Year after year the month of September commences, viewed as a period of a bit over four weeks that is a little less happy than the time before it, as those days of rest, holidays, sun and surf fade away into the distance. Stretching out before us: the daily grind, asphalt, traffi c jams and shorter days. But nothing could be further from reality or the right attitude. September is the start of a new era, a new year (whether academic or not), and a new period during which to undertake projects, or pursue those plans that you've been mulling over during the summer. For us turning out a new issue at the gates of the fall is very rewarding. With new ideas, and a great team behind them. Constancy and perseverance, as a friend of mine says.
This issue of Taxi Magazine features the Carthaginians and Romans Festival on its cover. The iconic celebration is celebrating its 25th year. A celebration that epitomizes a people's embrace of their traditions, and promises some very special days in Cartagena.
In our look at Madrid's stage features we talked with Kira Miró in our review of The Name. September also marks the dawn of a new theater season, and the shows, for yet another year, surpass those of the preceding.
Finally, as always, remember that you can get to all these attractions in a taxi.

A new appearance at the Teatro Español by one of one of our most im-portant actors. A little over a year ago he debuted at our hallowed theater in the Plaza de Santa Ana, with a Quixote, and in this case ... well, it’s almost the same thing, as his character, that madman of the balconies starring in the work by Mario Vargas Llosa, is also very Quixotic...Isn't that so?Indeed. This is about people who have "seen the light," and don't stop to ponder the risks they run upon undertaking what they believe to be their mission and obligation. It's a very beautiful text and a cause for celebra-tion, because since we did Captain Pantoja and the Special Services Mario and I had promised each other that we would work together again, which has fi nally come to pass. Was that a long time ago?Well, in '75 of the last century, no less, and it was Mario Vargas Llosa himself who directed the fi lm adaptation of his novel. We shot it with Caty Jurado. It was a big production... and since then we have been looking forward to this second encounter. Were you aware of this work: The Madman of the Balconies? No, I had read La chunga and La señorita de Tacna, but didn't know about this one. How about that. What were your fi rst impressions after reading it?I liked it because it has a very interesting premise: everything happens in this guy's head, a Florentine who went to Peru, and now remembers all his years in that country. And I especially like its Quixotic side. He'll do anything to carry out his task, at all costs, even willing to endanger the happiness of his own daughter.Reading the text, one is tempted to look for parallels with current events, as people take to the street to protest against what they be-lieve to be unfair...And the phenomenon of real-estate speculation is very timely, because there is a moment in which I, addressing the city of Lima, say: “you are free to go and corrupt yourself out there, with those who are going to buy you coats of reinforced concrete, plexiglass hats, suits of steel ...” and the like. Yes, there is this whole unchecked thing which has gradually demo-lished what used to be a real asset, not only architectural, but artistic and cultural. There's the Algarrobico (hotel), and so many things...coasts and urban landscapes, cities that have been massacred.

The daily applause, recognition by both audiences and critics... everything surrounding the work is po-sitive. Is there any little thing that you would change? When things are going so well, it's best to not touch a thing!
After almost 6 months of shows, how would Kira Miro encourage our readers to turn out to see The Name? They'd better hurry, because we're taking the show on the road! And they'll s spend an hour and a half laughing, non-stop! It's really worth it.

After a very family-oriented summer, the Teatro Alfi l kicks off a new season with a lineup packed with new features. To start, the month of October will be full of improv, thanks to the company Al Tran Tran, without any doubt a leading name in Spain when it comes to improv, music and comedy, featuring gutsy shows in which the real star is the audience. Its run at the Alfi l will feature two different shows. Based on ideas from the audience they will improvise, with music and humor, drawing on everything from the morning news to the sordid tales of nighttime poets, debates, greatest hits, radio dramas, commercials and, of course... songs. También se verán Lobby, an Exhibit; This is Tomorrow y Man, Machine and Motion, esta última propiedad del Museo Reina Sofía.
A few weeks ago we were enjoying the exhibit the MNCARS had prepared for its retrospective on Ri-chard Hamilton; the most complete ever done, fea-turing the most important creations by the forerunner of Pop Art. Some of them were loaned by the world's major artistic institutions: the MOMA in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago; the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; and the Tate, London. Ten weeks after opening its doors, all parties must be satisfi ed. Madrid donned its Pop shirt during the sum-mer, #MadridesPop was the hashtag on the social networks, and the MNCARS served as the standard-bearer. There are still a few weeks left to experience a very special adventure. Madrid continues to be a privileged city, offering the possibility of enjoying, fi rst-hand, ins-tallations like Growth and Form, from 1951, which has been rebuilt for the fi rst time since it was created. Also on display will be Lobby, an Exhibit; This is Tomorrow; and Man, Machine and Motion, the latter belonging to the Reina Sofía Museum.

