Project

Field(s) photography (its history and pioneers), digital libraries

Description

We would like to be partners in a smaller-scale cooperation project.

We are particularly interested in projects dealing with photography (its

social and cultural history from the 1840s to 1918).

Context:

Sibiu is a town in nowadays Romania, a multicultural one thanks to its

Romanian, German and Hungarian inhabitants. The town has been

connected to Europe through the centuries, so it is not surprising that

during the fifth decennium of the 19th

century several itinerant

photographers from central Europe settled for some months or even years

in Sibiu. They joined the circle of local painters who also became

interested in practicing the new medium. The result of their interference

was shifting from painting to photography; consequently the first studios

were opened. Between 1854–1918 a rich activity was developed in the

field, in the town being active about 37 studios, some for only one or two

years, but others for decades. Concerning the techniques and subject

matter, the local photographers were synchronized with the central and

western European phenomenon, thus they produced portraits,

ethnographic pictures, landscapes and cityscapes, photos of historic

buildings and monuments, ceremonies, historic events. Unfortunately to

date there does not exist a monograph of all these important studios;

consequently we would be interested in another kind of approach, namely

a digital platform/ site to bring them together, and verify our hypotheses

that, similar to nowadays’ internet, early photography connected Europe

through techniques and subject matter. In the same time we would

demonstrate the European dimension and quality of photographs from

early Sibiu studios.

It also offers a great social programme to entertain you, see the city and surrounding region and meet with local Irish host choirs from Limerick.

Field(s) Choral

Description

Limerick Sings would like to connect with Choral groups in Europe to invite them to the Limerick Sings International Choral Festival in 2017. We would be very interested in developing partners in Europe to grow the festival and to create awareness within Choral Associations. We would like to create a network, build on partnerships and grow our database of contacts in Europe. We are researching innovative ideas to create a new element to the Choral festival reaching new and wider audiences. We hope to encourage professional development for choral singer’s careers. This year we have introduced a Come Sing Choral Workshop with Anuna’s Education Programme. For the 2017 Festival we will be using Digital Technology to video record and use drone recording of the Big Sing on the Cliffs of Moher. We would like to foster and exchange skills amongst partners e.g. training of other partner countries to invite choral groups to the Limerick Sings Choral Festival. Limerick Sings are actively sourcing Choral groups to introduce a new style of Choral Singing.

Living Lab, digital mediation, heritage and cultural mediation, innovative

technology, historic monument, museum, scenography, tourism, project

governance, Open Lab.

Description

Within the context of the European Heritage Year, the project aims at

creating « Living Labs » whose mission is to rethink part or all of a

historic monument or European museum’s tour circuits, in order to make

them more accessible to all publics.

A citizen-based method, these « Living Labs » will include public and

private stakeholders as well as individuals within a collaborative process,

and should include users early in the process.

Based on a cooperation principle, experience sharing and exchanging,

these « Living Labs » will bring together into groups all actors of a

production chain in order to think and implement the project on each site.

Thus, a « living lab » could gather local authorities, companies, research

laboratories, professionals in specific areas (such as heritage, mediation,

archaeology, scenography, digital, territorial marketing…), experts,

inhabitants and potential users. This group lasts for a given period of time

until the product inauguration and meets periodically during site

residencies.

The form, functioning of « Living labs » and guidance of projects will be

defined and realised in cooperation with all the European partners of the

project, would they be a hosting site, a public or private institution, a

company specialised in a relevant sector for this project (see the profile for

sought-after partners).

Looking for Partners

Countries Partner search is open to every Member States or Partners States outside

the EU.

Profile

We are looking for the following two types of partners:

1- Sites (monuments or museums), from medieval times or not, which

share the same underlying concerns and could possibly host a

« Living Lab » to respond to their own issues of evolutions of uses

and connection with the territory.

2- Universities, schools, private companies (start-ups in particular)

that may be interested in such cooperation. They should be

specialised in the following areas (non-exhaustive list): public

approach, mediation, museography, innovative technologies,

computer coding, storytelling, territorial marketing, tourism (e.g

tour operator), study of uses, sociology-ethnology, history,

archaeology.

Other

Actualizado 22/11/2017

Expected results:

1- Making the Living Lab a tool to rethink the vision of tourism and

heritage at the European scale in order to define, experiment and

experience new uses.

2- Developing a new open form of museographical development

project governance by putting the public at the very core of the

process in order to create new dynamics and enable a deeper

anchoring of these monuments and museums in their territories

using their (human) resources to exist, develop and evolve.

3- Raising awareness and reflecting on the evolution of uses and

professional activities which lie at the core of the current mutations

of our societies. For instance, cultural mediation is a changing

occupation which has to adapt and meet new audiences’

expectations. This project represents an opportunity to reflect on

current and future forms of mediation to be put in place within

heritage buildings and museum spaces.

Field(s) Le Secret des oeuvres - The Secret of works of art

Description

The Secret of works of art takes place within the 2018 European year of the cultural heritage. The Secret of works of art will be an original input to art for the youth, an access to a world which some of them ignore, don’t understand or judge elitist. Its first goal is to give access to the cultural heritage to a maximum of people. We want to attract towards art through an entertaining program which will make people want to go further (visit museum, search on the internet…)

We work with different tv transmedia formats and digital technologies. Involving the public

We want to build a public-spirited project in its goal but also by a participative aspect. The format will have to be easy to share on social medias and will have to be easily watched anywhere. In addition to the comments done on the accounts of the broadcasters, partner museums, or galleries, accounts The Secret of works of art will be created on social medias. By sharing and playing the internet-user citizens will become part of the project by sharing secrets as in a treasure hunt. This hunt, through European museums, will fascinate the young (students or not) and less young to create a real community. What ambitions ?

We intend to go further than just tv and internet broadcasting. The Secret of works of art could get into schools. By the script, the making, the particular voice-over and the mystery surrounding every episode, The Secret of works of art will be capable to attract the youngest towards the world of arts.

Who are we ?

The Cercle bleu productions were created in 1985 in the NPDC region. During twenty years, the PCB produced creative documentaries,

Actualizado 22/11/2017

television films, captations or live performances. In July 2002, the CBP has integrated the NepTV-Internep group, broadcast subsidiary of “RLVDN”, which works daily with TF1 (first European channel), the news channels LCI, I-Tele and the sports channel L’Equipe. We now produce documentaries, magazines, broadcasts of flow and coverages for TV news. Synopsis : The majority of museum visitors ignore that each painting revels a secret. A picture behind a picture, a painting that was extended years later, a character showing us a clue, an anachronism that nobody saw for hundreds of years. Secrets are everywhere, but you need to look for it to find it! This is the promise of The Secret of works of art. The Secret of works of art is an original entry to art for youth, an entry to a world that most of them ignore, don’t understand or judge elitist. It is about (re)discovering the work through its secret. This program revels as a police investigation but backwards. The story begins with the revelation of the secret to be found. The music underlines the tension, the effects of the making add almost an alarming note, the comments are made by a dark male voice. The Secret of works of art starts with a large view of the work. The view that everybody has. But an over-voice revels right away the secret the specificity of it by giving its secret away. For instance, a painting supposedly drawn by Jerome Bosch, “le concert dans l’oeuf”, is immediately said to be painted by somebody else. Then, we change of perspective. The camera shows the details of the painting, as a detective would use a magnifying glass. It’s time to revel the secret. As in the Bosch painting, a character shows a musical score. The secret is here. The musical score was written after the death of the painter. This proves that Bosch couldn’t have painted the work, it was somebody else. Who? We still don’t know. This is another force of the program. It ends by opening on a new mystery yet to be solved. At the end an actor explains the secret. This enables to introduce a character who speaks directly to the viewer and that humanizes the program.

