También encontrarás en esta edición una reflexión sobre el documental del mejor chef de sushi en el mundo, un recordatorio sobre los 76 años luctuosos de Federico García Lorca y un desarrollo en Monterrey que busca armonizar al hombre con la naturaleza.

Durante dos semanas el hotel Crowne Plaza ® Acapulco fue sede de la Convención de Especialidades Acuáticas 2012 de la Federación Mexicana de Natación. Los clavadistas mexicanos que ganaron medallas en los Juegos Olímpicos 2012, Paola Espinosa, Alejandra Orozco, Laura Sánchez, Germán Sánchez e Iván García, y los tres entrenadores Ma Jin, Francisco Rueda e Iván Bautista recibieron reconocimientos por parte del Lic. Jesús Mena Campos, ex clavadista Olímpico y actual Director del Instituto Mexiquense de Cultura Física y Deporte; Ing. Kiril Todorov, Presidente de la Federación Mexicana de Natación y Lic. Carlos Padilla Becerra, Comisionado del Comité Olímpico Mexicano (COM) para Londres 2012.

For two weeks the Crowne Plaza Hotel ® Acapulco was home to the 2012 Water Specialties Convention of the Mexican Swimming Federation. The Mexican divers who won medals at the 2012 Olympics were acknowledged, Paola Espinosa, Alejandra Orozco, Laura Sánchez, Germán Sánchez, Iván García and the three trainers Ma Jin, Francisco Rueda and Iván Bautista. The acknowledgements were given by Jesús Mena Campos, former Mexican diver and current director of the Mexican Institute of Physical Culture and Sport; Eng. Kiril Todorov, President of the Mexican Swimming Federation and Carlos Padilla Becerra, Commissioner of the Mexican Olympic Committee (COM) for London 2012.

SEDE DE LA CONVENCIÓN DE GERENTES GENERALES Y DE VENTAS DE LOS HOTELES DE IHG MÉXICOPresidente InterContinental ®Guadalajara
El hotel Presidente InterContinental ®Guadalajara ha sido sede de grandes eventos en la ciudad, como los XVI Juegos Panamericanos en 2011 y el Congreso Mundial de las Telecomunicaciones (ITU), contando con más de 5, 000 participantes de 50 países.
En 2012, se realizó el Congreso de MPI & MPM, en el que se reunieron las personalidades relacionadas con la comercialización de los viajes de incentivos, grupos y convenciones, a nivel nacional e internacional.
Es motivo de celebrar que en noviembre de este año el hotel fue sede de la convención anual de Gerentes Generales y de ventas de los Hoteles IHG México incluyendo representantes de los mas de 120 hoteles de las marcas Presidente InterContinental Hoteles & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hoteles & Resorts, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Resorts y Staybridge Suites de la República Mexicana. Las reuniones estuvieron encabezadas por Gerardo Murray y Felipe Ríos.

The Presidente Intercontinental Hotel® Guadalajara, has been home to great events in the city, such as the XVI Panamerican Games in 2011 and the World Conference on International Telecommunications (ITU), with more than 5,000 attendants from 50 countries. The MPI & MPM Conference took place in 2012, which gathered important figures related to the national and international commerce of incentive trips, groups and conferences.
It’s a reason to celebrate that this past November the hotel hosted the annual convention of general and sales managers of the IHG Mexico hotels, including representatives of the more than 120 hotels from the Presidente InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn Resorts and Staybridge Suites of Mexico. The reunions were presided by Gerardo Murray and Felipe Ríos.

Los motivos son su agradable tempera-tura, generalmente estable, la exquisitez de sus formidables playas, la delicia de sus transparentes aguas, sus bancos de arena y sol que atraviesan El Arco, y el finisterra que testimonia el encuentro de
las aguas del Mar de Cortés y del Océano Pacifico. Muchos motivos para ser considerado también Patrimonio de la Humanidad.
No es difícil llegar a este punto de confluencia entre el Pacifico y el Mar de Cortés. Sólo 152 kilómetros lo separan de La Paz, la capital del estado, por la Carretera Transpeninsular. También se puede arribar por avión al Aeropuerto Internacional de Los Cabos, localizado a 12 kilómetros de San José del Cabo o desembarcar en la lujosa marina de Cabo San Lucas.
El Arco natural de Cabo San Lucas, ha sido siempre una de las atracciones turísticas más llamativas, por la posición de sus peñascos que delimitan la unión del Golfo de California y el Océano Pacífico, dando una impresión de estar suspendidos en el mar. Es así como viene hacer uno de los más importantes atractivos turísticos de la zona, junto con la Playa del Amor, ideal para los enamorados.
Asimismo, sus poblados se distinguen por sus extraordinarias artesanías de pieles, sus fábricas de vidrio soplado, sus museos de fósiles gigantes, la Sierra de la Laguna y especialmente por los poblados de Miraflores, San Antonio y San Bartolo. Diversas playas destacan en loa conocida Costa de Oro de México, como la de Buenavista, Cabo San Lucas, Los Frailes, Puerto Chileno o Punta Colorada.

