No puedo decirles lo inspirador que ha sido para mí y me urge regresar a Corpus Christi y co-menzar a utilizar algunas de las cosas que he aprendido. Las próximas semanas serán muy especiales para mí. Este domingo, 13 de octubre, tendré la oportunidad de concele-brar la Misa de Canonización del Beato John Henry Newman de Inglaterra. El cardenal Newman fue un converso al catolicismo y se convirtió en un gran maestro de la fe. Sus ideas todavía tienen un efecto en los campus universitarios en las comunidades católicas que los campus llevan su nombre. Después de la canonización viajaré a Londres para visitar algunos de los lugares asociados con el Cardenal Newman y luego me dirigiré a Grecia, donde voy a ir a un retiro en los pasos de San Pablo. RITE OF CHRISTIAN

INITIATION FOR ADULTS Adults who are interested in receiving the sacra-ments of Baptism, Eucharist or Confirmation are invited to participate in a faith journey that we refer to as the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults.

We are anxious to assist you and help you pre-pare for the sacraments as you deepen your rela-tionship with the Lord.

Anyone interested in these classes should speak to Fr. West, or Mr. Lucero at the rectory.

News From Our Pastor Dear Parishioners: You will be reading this on the weekend of October 12 and 13. By this time I will have completed the classroom type presentations of my sabbatical. During the last 3 weeks we have concentrated on the Word of God. Some of the classes have been on the structure of the Bible, but most of them have been concerned with the understanding of God’s holy word and how to interpret them for a fuller understanding of the gospel with an emphasis on preaching the word in our time. I cannot tell you how inspiring this has been for me and I can’t wait to return to Corpus Christi and begin to uti-lize some of the things I have learned. The next couple of weeks will be very special for me. This Sunday, October 13, I will have an opportunity to concele-brate the Mass of Canonization of Blessed John Henry Newman from England. Cardinal Newman was a convert to Catholicism and became a great teacher of the faith. His insights still have an effect on college campuses where Catho-lic communities on those campuses bear his name. After the canonization I will travel to London to visit some of the sights associated with Cardinal Newman and then make my way to Greece where I will go on a retreat in the footsteps of St. Paul. I have been wanting to do this for many years and I am looking forward to visiting the sights that St. Paul visited and established churches in. Of course, during these travels I will pray for you and I ask for your prayers until I return. God Bless, Fr. West