Description

Our project idea is precisely about the prevention of wars, because our

museum is anti-war in character, so through this project we wish to try,

together with our partners, to recognize and mark all significant

characteristics and the pattern of the state in which any society or country

is found when they are on the brink of war or conflict, that is,

discovering what is the character of those pre-war states. This primarily

refers to the creation of the general air by the media, in the sense of

preparing the citizens for war.

This is intended as the realisation of the project’s results, which can be

in the form of documents as the final act of an international conference,

or in the form of impressions from the project participants, which can be

used in the sense of general prevention of war, i.e. the recognition of

that state when one society starts sliding towards conflict and war, and

when it is not too late to stop it.

Project realisation should be achieved through analysis and

problematising the power of symbols, as well by analysing the abuse of

art for the purpose of war propaganda, and other ways used to prepare the

people for a situation when an unknown individual takes up arms and

kills, or is killed, all because of generally unimportant notions for his

daily life, such as national pride, country’s international influence,

country’s flag and anthem, understanding collective uniqueness, and so

on.

Description

“Once upon a time, there will be…” is a large-scale cooperation project in the

performing arts sector that intends to produce new artistic works thanks to the

strong interaction between artists and citizens, second and third generations of

immigrants, across cities and countries.

“Once upon a time, there will be…” intends to create a dialogue within the city

(and therefore among communities living there, that often have not meaningful

contacts between them) and, thereafter, a cooperation between cities of Europe

using an interdisciplinary process that allows the creation of the new tales.

Fables and fairy tales have been identified as the literary genre to be adopted,

investigated, divulged and rewritten in the course of the project. For ages tales

have been the fire around which human communities have gathered, have

spoken, have overcame fear, have depicted crucial phases of their history and

reinforced their internal ties. The use of the archetypal and universal structural

elements of fables and fairy tales, will constitute the starting point for a dialogue

in the different local communities involved and, subsequently, the common

ground for the exchange between cities.

Description

Project: Mavka: the Forest Song To produce an unforgettable and innovative high-tech musical drama that will utilize modern and uncommon visualization techniques: computer-controlled light shows, augmented reality effects and animated backdrops. Highly trained dancers, skilled actors and other highly trained personnel will be involved in production of this play in order to make it an unforgettable experience in terms of visual, aural and dramatic performances. This theatrical performance will deal with such important issues:

- protecting environment: key elements of the play deal with relationship between people and their surrounding environment, and the impact human societies have on nature and endangered species, as well as society’s responsibility to protect nature;

- promoting cultural diversity, developing inter-cultural links: introducing European auditory to the culture and art of Eastern European nations while simultaneously promoting cultural links between actors and other participants partaking in the project;

- introducing innovative visualization and performance techniques: this theatrical performance will be accompanied with new innovative visual effects featuring light shows, animated scenery and complex choreographic and acrobatic feats.

With this project we aim to promote transnational circulation in the field of arts between Ukraine and other European countries in order to foster exchange of skills and to establish productive networks that would lay a foundation for future cooperation between all parties involved. About this project: This play is based on the traditional Slavic folk tale of Mavka – the forest spirit. As this is a fully developed idea you can find its synopsis below: “Since time immemorial, the vast Ukrainian forests have harbored countless secrets and unfathomable mysteries. They are home to wondrous mythical creatures dwelling among ancient trees, faithfully guarding their sacred realm.

Actualizado 22/11/2017

Mavka is a magical sylvan nymph. Her primary mission is to protect the Forest and its sacrosanct Heart — the source of life itself — against any aggression or intrusion, including on the part of humans. Lukash is an unassuming farm boy, who has a great love of music and pours his talent into playing the flute. It is largely thanks to Lukash’s music that a miracle takes place: Mavka and Lukash meet and fall in love. From the start, their union is pitted against formidable odds, but the obstacles loom even larger once the avaricious Evilyn arrives on the scene and sets about building a sawmill at the edge of the Forest. This serves as a façade to mask her true purpose: to get a hold of the Heart of the Forest — the key to which is Mavka herself, who is already rendered vulnerable by her blossoming feelings for Lukash. To get to Mavka, Evilyn wields Lukash as her weapon, and strikes anger and fear into the hearts of the villagers. Will Mavka and Lukash be able to defend their feelings for each other? Will Mavka be able to save the forest and protect her love? Will each of the two young lovers from different worlds make the right choice?” We hope to produce this play together with other European parties in order to present it on the European stage. That’s why we need your help. Target group: everyone - from children to adults. Activities: alongside the main theatrical performance we are planning to set up thematically related workshops, arts and crafts exhibitions, performances, all dealing with Slavic culture, arts, fashion and customs.

Short description

We are one of the oldest theatre dedicated to children and young

people in Poland – this year we have a 70th anniversary. Our repertoire

is aimed at the entire family and involves talented artists from Poland

and abroad. Each year the theatre gives around 300 performances,

watched by over 55,000 people. The plays produced include classical

works as well as contemporary children's and young adult literature for

audiences as young as 12 months. In addition, 'Miniatura' strives to

undertake non-standard activities such as the production of a theatre

detective series or activities aimed at entering the city's public space –

open-air performances, for example. The theatre's repertoire is

supplemented by events which accompany premieres or which are co-

produced with other cultural institutions, publishers or non-

governmental organisations. These include family workshops, open

meetings, panels and debates, book fairs, festivals or guest theatre

shows. Biannually we organize a festival “What’s new” dedicated to

new subjects and forms in theatre for children and young people. Last

edition, in 2016, was dedicated to theatre for young people, how to

make it and how to engage young people with theatre.

We have a vast experience in participating in grant schemes on

national level and some on the international – we were a leader in a

two-year “Blue Planet” project funded from EEA grants, realized in

cooperation with the Association of Independent Theatres in Iceland.

cities of 6 different countries. The leader of the project will be the University of

Economy in Bydgoszcz, while partnership will include cities from the following

Baltic Countries: Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

In the first stage of the project, a group of young artists representing partner

cities (eg musicians, artists, writers, etc.) and cultural professionals (cultural

workers, culture animators, etc.) will be formed. Each of the partner cities will

be represented by at least 3 artists (in different fields of art) and 2 persons

professionally associated with culture (total of 5 people from each partner city).

