How to use this catalogue

The 2007 Catalogue of Andalusian Audiovisual Works features details of products by companies either

based in Andalusia or in which an Andalusian company has participated as a co-producer, contributing at least 10% of the

funding. To qualify for inclusion in the catalogue, all products must also meet the following requirements: have received part funding from

the Cultural Department of the Regional Government of Andalusia, from a similar institution in another Spanish region, from the Spanish Institute of

Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts, from the European Union’s Media Programmes, or from the Council of Europe’s Euroimages Programme; have been

broadcast on a regional, national or international television channel; and have been nominated for festivals of recognised standing.

The catalogue, which is presented in DVD format, is accompanied by a leaflet with an index of the works featured. The DVD is available in the PAL-25fps format for viewing either on an ordinary home DVD reproducer or on a PC with a DVD reproducer and appropriate software. The content has been organised by genre and format (animation, short film, feature film, documentary, multimedia and television), and includes details

of the crew and cast for each product, a synopsis, a still photograph and, optionally, a trailer or promotional.

All the works featured in the various catalogues published by the Andalusian Audiovisual Foundation since 2004 can also be

accessed at www.avandalus.org, the Andalusian Film and Audiovisual Portal.

Produced by the Andalusian Audiovisual Foundation (www.fundacionava.org) – an agency of the RTVA Group (Andalusian Radio and Television) created to promote the strate-gic development of the various strands of the Andalusian film industry, including companies and individuals - the 2007 Catalogue of Andalusian Audiovisual Works is the fourth edition of the publication and has now conso-lidated its reputation as an effective promo-tional tool for publicising at national and international festivals the growing number of products generated by the Andalusian film and audiovisual industry.

The works featured in this latest edition reflect the efforts and creativity deployed by Andalusian companies and individuals in developing quality products in varying formats and genres. Animation, feature films and short films, documentaries, multimedia and television are all represented in this heterogeneous, practical and bilingual (Spanish and English) publication, which has also been sponsored by the Andalusian Foreign Promotion Agency (Extenda), the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX) and the Federation of Spanish Film Producer Associations (Fapae) for distribution in Europe, Asia and the United States.

In view of recent major advances in new information and communication technolo-gies, and the demands of the global economy, the Andalusian Audiovisual Foundation continues to explore new channels for exploi-ting the Andalusian audiovisual market. For example, this year it has launched Avándalus, the Andalusian Film and Audiovisual Portal (www.avandalus.org), with support from the Innovation, Science and Business Department of the Regional Government of Andalusia and input from the Andalusian production company associations AEPAA-APRIA and PECAA. Based on universal media such as the Network of Networks, Avándalus features all the works included in the various catalogues published since 2004. Meanwhile, the portal’s International Co-Production Opportunities section facilitates new co-funding channels for projects and/or films at the development, production, post-production and distribution phases.

Avándalus is therefore an innovative strate-gy adapted to the needs and demands of Andalusian film professionals. We hope that gradually it will enable the Andalusian film industry to transcend the region, and that it will create business opportunities for Andalu-sian companies and jobs for Andalusian professionals.