The point where the Pacific and Sea of Cortez meet isn’t hard to reach. It’s only 152 kilometers away from La Paz, the state capital, on the Transpeninsular highway. You can also fly into Los Cabos International Airport (12 miles from San Jose del Cabo), or disembark at the luxury Cabo San Lucas marina.
The Natural Arch of Cabo San Lucas has always been one of the most striking sights, because of the position of its cliffs, which mark the confluence of the Gulf of California and the Pacific Ocean, and give the impression of being suspended at sea. That’s how it has become one of the most important tourist attractions in the area, along with the Beach of Love (Playa del Amor), ideal for lovers.
Its villages are also distinguished by their extraordinary leather crafts, glass blowing factories, museums of giant fossils, the Sierra de la Laguna, and especially the towns of Miraflores, San Antonio and San Bartolo. Several beaches stand out on the Gold Coast of Mexico, including Buenavista, Cabo San Lucas, Los Frailes, Puerto Chileno or Punta Colorada.

Cabo San Lucas es, hoy por hoy, sinónimo de lujo, distinción, extravagancia y comodidad, elementos que hacen del turismo internacional y nacional su mejor carta de presentación.
Con el tiempo, San José del Cabo se ha convertido en un lugar de primera clase, para quienes gustan de practicar golf. Cuenta con seis campos de campeonato y uno más que pertenece al gobierno municipal.
A ello se suma el Corredor Turístico de 33 kilómetros de playa que une a San José del Cabo con Cabo San Lucas. Un corredor que cuenta con hoteles de gran turismo, condominios privados y villas.
Para los amantes del ecoturismo, este lugar cuenta con hermosos escenarios para caminar, acampar, pasear en bicicleta o a caballo en la Sierra de La Laguna. Indis-pensable resulta ir de compras a las tiendas artesanales, ubicadas alrededor de la plaza principal. DESCANSO AL SOL
Las playas más importantes son Médano, Cabo Pulmo, Playa del Amor, PuntaPalmilla, los Barriles y San Pedrito, además de 24 islotes habitados por aves, focas y leones marinos, mismos que han sido declarados ya como Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Organización de las Naciones Unidas para la Cultura, la Ciencia y la Educación (UNESCO).
Entre enero y abril, podrá realizar el avistamiento de las ballenas grises, ballenas jorobadas y otras especies que también migran al área. Hay tours para ver las ballenas en barco o lancha, en ocasiones a lo largo del corredor turístico, se puede ver las ballenas desde la orilla.
Cabo San Lucas is, today, synonymous with luxury, distinction, extravagance and comfort, features that allow it to perfectly present itself to national and international tourists.
Over time, San Jose del Cabo has become a first-class location for those who like to play golf. It has six cham-pionship courses and one that belongs to the municipal government.
In addition to that, the Corredor Turistico is 33 kilometers of beach that connects San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas. It’s a corridor featuring hotels, private condos and villas.
For fans of ecotourism, the Sierra de la Laguna offers beautiful scenery, ideal for hiking, camping, biking or horseback riding. A shopping spree at craft stores, located around the main square, is a must.
A BREAK IN THE SUN The most important beaches are Medano, Cabo
Pulmo, Playa del Amor, Punta Palmilla, Los Barriles and San Pedrito, plus 24 islands inhabited by birds, seals and sea lions. These islands have been listed as World Heritage Sites by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
Between January and April, you might catch a glimpse of gray and humpback whales, as well as other species which migrate to the area. There are whale watching tours by boat, though sometimes the whales can be seen from the shore along the tourist corridor.

VÁMONOS DE PESCAEs conocido como la capital mundial de marlín y tiene la
flota de pesca deportiva más grande en América del Norte. En Los cabos se celebran los torneos de pesca de primera clase como el Bisbee Black and Blue. Las especies que se pueden capturar son marlín negro, azul y rayado; atún, dorado, cabrilla, wahoo y pez gallo. La mejor temporada va de julio a noviembre.
Después de pasar una mañana de pesca, ¿qué tal una tarde de golf? El mejor golf podría ser de junio a octubre, cuando los precios son reducidos y las temperaturas son confortables.
LET’S GO FISHING It is known as the marlin capital of the world, and it has
the largest fishing fleet in North America. Several first-class fishing tournaments, such as as the Bisbee Black and Blue, are held at Los Cabos. Some of the species that may be caught there include black, striped and blue marlins, tuna, mahi-mahi or dolphin-fish, grouper, wahoo and roosterfish. The best season is from July to November.
After a morning of fishing, how about an afternoon of golf? The best time to golf would be from June to October, when prices are low and temperatures are comfortable.