The recruited group (at least 30 people) will take part in 6 editions of the

"Festival of Art and Culture of the Baltic Countries" (successively in each partner

town).

Project participants will spend 2 weeks in each of the partner cities of the

project. During the stay there will be open artistic shows (eg concerts, recitals,

painting exhibitions), public lectures and discussions conducted by artists and

representatives of cultural institutions from different countries. Art exhibitions

will take place at designated places (the project partners' headquarters - eg the

campus of the university) and spontaneously at the most important points of

the city, in the form of street performances.

In order to activate and develop the local audience, creative workshops will be

organized. There will be an opportunity for interaction between the artists and

the audience during the course - interested individuals will be able to train in

the field of art or talk to artists. There will also be joint performances of artists

and members of the local audience on the mini-stage.

In each of the twin cities there will be meetings of project participants with local

representatives of the artistic and cultural industry. This will be an opportunity

to exchange views and undertake joint artistic activities. In addition, the project

will involve art experts who will conduct a series of workshops and for young

artists to develop their skills.

During each visit, the participants will learn about the partner city and its

surroundings. There will be visits to artistic and cultural institutions. Participants

will learn the history, culture and customs of individual countries and cities.

Proposed Creative Europe project

Field(s) Cultural Heritage, Art,

Actualizado 22/11/2017

Description

The background of the idea

Historic cities have throughout history been place of life and vivid events.

Squares and streets were most often a single and main place where everyday

life and work took place, where business was made, where generations of

citizens socialised, gossip, party. Towns’ hustle and bustle was all-round.

Nowadays towns streets and heritage hold the richness of the past and

provoke different feelings, memories, harmonies, stories.. when todays

generations stroll around or having coffee in the historic centre café. Although

the street life changed the beauty of the historic centres is infinitive.

The proposed project intends to link past and present and look beyond to the

future. We would like to create a 'European wide festival of a selected existing

quality local events taking place in historic sites (preferably historic towns)'

but adding them a new fresh dimension. By using the heroic legends, stories

from castles and manors, historic events as a 'leitmotiv' (moto-theme) we

would like to inspire (young) artists' and talents to interpret, express and

communicate the past to new visitors. The historic town centres, most often

protected as cultural heritage, shall become a scene for new artistic energy of

(preferably) young artists from different European countries and different art

disciplines: contemporary dance, visual creative arts (painters, sculptures.),

music, photography, multimedia and film. In parallel, it is possible to organise

side events such as workshops, talks or just an informal gathering evening

between artists and audiences in a smaller ambient (citizens of the historic

town). There shall be a joint festival branding and co-marketing established

between participating historic towns. The single events and workshops results

in a ' digital exhibition' presented as a common event at the end of the project.

Objective: bringing untraditional art contents and new audiences in historic

sites; promoting undiscovered historic cities/sites as a venue for innovation,

creativity and different art events; provide new learning opportunities for

young artists

Key activities:

- Festival and single event concept and brand design (September -

December 2018)

- Promotion of the idea among young talented artists in participating

cities/countries (December 2018-March 2019)

- Common promotional actions of the 'festival' ( March 2019- October

2019)

- Implementing single events and parallel workshops (April 2019 –

November 2019)

- Common final event - 'digital exhibition' (November – December2019

Description

Different cities - One Europe! We aim at creating a cultural exchange among three European cities/ locations .

Their common ground is not a specific chronological moment of reference, but

[here is the important]: When economic, commercial or industrial development met with cultural wealth

as a result of intense interactions with Europe.

During 19th century the city of Ermoupolis in Greece reflected a such succeed

story: A blooming economy due to its leadership in the Shipping industry,

commerce and manufacturing sector went hand to hand with a tremendous

cultural development that turned Ermoupolis into a “little Paris” in Greece. Its

present outstanding architectural legacy derives from that time.

We would like to work together with three other European cities that at a

precise historic time lived that "happy moment" of cultural development as a

result of economic progress not in the isolation but in close interaction with

Europe. Indicative Actions to be considered and undertaken : Art in Public Space / Video installation art & Augmented reality game in

public space

1. Video installation art on buildings inspired by the community and its history.

The idea is that the works inspired by the legacy of a city willl be displayed on

the buildings of the other city and vice versa.

2. Create an Augmented reality game on smartphones. Audience will learn stories about all three participating locations.

Audience Development [focus on young and elderly people]

3. Learning programs focusing on video installation and augmented reality

targeting people from all sectors of art, science and technique.

4. We enhance the dissemination of intangible attributes of the cultural heritage,

inviting elderly people to share the oral tradition of past generations in the form

of storytelling and narratives.

5. We call the inhabitants to build a virtual genealogy tree where at least one of

their ancestors will live in the 19th century. A site specific installation will be

held with the help of artists. How he lived, what he did, how the family and the

city evolved.

Name Serbian Literaty Society, Belgrade

Short

description

The Serbian Literary Society is an independent association of writers,

established on a professional basis in order to preserve the artistic and

ethical values and material interests of the profession.

The Serbian Literary Society finds that the period of social, political and

moral disintegration of our culture can be overcome only by a systematic

affirmation of traditional as well as new values in the Serbian literature

and by regaining the esteem of the literary profession which has lost its

artistic basis and its prestige due to a strong political influence on the

literary life and the enforcement of nonestetic criteria on literature. The

Serbian Literary Society expresses its intention to re-establish and restore

the inetrrupted connections with the cultures and literatures of its

neighbouring countries and the rest of Europe.

The European Framework

The basis objective of the Serbian Literary Society is to harmonize the life

and work of our writers with European criteria. As far as aesthetic and

poetics are concerned, the Serbian literature is European in the true

meaning of this word, but the literary life has suffered, for decades, under

the consequences of an undemocratic society. This influence must be

minimized.

The Serbian Literary Society represents the contemporary Serbian

literature and rejects intolerance in any form. It is first and foremost a

professional association of established writers. It supports differences and

the right to dissimilarity. Strictly speaking, the only decisive factor which

unites the members of the Society is the language in which they are

writing, and the culture to which they belong (although this shouldn`t be

taken too literally). Its members are writers from different generations, of

different poetics, with different political views. They have a common wish to defend their professional

Actualizado 22/11/2017

interests and an intention to improve the culture to which they belong.

Activities

The basic activity of the Serbian Literary Society is the care of the social

position of its members: social security, copyright, the change of the

public treatment of their work and, finally, the influence on State

institutions to procure instruments for protecting the book and literature. In

order to achieve its declared values, the Serbian Literary Society has, up to

now, concentrated its activities on the publication of its periodical and in international co-operation.

