CLASSROOM LESSON:

The teacher explains to the students that during the next days during the P.E. lessons, they are going

to speak and work in English.

We are going to work on the MOVEMENT from different points of view:

- Types of movement: Jump, Walk, Run, Stand Up, Sit Down, Climb Up, and Slide

down...

- Animals’ movement: Frog, Monkey, Lion, Cat, Snake, Fly, Fish...

- We are going to connect different types of movement with the different sports too.

3º de Primaria: Like animal 5

PRE-TASK:

Because we are in a P.E. lesson, our Pre-task is going to be a Warm Up. First of all, the teacher will

explain the game that we are going to use for the warm up activity:

Pre-Task number 1:UP & DOWN

Everybody will meet in front of the stairs that are in the playground area. The game consists of the

teacher saying “UP” and everybody climbs one step of the stair, or the teacher saying “DOWN” and

everybody jumps down, we can also use two more orders: “FREEZE” and “SIT DOWN”.

At first, the teacher speaks slowly but after 2 or 3 times the speed is increased; if the children

mistake the order they go and sit down at the top of the stair.

When we observe that a child that has been eliminated has not participated for a long time, we start

again.

After 2 or 3 times we finish.

3º de Primaria: Like animal 6

TASK Nº1: Preparation for the class.

Beforehand the students will prepare 15 pairs of mini flashcards with the name and the picture of

different animals (like cats, dogs, monkeys...)

The teacher writes the names of 15 animals on the blackboard and gives one animal to each student

to prepare the mini flashcards. Pupils have to interact between them.

The teacher laminates all the mini flashcards and makes two piles.

3º de Primaria: Like animal 7

TASK Nº2: “Miming animals”.

From one of the piles of the mini flashcards, one student picks up a mini flashcard and he has to

mime the chosen animal in front of the class, using the relevant sounds and movements.

The students have to use the following expression to discover the animal:

- Is it a cat? / is it a dog?/ …..

And the student that is miming the animal has to say either:

-Yes it is / No it isn’t

When the animal has been discovered, we would repeat the task 2 or 3 more times with different

students and different mini flashcards.

Is it a cat?

Is it a dog?

Yes, it is

No, it isn't.

TASK Nº3: “Pairs”

In the playground area we use the two piles of mini flashcards. We have two mini flashcards for

each animal and we give one mini flashcard to each student.

Everybody moves around the area making sounds and movements and has to find his/her pair, when

the pair is made they go to the teacher and give him the mini flashcards and sit down until

everybody has finished.

Expressions used:

Are you a cat?/ Are you a snake?/....

No I am not a cat / Yes I am.

When the whole class has finished the teacher deals the mini flashcards again to the students.

Are you a cat?

Are you a snake?

Yes, I am

No, I am not a cat.

3º de Primaria: Like animal 9

TASK Nº4: Tigers & Lions. We have two teams ( Tigers and Lions ), one of the teams sits back to back with the other team.

The teacher says “Lions” and the whole team runs away trying to escape from the “Tigers”, the

teacher repeats until all the Tigers and Lions are out of the game.

When we finish we give other names to the teams, the tigers are also cats and the lions are also

dogs, with this new instruction we make the game more difficult.

3º de Primaria: Like animal 10

TASK Nº5: Crossword.

First, the teacher will give the hints for the different numbers of the crossword.

Second, students should guess the word for each number.

Third, the teacher will hand out photocopies of the crossword and students must fill in it.

3º de Primaria: Like animal 11

FINAL-TASK:

We are going to work in pairs, each pair is going to prepare a board, then they are going

to explain in front of the rest of the class the work done.

The task consists in prepare a board with different movements then connect this

movement with animals and finally find a sport and sport-players that play the sport.

The students have to include photos, pictures and everything related with the movement

chosen.