Guanajuato, la ciudad de los callejones empinados y las casas coloridas; donde abundan las mezcalerías y terrazas dónde tomar un café para perderse en un
libro.Toda ella habla de México, toda ella habla de cultura, de expresión, de libertad.
Caminar por Guanajuato es una experiencia que involucra todos los sentidos. La vista desde uno de los balcones de algún hotel o posada en la calle de Sopeña, se embriaga con el colorido de las casas, la obra de algún pintor errante o los tejados y las artesanías, enmarcadas a lo lejos por las montañas verdes, en verano, o azules en invierno; el olfato se deja seducir por el olor a café y pan recién horneado, ofrecidos en un abanico de lugares en los que se puede dar rienda suelta al deleite culinario.

Guanajuato is a city of steep streets and colorful houses. A city where mezcalerías and

Pero si lo que se busca es un lugar para bailar, en La dama de las Camelias toda la noche se dejan oír los ritmos caribeños como la cumbia o la salsa. Existen tantas opciones de restaurantes, museos, mezcalerías y cafés, que sería imposible visitarlos todos. Sin embargo, cualquier opción deja extasiado a cualquier visitante.
Cuando la ciudad es anfitriona de el Cervantino, festival cultural más importante de América Latina, ocurre una explosión que maximiza la ya de por sí bella experiencia de visitar esta ciudad. Son 18 días de música, teatro, danza y diversión, en la que diferentes artistas de todas partes del mundo se reúnen para compartir algo de lo que son.Desde operas, obras y orquestas en el Teatro Juárez, hasta danza contemporánea en la plaza principal o conciertos en los túneles subterráneos. Del 3 al 21 del pasado mes de octubre se celebró el 40° aniversario de este festival.

When the city hosts the Cervantino Festival, the most important in Latin America, a boom that maximizes the already beautiful experience of visiting this city occurs. It’s 18 days of music, theater, dance and fun, during which different artists from around the world gather to share some of what they are; from operas, plays and orchestras at the Teatro Juarez, to contemporary dance in the main square or concerts in the underground tunnels. The 40th anniversary of this festival was celebrated from October 3rd to the 21st.

1.- El año en que comenzó todo El 16 de abril de 1531 fue su fundación y aún
conserva su rostro colonial, producto de la colonización de los españoles. En la ciudad se han encontrado restos antiguos del cultivo de maíz y camotes en la región de Tehuacán. En el siglo XIX fue de los primeros estados en industrializarse gracias a la introducción de telares mecánicos.
2.- Puebla en documentosPara las personas que les guste la historia el
Archivo Municipal de la Ciudad de Puebla cuenta con documentos históricos como la Cédula Real original, documento de la fundación de la ciudad, además de su Escudo de Armas. Estos y otros documentos forman parte de la Memoria del Mundo Unesco-México.
3.- Patrimonio mundialPocos centros históricos son considerados
“Patrimonio Mundial” por la Unesco, Puebla forma parte de esta lista desde el 11 de diciembre de 1987. De acuerdo con el registro de la Secretaría de Turismo la ciudad aún tiene 2,619 monumentos convirtiéndose en el lugar con más monumentos cuidados en América.

keeps its colonial façade, product of the Spaniard colonization. In the city were found ancient remains of the farming of corn and sweet potatoes on the region of Tehuacán. In the XIX century it was of the first states to become industrialized thanks to the introduction of mechanical looms.
2.- Puebla in documentsFor those who like history, the municipal archive of the
City of Puebla has historical documents such as the original Royal Warrant, document of the founding of the city, and its coat of arms. These and other documents are part of the Unesco-Mexico Memory of the World.
3.- World HeritageFew historical centers are considered to be “World
Heritage” by the Unesco, Puebla is part of this list since December 11, 1987. According to the register of the Tourism Agency the city still has 2,619 monuments, becoming the place with more tended monuments in America.