Description

Project : Writers for Writers

Program of Support for Socially Imperiled Writers

Together with partners from other European countries we consider

position of socially imperiled writers of contemporary literature, we

identify their problems and needs. We search for ways to improve status of

imperiled writers by connecting at the European level and by the exchange

of experiences and cooperation. To that effect, partners will first examine

and then identify problems and needs of imperiled writers. Faced with

small public funding, we look for alternative ways to improve status of

socially imperiled writers. By establishing the Fund for Imperiled Writers,

Serbian Literary Society had already launched a program of help for

socially imperiled writers of our society. Fund's means were obtained

through humanitarian actions of the Society, by voluntary payments of

Society members, by endowments and legate, by the means obtained

through other social funds and non-governmental organizations, and

incomes realized through heritage in the interest of the fund. Statute of the

Fund for Imperiled Writers came into force on May 12, 2016.

Project Goals:

Actualizado 22/11/2017

1. Promotion of inclusive approach and cultural diversity, testing, implementation and evaluation of sustainable model of help and support for socially imperiled writers on the basis of systematic, methodical and objective investigative approach toward problems by taking into account the principle of relation of literature and society.

2. Strengthening of knowledge and vision of the professionals; adoption of techniques for improvement of the status of the imperiled writers in other European cultural organizations. Studying and involving audience whom writers are addressing to and whom they depend on financially, writers' impact upon society so as the relation of literary production and its economical basis.

3. Support for socially imperiled writers not only by financial

strengthening of the Fund but also by adopting new knowledge,

experiences and skills, that will strengthen their position in the

community.

Background:

External factors are changing, public funding is decreased, writers stay

without fees, without steady source of income; there is a lack of interest in

the existing offering, unavailability of literary authority,

uncommunicativeness; lack of cooperation among socially imperiled

culture, biology, agriculture, economics, ethnology and others. In terms of

activities, the project will primarily focus on the development of the business

model in the field of cultural heritage, and in addition, numerous exhibitions,

presentations, educational programs, research work, fairs, conferences, etc.

The initial idea was already realized by the Project and author's exhibition " The

Old and Indigenous Fruits of Serbia" 2013-2017), in which the problem of the

disappearance of old fruit varieties in Serbia was presented in an attractive and

scientific way. Two themes have been highlighted: the erosion of the

autochthonous genotypes and the preservation of agro-biodiversity and

traditional knowledge related to the rural environment.

In the period 2013-2017 the exhibition was exposed 28 times in the museums all

over Serbia and it has over 40,000 visitors, as well as visible media campaign.

The great interest of the visitors was also the motive to preserve in the yards (in

sity) the dissapearing fruit varieties, as well as traditional knowledge in the

proccesing of fruit as a unique heritage.

Within the project Museum in the yard: indigenous varieties of Europe

Actualizado 22/11/2017

through various activities (exhibition, publication, panel discussion, product fair,

mapping of households in selected villages, etc.) partners from different

European countries would deal with the preservation of their indigenous and

traditional varieties not only of fruits, but also of vegetables and cereals, related

to their use and inheritance of personal stories of the population that are related to

the history of breeding. One of the most important activities would be the

formation of a "museum in the yard" and working with the local population,

where it would be aimed at motivating the audience for interactive participation

in the research and preservation of various varieties of their area.

The priorities of the project are the development of the audience and the

development of the business model in order to sustainability of the heritage

preserve. Through the integrated activities of partners from participating

countries, each country could present its traditional varieties of fruits, vegetables

or cereals to promote experience and knowledge in use in the processing of

autochthonous products, with an emphasis on their preservation and

sustainability for future populations.

Through participatory activities with the public, attention is paid to the

importance of preserving the cultural heritage of natural resources and the

specificities of all parts of Europe.

Description

Carnival traditions spread across Europe originate from pre-Cristian

customs. Such is the tradition of bell ringers that by ringing their bells

chase away the winter and welcome in the spring. These customs are

present in various forms all over Europe.

Many bell ringer groups are active in the wider area of the City of Rijeka.

Most of them (11 groups) have been inscribed in the List of cultural

goods of the Republic of Croatia and the Representative List of the

Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 2009. Other groups of

bell ringers are not inscribed in the mentioned lists, as their history is

recent and they yet need to confirm their status of cultural tradition.

However, all bell ringer groups in the wider area of the City of Rijeka

exhibit exceptional vitality and most are growing in terms of

Intangible culture, music, fashion design, multimedia

RIJEKA 2020 llc

members. There is also a tendency to establish new groups.

The aim of this project is to examine what the bell ringers’ tradition

represents in the context of contemporary society, against which "ghosts"

they fight today, and through contemporary art practices, provide an

alternative vision of bell ringers in the 21st century.

Contemporary trends do not bypass small bell ringer communities,

although they are pillars of tradition having strict rules for membership,

they also have to adapt to the demands of today's society, while the

tendency of forming new cultural practices (creation of new traditions)

gives rise to both theoretical and artistic considerations.

Over two years, the project would have the task to examine European bell

ringers’ customs as source for new artistic contents. This will link

together different parts of Europe that share a common tradition, while

artistic productions would promote common heritage.

The bell ringers' traditions as cultural heritage will be used as source of

inspiration for artistic creations (mainly through international residency

programmes), in particular in three fields: music, design and multimedia.

1. The first online database of bell sounds of European bell ringers will be created. The bell sounds will be registered across Europe and collected in the digital data base. The data base will be expanded over the years and even after the end of the project. Next, an international open call will be launched to select musicians who would create music using the bell ringer sounds. The resulting compositions can have various creative and research purposes: as musical base for performances, theatre plays, dance performance etc. 2. A set of activities focuses on the design and creation of a contemporary image of bell ringers, that will result in creation of "alternative" bell ringers’ costumes and designing fashion pieces inspired by bell ringers tradition. 3. A mobile application in the form of a game on bell ringers, that will perhaps be the best promoter of heritage, but also an excellent way to learn about European bell ringer traditions. The mobile application will also allow all users to become bell ringers, regardless of strict rules on bell ringer groups membership, thus contributing to the creation of new traditions.

Short description

Since 1990, the Arhitext magazine and the Arhitext Design Foundation constantly survey the architectural and urban phenomenon in Romania and abroad. Our constant aim was to foster a new cultural climate in post-socialist Romania, opening multiple paths of mutual knowledge between East and West. Our actions were always guided by an interdisciplinary mindset: we are committed to a comprehensive and critical approach towards contemporary society and culture, constantly working to identify valuable architectural creations, to investigate their general context, and to disseminate information and critical thought about local building culture.