An exhibition that explores the infl uence of El Gre-co on art today, through the works of 12 contempo-rary artists that testify to his impact on contemporary creativity. Accompanying the modern works at the exhibition is San Jerónimo (St. Jerome), an important El Greco work belonging to the collection of the Royal Aca-demy of Fine Arts of San Fernando. The artists featured openly recognize their debt to the Cretan, an acknowledgment that is at times explicit in their careers, while at other times, although less obvious, equally intense. José Manuel Broto, Jorge Galindo, Pierre Gonnord, Luis Gordillo, Secundino Hernández, Cristina Igle-sias, Carlos León, Din Matamoro, Marina Núñez, Pa-blo Reinoso, Montserrat Soto and Darío Villalba are the artists Between Heaven and Earth. The program contains texts by 12 experts on both El Greco and Contemporary Art, all of them brief essays on El Greco's legacy, in history and art, from our con-temporary perspective. The exhibition's curator, Isabel Durán, observes: "there are very few classical artists who have so in-tensely infl uenced the art produced in recent deca-des. The presence of El Greco's body of work is clear. It is probably he, Diego Velázquez and Francisco de Goya who continue to have the strongest impact on what we call Contemporary Art".

The culinary aspirations of Jaime Anasagasti Gimé-nez, owner of The Market Madrid, spurred him to open this new restaurant located right in the Cha-martin district. Forged by his involvement in major culinary projects in both Spain and the US, he has launched this establishment that invariably dazzles its patrons. The chef is Javier Caballero, who has headed up several kitchens at renowned restaurants over the course of his extensive career, assisted by Alejandro Terciado in the kitchen and Norma Hernández on the fl oor. At The Market Madrid the menu changes weekly de-pending on the products on the market, offering cus-tomers some fi fteen different dishes, always accom-panied by a careful selection of wines and liqueurs, chosen by Jaime himself who, with his experience as a sommelier, strives to choose producers and pro-ducts transcending the latest fads. A series of coc-ktails are also offered based on the American clas-sics, with a personal touch. In line with this concept, the restaurant team selects the fi nest products to serve up international cuisine which respects culinary traditions, dishes prepared with the utmost care, always with the most exquisite and authentic fl avors.

For exampe: special tostas topped with the fi nest products from the coast - shrimp, cockles, cod paté with caviar- and, of course, its bocaítos - an inevitable symbol of Spain's well-known stereotypes, with names as Casti-lian as Luisito, Currito and Josefi no. The old fashioned stuff, but here and now.Enjoying the latest twists is possible at Bocaíto, a fi rst-rate, intimate establishment where Francisco Bravo and Concha Ortega, reinventing classic cuisine, now along with their daughter Chris Bravo, create a gastro-nomic experience, thanks to the very fi nest ingredients, that promises to be magical. Easting Andalusia-style in Madrid is now possible. And returning to Bocaíto will become a tradition, as its style captivates and its personal, cozy touch makes you feel right at home.

Located in the Old North Train Station, very close to enclaves like the Royal Palace and the Cathedral of the Almudena, Colonial Norte combines past and present in a multidisciplinary venue that conjures up memories of the trips of yesteryear, fused with the most modern audio-visual technologies. All with one aim in mind: the very best results for each celebration. Fine cuisine and good service, guaranteed by the Oter Group, take care of the rest. Colonial Norte boasts three levels, reachable in a pa-noramic elevator; a spacious terrace, and a spectacu-lar hall with a coffered ceiling towering over fi fteen me-ters high. Its urban terrace, available year round, can accommodate cocktail parties and informal lunches. On the fi rst fl oor the restaurant resembles a 19th-cen-tury Spanish colonial home, with commodious wicker armchairs along with a sizeable large wine cellar. A huge bar, in copper, adds the fi nal touch. Finally, on the top fl oor, offering breathtaking views of the Puerta de San Vicente and the Royal Palace, is the Colonial Club. Diaphanous and with an avant-garde de-sign, it manages to evoke New York nights.

Since 1963 the arrival of the month of October marks the celebration of the Festa do Marisco (Seafood Festival ) in this town along Galicia's Rías Baixas (estuaries). This is a gastronomic and cul-tural event of National Touristic Interest spotlighting two of this coastal enclave's cornerstones: its tour-ist and fishing. During the festival seafood and fish stands are opened, offering affordable prices. Two of the area's premier products also feature their very own day, with platform-produced mussels and fish-far-med turbot available. Other delights one can savor include crab, shrimp, Norway lobsters, oysters, scallops and goose barnacles, all fished from the Arousa Sea. But the festival does not live off seafood alone... which lists many additional activities. Another of the main attractions is the Forum on Mari-ne Resources & Aquaculture in Galicia’s Rias, made possible by various sectors in marine resources fi eld. An exhibition of Galician/Portuguese folklore, con-certs, exhibitions, races and traditional games round out the entertainment offerings. In short, this is one of the premier showcases of products from Galicia's rias, as evidenced by many visitors who turned out for the last edition.

Every year in mid-August the Burgos town of Oña relives its history: El Cronicón de Oña is a spectacle heldinside the Church of the Monastery of San Salvador, a cul-tural project and a historical recreation which brings together town residents, as more than 120 people portray legend-ary characters from the pages of history, including the kings and counts that rest in the pantheon of the monastery. The staging portrays events from 10th and 11th centuries involving the County of Cas-tile, the Kingdoms of León and Navarre, and border problems with the Moors. Of special note is the figure of the Castilian count Sancho García, who in 1011 decide to found the monastery. Over the course of the last 27 years this event has established itself as one of Spain's leading historical re-enact-ments.
