GMTUn da un compaero mo recibi un email de un estudiante, al darse
cuenta de que el estudiante tendra que haber asistido a su clase as
que le mand otro email preguntndole que por qu no haba estado en el
Aula Magna. l respondi que s que estaba.
Tras 15 aos como profesora de Universidad he visto a los
estudiantes hacer muchas cosas que frustran a los profesores. El
ejemplo de arriba solo es una de las muchas maneras con las que los
estudiantes pueden enfurecer a sus profesores y todas ellas no
dejan de sorprenderme. Aqu est una lista con las diez cosas que los
estudiantes jams deberan hacer en con sus profesores (todos los
ejemplos son casos que me han ocurrido):No mandis un email a
vuestro profesor disculpndoos por no poder asistir a su clase y
despus preguntar Ser la clase importante?.
Cuando el profesor pregunta si hay alguna duda, no levantis la
mano y preguntis esto entra en el examen?
No mandis un email al profesor mientras estis en clase. La hora
en la que se ha mandado el correo quedar registrada y el profesor
sabr que no habis estado muy atentos a la clase que ha pasado aos
preparando y perfeccionando.
No firmis los emails a vuestros profesores con besos.
No os saltis la clase de las 9 de la maana porque tengis resaca
o sueo y despus vayis a vuestro profesor a pedirle una tutora.
Que vuestros abuelos no se mueran justo cuando tenis que
entregar un trabajo para as poder ampliar la fecha de entrega.
Siempre me sorprende que cuando van a empezar los exmenes o cuando
hay que entregar algn trabajo los familiares de los estudiantes se
ponen enfermos, por lo que habra que avisar sus familias en esas
pocas del ao.
Evitad el copiar trozos literales del libro de texto que vuestro
profesor escribi y hacerlo pasar por vuestro. Os aseguro que el
profesor lo notar.
No le mandis un email a vuestros profesores con preguntas muy
generales y sin explicar quienes sois. Por ejemplo: Puede decirme
lo que quiere decir la pregunta del trabajo? o no entend del todo
la diapositiva 33 de su clase. Es posible que estemos dando clase a
mas de 500 alumnos de diferentes carreras, as que nos podis ayudar
poniendo el ao de estudio, la carrera o el ttulo del trabajo.
No enviis al profesor un boceto de vuestro trabajo que est lleno
de fallos ortogrficos, nuestra responsabilidad no consiste en
revisar tu proyecto, esa es tu tarea.
Y finalmente resistid la tentacin de silbar muy alto cualquier
cancin durante cualquier clase, s, esto me ocurri hace poco. Ah y
una cosa mas tampoco es una buena idea criticar a vuestros
profesores en las redes sociales, se acabarn enterando (as que si a
algunos de mis estudiantes no les gusta este artculo, os
aguantis!)
COMMENTARYThis text was more difficult than the first one not in
the vocabulary but in how to express the same as in the original
text without changing it too much during the translation. While I
was doing the translation I used some strategies in order to make
the text coherent and natural. Some of these strategies are:
Transposition, adaptation or omission. The strategy that I used in
the text was transposition. I used this tactic with the first line
of the text in the part of Noticing... I translated it as al darse
cuenta so the grammatical category has changed during the process
of translation. In the second paragraph I found my second problem
while translating. The problem is the translation of lecturer, in
Spanish we only use the word profesores whereas in English there
are different types of teachers like professors and lecturers. In
this case I used the strategy of adaptation, given that our culture
does not differentiate between the teachers at the university or
teachers at school I used the same word in the all the cases that
appear in the text. The next strategy that I used while translating
the text is omission. I used this in the part of the text where it
talks about emailing your tutor while you are still at class. Here
it said email or tweet your tutor, in Spain we do not tweet our
teacher so it would be confusing for a Spanish student to read the
word tweet in relation to get in contact with the teachers, so I
ommitted it and left the word email which everyone would
understand. Another difficulty was to choose the addressee of the
text. I chose vosotros because the texts is addressed to students
so it can be a bit informal and I also choose the plural in order
to produce the feeling of group and to not leave anyone out.In
conclusion it was a bit more difficult to translate than the first
text because of some expressions and of some cultural differences
but in general it was not very difficult to translate.