Besides the Arhitext magazine, founded in 1990, our editorial production includes a vast array of book series, ranging from monographs of important Romanian architects to original theoretical works of local scholars, or valuable translations of books by internationally acclaimed theorists. The array of cultural events organized by the Foundation since 1993 was initially meant to explore local architecture and to investigate its position in a rapidly changing political and cultural context. Every two years, the Arhitext Design Prizes thus set a high standard for the critical appraisal of current architectural production. After a few years, we gradually began to build a comprehensive framework for multidisciplinary events, connecting the architectural field with various artistic and urban networks. Summer schools reuniting artists and architects were followed by the Arhitext Festival, a large, national event held every two years between 2005 and 2011. Its last edition included a notable international presence, which catalysed its transformation toward a major regional event – the East-Centric Bucharest Triennale, held in 2013 and 2016 – thus setting a far-reaching framework for a Central and Eastern European large scale cooperation platform between different building cultures and intellectual traditions. Meanwhile, various exhibitions, roundtables, itinerant training sessions, student competitions and international workshops strengthened our position as a leading actor in the Romanian and regional cultural field.

Project

Field(s) Architecture and Society; Theory and Criticism of Architecture and Urbanism

Description

THE APPROACH

The contemporary cultural condition is defined by major and very dynamic transformations concerning our common way of dwelling the world. Changes in people's modes of existence meet other radical changes in the way our cities are conceived and our houses are built. Far from being a narrowly focused discipline, contemporary architectural culture is permeated by a desire to understand these facts from various interdisciplinary perspectives. In the same time, today's critical endeavours are deeply aware that regional and trans-national connections are an integral part of any thorough exploration of these phenomena. Central and Eastern Europe, as a geographical and cultural reality, is deeply involved in those changing realities. The rapid post-socialist transformations intensified and made visible, often more forcefully than in the West, many characteristic aspects of the (post-)modern social, political, and cultural condition. Competent and dedicated professional groups are working in the last few years, in different Central and Eastern European countries, aiming at a critical exploration of our region's entangled web of cultural influences, social modes of existence and building practices. The Arhitext Design Foundation's multiple activities contribute to this regional effort: the Arhitext magazine and the various exhibitions, conferences, or published books survey the social and architectural fields, identify major topics of interest and open new paths for the future. The East-Centric Architecture Bucharest Triennale was born in this spirit four years ago, in 2013. After two editions focused on theoretically-charged topics, we aim to propose for the 2019 edition a more accessible theme – Home. Our approach is meant to open up even more the entire event, and to foster new ways of communication between the general public and the architectural milieu. This is to be done around an eminently relevant topic of interest, especially in the context of the previously mentioned structural transformations of social life and the city. Moreover, we recognize the importance of deepening the European collaborative approach, which was from the beginning an integral part of the Triennale spirit, having brought together regional practices with acclaimed international speakers, like Juhani Pallasmaa, Alberto Pérez-Gómez, Willem Jan Neutelings, Terunobu Fujimori, or Dietmar Feichtinger. For the 2019 edition we are actively searching to open a more consistent dialogue with potential partners, which could play an

Actualizado 22/11/2017

active role in the definition of the event programme and of its curatorial framework. Consequently, the Triennale will be able to fulfil its mission to actively promote critical dialogue between professionals of the built environment and the general public, and to foster transnational cooperation and dialogue, asserting our common European identity and critically exploring regional affinities. PROJECT STRUCTURE AND CONTENT

The project will be developed as a process of critical exploration, survey, evaluation and dissemination of contemporary architecture from Central and Eastern European countries. From mid-2018, a dynamic series of preliminary steps, conceived together with our partners, will allow the deployment of two base modules, enhanced by a series of variable events: exhibitions, keynote speakers conferences, open debates, thematic workshops (involving practitioners and students alike). All those events will be coordinated with the future partners, which will be able to propose their own curatorial concept for specific series of activities.

1. The thematic module will focus on a main theme, meant to address and build upon some of the most vibrant strata of contemporary architectural culture. The whole process culminating in the 2019 Triennale will explore today's practice and theory through the Home lens and will try to build an acute critical awareness of various connections between this thematic cluster and the many stakeholders of contemporary urban culture: architects, urban studies and design professionals, social sciences specialists, philosophers, and the general public. This module could be split into two sub-modules: project- and, respectively, theory-based.

a) The first, practical sub-module's activities could include: Forming an international multi-disciplinary working team

(together will our future partners), whose mission will include researching and critically evaluating the region's architecture from the last 3 years.

Elaborating a more precise thematic framework, including all related selection criteria.

Launching a pan-regional open call for projects. Analysing the entire body of work, surveying and selecting

the most relevant works (in relation with the conceptual framework of the project).

Elaborating a set of conclusions for the process, through a thematic exhibition and an associated catalogue; these should include critical texts commenting upon the main

Actualizado 22/11/2017

theme and its connections with architectural and urban culture.

Itinerating the exhibition to the partners' cities, and integrating it into specific localised cultural strategies.

b) The second, theoretical sub-module's activities could include: Forming an international multi-disciplinary jury (together

with our future partners), charged with the critical evaluation of theoretical works, assessment of and commenting upon the process.

Establishing a precise thematic framework, including related selection criteria, in order to stimulate critical analysis and reflection upon some of the visions, concepts and philosophical ideas that subtend or explain our contemporary condition.

Launching an international open call for texts addressing the proposed topics of interest.

Analysing the entire body of work and operating a selective assessment of submitted texts.

Public presentations of nominated essays by the authors, followed by focused debates at the 2019 Triennale.

Final jury work, nominating winners of the essay competition.

Elaborating a set of critical conclusions and general cultural commentary of the process, to be included in an edited book, together with nominated essays.

2. The East-Centric Arhitext Awards

The second module of the project could be the East-Centric Arhitext Awards, bringing together the most valuable architectural works of the past three years, from Central and Eastern European countries. Starting in 2018, an international jury, led by a renowned professional, will be charged with a multiple-phase, thorough assessment of contemporary architectural production, culminating in the designation of winners for each section of the competition, at the end of the 2019 Triennale. Every nominated project is to be publicly presented by the authors; subsequent debates will enhance the general cultural relevance of the process. Staying committed to the cooperation with future partners, the exhibition of nominated projects will be itinerated to the partners' cities, following a commonly agreed cultural strategy.

OUR FUTURE PARTNERSHIPS

Building upon the two previous editions of the Bucharest Triennale (2013 and 2016) and the pilot edition of 2011, we aim to enlarge the

Actualizado 22/11/2017

creative intellectual resources for thoroughly surveying Central and Eastern European architecture, its pan-European importance and connections, and its relevance for critically understanding common global challenges. We are convinced that this endeavour would be better served by enhancing dialogue and by connecting valuable, already established clusters of professionals, working together for a better critical assessment of our common cultural condition. In this spirit, we are trying to establish partnerships with organisers of other regional events, or with institutions involved in the architectural field from our region and beyond, inviting them to join the project as partners, and applying together for a financial grant from the European Union, in the Creative Europe programme framework. Upon establishing a preliminary agreement, we are ready to present details of our operational approach, to receive suggestions, and to discuss the project's content and schedule, integrating each partner's contribution.

Short description

The Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Kraljevo is a public institute that carries out professional and administrative tasks in order to achieve the preservation of immovable and corresponding movable property and intangible cultural heritage.

