These in-clude instruments for small-angle scattering, reflectometry, diffraction from single crys-tals or one or two-dimensionally ordered materials. The range of science covered is very broad, from polymer and colloid science through structural molecular biology to materials science and magnetic phenomena. The group is about to start a new public neutron imaging beam-line, based on a very successful pilot project (Next), which has been running for the last 3 years on the instrument D50. This new instrument will be world leader, also thanks to the uniquely high neutron flux, and will offer a panoply of imaging techniques from polarised neutron to simultaneous x-ray/neutron imaging. RESEARCH SCIENTIST (M/F) Within the Spectroscopy Group, the instrument IN16B is one of the world’s leading back scattering spectrometer. Equipped with various options (phase transformer, differ-ent analyser sets, Time of Flight inverse spectrometer, BATS) it has always been a partic-ularly creative development site for the technique as well as an outstanding source of publication record on various fields. It is ideally suited to high-resolution neutron spec-troscopy in the 0.1μeV – 200-μeV energy range. The instrument is also very much ap-preciated for its ability to receive specialised sample environment for combined meth-ods.