Actualizado 22/11/2017

Main tasks are: identifying, evaluating and documenting cultural heritage, preparing proposals for entering heritage into the register kept by the Ministry of Culture, drawing up conservation plans and restoration projects, supervising building, research and protective undertakings; and their implementation, supervising and executing archaeological surveys, providing helpful advice to owners of cultural heritage as well as education and popularization. Our Institute, as a regional cultural institution, was founded in 1965 and deals with the protection of cultural heritage in the territory of 25 municipalities (approximately the whole southwestern part of Serbia). This part is characterized by a large number of monuments from prehistoric period to the new century, but certainly widely recognizable by medieval fortresses, churches and monasteries from the period of the formation of the Serbian state (XI-XV century). Over the past 50 years, the Institute has done dozens of successful projects to protect and promote rich Serbian heritage, some of which today enjoy sustainable development. Another advantage of our Institute is developed network collaboration with local institutions of culture and science (institutes, faculties, museums, galleries, theaters, etc.), local governments, tourist organizations, Institute for nature conservation of Serbia and the local population in the territory we cover. Short description

Pro Media Production is a Belgrade based agency which has been operating successfully since March 2009 taking part in various activities pertaining to the development of culture. Presently, Pro Media Production is intensively working on forming and creating a digital TV and Radio channel intended for the LGBT population. The Channels are to be hosted on Google’s platform Youtube, as well as on other social media platforms and landpages on the internet. Though the programs and content of these Channels are

Actualizado 22/11/2017

mainly designed to meet the needs of the LGBT population, people of other sexual orientation will also have the opportunity to perceive and comprehend that LGBT individuals who are living among them have the same life problems and issues as they do, but with one big exception… being constantly marginalized. Our goal is to deliver a well organized media space to gay people, where they can bring forth all of their interests and create a content which does not marginalize them but which will connect them with other people that live and work in Serbia, through a channel that has never existed here before. Ideas for pilot versions of popular and educational programs and contents that we believe will be interesting to the LGBT population, and those who are not a part of the LGBT community, have already been laid down.

Field(s) Creative industries/ new business models

Description

During the preparation of this channel the team leading this agency (a psychologist and psychotherapist, a gay activist who is also a successful entrepreneur even though an outed Gay, and a marketing manager and media producer) have concluded that one of the main problems of the gay population in Serbia is their employment, especially in smaller communities and environments. Detailed research done on this subject proved our conclusion right. Thereby, after consulting people at the of Creative Europe Desk Serbia, the agency came up with an idea to deliver a project which would encourage LGBT individuals to start their business in culture. Thus, with the help of competent people in this field, who are a part of our agency, and potential partners, we could stimulate the development of entrepreneurship in the field of culture. In turn this would help a marginalized group of people, of whom there are a large number of talented individuals, to start up and build numerous, prosperous and efficient business projects in a wide range of fields depending on their interests, such as: digital art, video production, cultural inheritance, fashion, photography, music, etc.. Thanks to the broad range of activity that our agency has,

Actualizado 22/11/2017

everything they would like to build would be placed and delivered to the community at large, and thus in a short period of time it could become self-financed and self-preserved. By encouraging these people through the project to start their own businesses we propagate the values and ideas of the European Community which this country pretends to be a part of. During the process of working on this project we will write and print a manual/handbook that could later on be of help and service to other institutions that would engage in similar projects and at the same time would note and record the life stories of LGBT individuals who will be a part of this project, as a unique form of cultural heritage for future generations.

For us as an agency, it would be of great importance to collaborate on this project with a European partner, possibly with a partner from the EU that has the experience with similar projects, unnecessarily LGBT concentrated yet focused on marginalized groups (even though the LGBT population is our main target and our plan is addressed to them). We would prefer to have more than one partner involved in the project, and for one of these partners to be the project leader. We would also like to have as a partner a creative company open to an innovative approach to business and its development, preferably from the region of Southeast Europe. One of the potential partners of this project with whom we are negotiating is one of the local organizations that has for years now been engaged in supporting gay rights in Serbia.

Project

Field(s) Cultural Heritage

Description

We see clear remnants from the historical interaction with the Germans and

the Dutch in the archaeological and historical material in Son in Eastern

Norway, as well as in our immaterial heritage as in language and phrases.

Identity-markers as we today interpret as “typical Norwegian” are actually

a result of interaction by Dutch traders and import of German goods going

back to the Middle Ages. To find out how this interaction with Norway

have affected German and Dutch cultural heritage and in which capacity,

we need a European collaborative approach to access their collections and

expertise.

The project proposed aims at reinforcing a sense of belonging to a common

European space, by showcasing how cooperation and trade routes have

affected cultural identity in three countries, and beyond. We will challenge

the concept ”Typical Norwegian –or Typical Dutch” etc., in keeping with

the priorities of The European Year for Cultural Heritage 2018. A key-element in the project will be to communicate the results/findings to

the general public. We suggest two possible angles:

1. Physical – for example an exhibition that can be presented to the

public in the three countries.

2. Digital – for example a website or a mobile application.

We will work together with our partners to develop innovative and efficient

methods for reaching and engaging our audiences.

Communicating our cultural heritage to the public is an important part of

archaeologists from Akershus County Council. The project is part of the

national education program «The Cultural Rucksak» and has been a big

success since we started in 2007. Every year 600 schoolchildren from the

Follo-region get acquainted with their local heritage as they excavate goods

from16th – 18th century, and get to know stories about how the Dutch

sailors traded German goods in exchange for timber in the Son-area. Read

Description

The project proposals:

1. EDUCATIVE CLASS

(An environment dedicated to the Sector of Educational

Programs)

The education is one of the key activities of museums, along with the

preservation, research and presentation of museum objects. Museums,

which have gathered the civilization and experience of mankind for

centuries, together with universities, scientific and research

institutions, represent valuable sources of education. As a unique

intermediary between the historic object and the cultural heritage,

museums offer unlimited opportunities in the field of education.

The educational programs are an important element for the recognition

of our culture. The museum reflects quality, professionalism and

passion on others; it aims to raise people's awareness to visit it. The

didactic programs offered to different age groups are conceived as a

useful opportunity for museum recognition, works and preservation.

each sector will interact independently with each other.

c) Creating a program that will be preinstalled on an electronic

device that will serve as a Mobile Interactive Guide (MIG).

d) Creating a web application, this will be part of the Museum’s

website.

e) Creating of a smartphone applications where visitors will be able

to consult the reduced information regarding museum objects.

The construction of this infrastructure enables the centralization of all

information in a database, which will supply all technological

interfaces with information. Through PCs and smartphones, the

visitors can, wherever they are, access general information about the

museum and any objects. The information can be used in different

languages.

Through this project, a wider audience is reached, offering more

access to history and cultural heritage. We aim to create an interactive

community among experts, curators and public. The extensive

information for visitors in several languages is offered. The visit at the

museum will be more attractive, as well as adding essential services to

the public and museum visitors.

conservation field, in marketing and communication field)

a) The Collections Management Sector is responsible for recording,

documenting, searching and storing collections, such as those that

are exposed and those in funds, in collaboration with the

Collections Conservation Sector.

We propose exchanges of cultural actors in order to increase the

capacities and enabling employees to acquire new skills to adapt the

new management models. We propose training and workshops in the

collection management field.

b) The Collections Conservation Sector studies the state of the

exhibited objects and funds of the National Historical Museum and

compiles concrete projects for the conservation of different objects

according to scientific criteria. This sector designs and carries out

conservation projects on cultural heritage objects, takes care of the

maintenance of museum facilities.

including press releases and other media communications.

We propose exchanges of cultural actors in order to increase the

capacities and enabling employees to acquire new skills to adapt to

new communication models. We propose training and workshops in

the field of marketing and communication.

Description

The Museum of Corruption The Museum of Corruption is an interdisciplinary platform for the formation of a collection of mechanisms of corruption, both in legal and ethical terms, through a practical, theoretical and critical assessment using artistic research and contemporary museology.

Actualizado 22/11/2017

By thematising corruption, the project will not only challenge the idea of the museum as an institution that cares for a collection of objects of artistic, cultural, etc. value, but also as a cultural laboratory or a catalyst to expressing controversy and dissent. Paraphrasing Kazimir Malevich and Soviet avant-garde that museums are graveyard of art, the project aims to extinct corruption from real life by making it an exhibit in the museum. Similar to a work of art that in a gallery loses its charge, a corruption placed in a museum should become a portable object disengaged from its ability to corrupt. The project partners from the Balkans, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia will examine at least 10 notorious cases in each and every of these capitals aiming to find their common ground. The findings will be represented in a form of transmedia story-telling, from documentary film, theatre play to visual arts. Project

Field(s) MUSIC, FINE ART, EXHIBITIONS, DIGITAL (3D ANIMATION AND PROJECTION MAPPING), LIVE STREAMMING.

Description

Project Title : “REVELATIONS”

Project Synopsis

Actualizado 22/11/2017

This project, through its activities, aims to bring together a

collective of cultural actors in the fields of music and fine art by

engaging them, through their artistic expression, to create and

present contemporary works inspired by a unique text of great

European cultural value: The Apocalypse – The revelations of

St John the Divine. The text which forms the last chapter of

the New Testament, written in Greek on the island of Patmos

over two thousand years ago, has inspired artists over the ages

and still intrigues and inspires people around the world who

come across it, regardless of their religious preference.

In this project, the collaborating cultural actors, musicians,

singers, painters, digital artists, etc, are asked to present a

symphonic oratorio composed by award winning Greek

composer Tassos Ioannides, based on the original text of the

Apocalypse, and to create a collection of contemporary

paintings based on themes and images inspired by the holy text.

This series of paintings will form the material for an exhibition

travelling to all the participating countries. The paintings will

also form the setting for an immersive visual stage environment

that will accompany the performances, after it has been digitally

reproduced by world renown 3D animation and projection

mapping artist Stathis Mitsios.

The performances will be streamed live through the internet.

PROPOSED PROJECT ACTIVITIES

- 1) PERFORMANCE OF THE ORATORIO

“APOCALYPSE – THE REVELATIONS OF ST

JOHN”

- “Apocalypse” is a major work of ninety minutes

duration, written for full symphony orchestra, mixed

chorus, two tenors, a soprano, a baritone and a

narrator. In this oratorio, the music is at the service

of the word; sometimes with choral or orchestral

approaches reminiscent of ancient Greek drama,

breaking to polyrhythmic sequences, at other times

Actualizado 22/11/2017

with hymns of praise, “dipping in” to Byzantine

melismatic melodies and yet at other times with

sonic “explosions” which carry us into John’s vision

like a science fiction film. A work that brings to a

vivid conversation elements of a western symphonic

musical language with eastern Mediterranean colors

in melody and rhythm.

Composed by Tassos Ioannides while “In

Residence” in the very monastery on the island of

Patmos where St John the Divine wrote the text, the

work will be performed in the language of the

participating partner country. To this end the

composer will work with a selected librettist to

transfer the work into the language of the

participating partner and make appropriate musical

adjustments if required. Each country partner will

undertake the production of the performance which

requires a symphony orchestra and mixed chorus.

The six soloists required for the performance of the

work will be selected from all participating countries

by agreement with the composer and the artistic

directors of each participating partner. The

performances will be streamed live through the

internet in “high definition” quality to maximize

audience potential reach and the creation of new

audience.

This work was commissioned by the Australia

Council for the Arts (Tassos is a Greek/Australian).

2) COMMISSIONING OF SIX ARTISTS AND

TRAVELLING EXHIBITION

Six artists, one from each participating country, will

be commissioned to paint seven paintings each

based on themes drawn from the holy text of the

Apocalypse. The selection of these artists will be

Actualizado 22/11/2017

done jointly by all partners. Participating artists can

be of various religious preferences. It is intended

that at least one of the selected painters be of

refugee status. The work produced will be toured

and exhibited at suitable venues in all participating

countries when the performances are taking place,

to give momentum to the promotional strategies

adopted.

3) ICONOGRAPHY PAINTING

WORKSHOPS/MASTER CLASSES

The six artists will participate in a series of

Byzantine iconography painting workshops/master

classes given by experts in the field which will take

place on the island of Patmos. The participating

painters will be exposed to techniques in

iconography and mosaic iconography, a unique

painting methodology developed over several

centuries. In this way, the participating artists will be

given the opportunity to experiment and explore

combining contemporary with Byzantine painting

techniques and technotropies.

4) 3D ANIMATION AND PROJECTION MAPPING

The series of paintings produced by the

commissioned artists will form the raw material for

world renowned 3D animation and projection

mapping artist Stathis Mitsios to produce an

immersive and dynamic visual stage environment

that will accompany the performances. The intent is

to extend a video projection beyond that of just a

simple screen, allowing it to become part of the

performance and its dramatic essence, extending

the visual action in the performance space beyond

the traditional stage and incorporating the audience

into the setting.

Actualizado 22/11/2017

5) LIVE STREAMING OF THE PERFORMANCES

The performances in all countries will be streamed

live over the internet through a dedicated

website/platform. In this way the project will explore

the potential of new audience development and

aspire to reach a global audience.

Based on the text of the Apocalypse, such an

important part of the European heritage,

“REVELATIONS” is a project with the potential to

become an artistic landmark that will promote and

encourage the sharing and appreciation of Europe's

cultural heritage, that will help raise awareness of

our common history and values, and will reinforce a

sense of belonging to a common European space.

After all, Christianity forms an important part of the

community fabric in Europe. It is a common

European cultural space, perhaps one of very few.

Description

Šabac had a significant Jewish population before WWII. They were very important for the overall development of the community. Their population suddenly increased due to Jewish immigrants from Central Europe countries who tried to reach Palestine. They were rejected by British authorities, so they were settled in Šabac due to a decree of the Yugoslav government. They are known in historical science as a Kladovo Transport. City authorities and citizens were hosting 1200 persons. By that time, Šabac had only 15000 citizens. Almost 10% of population were immigrants. They lived in the city between 1939 and 1941. They were all died during the Holocaust. To preserve memories of them and tragic events, City authorities decided at the end of 2015 to purchase the building of the former Synagogue, which was abandoned and devastated. We envisage Jewish Museum Šabac as a modern cultural institution. Not just a place preserving material heritage, but more likely a place for meetings and dialogue, a cultural and educational centre. We have organized numerous programmes, concerts, panel discussions, lectures, and conferences promoting openness and tolerance. Even though we do not have a defined project idea, we want to participate in a project that would deal with involuntary migration with partners from territories which had a similar history or who are facing a similar situation today.

Actualizado 22/11/2017

We are also interested in all projects oriented toward audience development, especially those targeting the youngest population in order to prevent any xenophobic attitudes. Projects which are based on interpretation of heritage throughout contemporary arts, especially visual arts and exchange of artists.

Project

Field(s) Performing arts – Puppetry, Theatre, Street Art

Description

EastWest has as its main objective to facilitate the development of sustainable creative relationships between puppet theatres in eastern and western Europe. Artists, audiences and organizations at both a local and transnational level will cooperate for the production, presentation and dissemination of new performance works, in order to develop new models of co-creation involving artists, audience and cultural organizations on an equal footing. Our aim is to develop a long-term, collaborative, pan-European, trans-disciplinary project and to give opportunities of integration and cohesion whose aim is to promote a stronger cooperation among the cultural institutions, encouraging common activities and artistic events focused on arts of puppet theatre. Prerogative of the project is to raise awareness and spread the knowledge on puppet popular traditions of each partner through festivals, workshops, seminars and performing arts. Today, when the pressure of globalization may seem to have the effect of leveling the cultural values upon which the European Union is based, namely, first of all, the principle of UNITY IN DIVERSITY, it is a good time to reiterate the diverse cultural principles that give wealth and beauty to the European cultural values. In this sense, through this project, we have a chance to make the junction between the know-how in several cultural areas and in several related fields (education, research, art) at a European - transnational level - a way to use more judiciously, creatively, the resources of excellence of the actors involved in the project, with notable benefits for all beneficiaries.

Actualizado 22/11/2017

Besides the fact that the artistic and educational act produced in this way will have a resonance in the six countries involved in the project, transgressing national and even zonal boundaries in favor of a common, even continental, cultural segment, its effects will be measured also on its educational component. Together, they will both participate in the creation and highlighting of a common European treasure, able to highlight and transmit, with specific means of puppet art, some of the most precious themes and motives with addressability in the segment of the youngest audience: children between 3 and 12 years. The fact that this will happen in the specific environment of the puppet art ensures a high-access and high-quality playful background to the results that we, all the people involved in the project, aim to achieve. The project we are proposing is an ample manifestation by which we intend to create a bridge between the cultural institutions, artists, sociologists and the public on the East-West axis of Europe. In this context, cultural institutions, university institutions and educational institutions from 6 countries come together and support through different resources and activities a cultural-educational-scientific approach that aims to achieve the following objectives: trans-nationality, education and research in the field of puppet art.

Project

Field(s) Traditional clothing, dance and songs

Description

THREAD is an international multimedia digital project that gives a modern interpretation of traditional heritage from different countries. The end result of the project is an interactive exhibition which consists of three key elements:

- a display of traditional folk costumes from the second half of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century from three different countries where garments from these countries and cultural heritage would be combined on the same model (e.g. a head cover (hat) from Poland, shirt from Greece and trousers from Bosnia and Herzegovina),

- a model remix of traditional songs from these countries and time period and

- a dance performance also combining elements from traditional dances from all partner countries.

The costumes, songs and dances produced through this project would represent unique and original combinations, i.e. blends of several different cultures. What objects belonging to different cultural heritage holds together in a harmonious whole is a unique symbolism that objects have in themselves and that tell the story about childhood, youth, marriage, maturity and death. It is these five themes that are the five different parts of the exhibition through which visitors will learn about the difference of the other and recognize in it a surprising similarity with their own heritage. Project aims:

- to give a new approach to the study of cultural heritage - to develop a digital multimedia platform for approaching

young audience - to interrupt the standard way of exhibiting traditional costume - to challenge young designers to reproduce traditional culture

in a modern way - to offer the public an interactive project experience.

Project

Field(s) Publishing, Literature, Engaged audience

Description

Despite all of the efforts carried out by the European Union to promote

gender equality in different realms of life, we are still witnessing unequal

conditions for men and women around Europe. Inequality is evident in the

gender pay gap, job descriptions for female and male workers that is

almost exclusively favouring men over women, and work conditions that

they encounter (maternity leave etc.). The gender inequality is also evident

in the field that is considered to be more progressive and liberal; creativity

and art. If one glances over the titles of recently published books and its

authors as well as the nominees of literary awards, male dominance cannot

be overlooked. Alongside with the aforementioned facts, with everything

that has been going on in the world we can see that the gender equality has

not been definitely achieved, but rather has to be reclaimed by each

following generation as one of the main pillars of the European Union and

its values. The overall objective of our project is to put the spotlight on

women authors and their creativity, as well as their specific experiences in

the field of European literature in order to expand the cleavage of equality

and to empower women in art and literature. We would like to find

partners that share that desire in order to cooperate on the project that

would create engaged audience in the field of empowering female writers.

We are equally willing to be a partner on somebody else’s project as we

are willing to be the lead partner ourselves.

Proposed Creative Europe project

Field(s) Transnational Mobility, Audience development

Description

In recent times Georgia has become an associated member of Creative

Europe Programme, which supports transnational cooperation projects

involving cultural and creative organisations from different countries.

Georgia today shares in common European values. It actively promotes

participation in European societal and cultural experience. One of the

directions Ilia State University Music Centre is interested in developing

is Early Music. We already teach courses in Baroque and Renaissance

Music as part of our Bachelor Programme. But we also feel that despite

the rising interest from professional circles, as well as the public at

large, there still is a distinct lack of musicians playing and/or teaching

the music of these eras.

In addition to the above, the study of Baroque and Renaissance cultural

heritage is in a way a bridge of historical gap between Georgia and

Europe: from the 15th century Georgia was mostly cut off from the

important developments taking place in the West. Being involved in

Creative Europe Programme is important also from this point as well.

Ilia State University Music Centre has initiated a small scale Creative

Europe Project Proposal involving three partners from different

countries. The main aim of the Project is popularisation of Early Music

in Georgia among professional musicians, as well as in wider circles.

The Project also seeks to develop the ways of taking Early Music to the

various regions and audiences in Georgia, particularly to orphanages

and street children’s homes, to disabled groups and ethnic minorities

by involving them in the various activities within the Project.