4.- La TalaveraLos poblanos se sienten orgullosos en decir que la
Talavera cuenta con denominación de origen. Se fabrica desde hace cuatro siglos.

y las Cemitas son los platillos que tienes que probar en tu visita a Puebla.
6.- La Catedral de PueblaSu arquitectura, acervo pictórico y escultórico hacen
que la Catedral de Puebla sea única. Localizada en el centro histórico de Puebla está delimitada por una reja con ángeles. Además tiene las torres más altas de las catedrales del continente.
7.- Joya barrocaCubierta, en su mayoría, con láminas de oro, la Capilla
del Rosario es considerada como una joya barroca que data del siglo XVII. Se abrió el 16 de abril de 1690 y desde entonces ha maravillado a cada visitante por la calidad en su decoración.

According to the developers, Arboleda will be the safest, most fun location in Garza Garcia with areas specially designed for families, youth and couples.

Por años, el mes de octubre, en pleno otoño, ha sido consagrado al mercado del arte en París. La Ciudad Luz se vistió de gala y los periódicos, revistas especializadas, la publicidad
en las calles y hasta los pasillos del metro anunciaron los grandes eventos del mes: ferias de arte moderno y contemporáneo, ferias especializadas en fotografía, inauguraciones de exposiciones en las galerías de arte, en los museos y performances urbanos...
París estuvo de fiesta y a lo largo de los Champs Elysées los banderines blancos y negros muestran las siglas FIAC (Feria Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo), la segunda feria internacional del mercado del arte después de Art Basel en Basilea, Suiza.
El miércoles 17 de octubre fue la inauguración en el Grand Palais con 180 galerías seleccionadas de entre 750 candidaturas. Con una superficie de 9,000 metros cuadrados, el precio por metro cuadrado de un stand va entre 420 y 480 euros. Veinticuatro países son representados, entre ellos: Francia, Estados Unidos, Alemania, Bélgica, Reino Unido, Suiza, Italia, Dinamarca, Países Bajos, Polonia, Rumania, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, España y México, entre otros.

cialized magazines, street advertising and even the corridors of the metro publicized the major events happening this month: Exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, photography exhibitions, exhibi-tion openings in art galleries, museums and urban performances...
Paris hosted a party, and along the Champs Elysées black and white pennants display the acro-nym FIAC (International Contemporary Art Fair), the second international art market exhibition after Art Basel in Basel, Switzerland.
Wednesday October 17th saw the opening at the Grand Palais, with 180 galleries selected from 750 nominations. With an area of 9, 000 square meters, the price of a stand per square meter oscillates between 420 and 480 euros. 24 coun-tries are represented, including France, the United States, Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, the United Arab Emirates, Spain and Mexico, among others.
“The FIAC is a fair of human scale and is the annual meeting point for galleries and collectors. Visitors also include students, artists and amateurs, but we must not forget that very important transactions take place here,” says Jennifer Flay, director of the FIAC, in an interview for L’oeil magazine.

“La FIAC es una feria de escala humana y es el punto de encuentro anual entre galerías y coleccionistas. También la visitan estudiantes, artistas y amateurs pero no hay que olvidar que aquí, se llevan a cabo importantes transacciones”, comenta Jeniffer Flay, directora de la FIAC, en entrevista para la revista L’oeil.
La FIAC funciona como un verdadero mercado de lujo. Hombres y mujeres de negocios de todo el mundo acuden a la cita, algunos en compañía de sus consejeros en arte y aunque ya tienen galerista de “cabecera” siempre observan a detalle la toda la mercancía. Una vez que el coleccionista encuentra las obras de arte que quiere adquirir ¡comienza la negociación!.
Los estudiantes en arte acuden a esta feria para observar el funcionamiento del sistema con la espera de encontrarse a su artista favorito y los amateurs acuden a ella como si fueran a un museo. Este evento esta abierto a todo público aunque los más esperados por los organizadores son los coleccionistas de arte.

La FIAC se prolonga también al exterior de los muros del Gran Palacio, con gigantescas instalaciones y esculturas en el Jardín de las Tullerias, Jardín de Plantas, Plaza Vendôme y en la Explanada de los Inválidos, en el corazón de Paris.
Otro de los importantes acontecimientos del mes es el Premio Marcel Duchamp, que se entrega cada año en la inauguración oficial de la FIAC. Este año fue otorgado a Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel, representados por la galería Loevenbruck en Paris.
En paralelo a la FIAC, se han creado las “Ferias Off” en las que, según expertos, participan galerías de categoría inferior y con poca influencia en el mercado del arte: Art Elysée, Slick Paris, YIA, Cutlog, Show Off y Art Business entre otras.
Críticos de arte consideran que el tiempo de vida de las “Ferias Off” será corto por que los coleccionistas de nivel inferior no son suficientes para atender la gran oferta creada por estos espacios, que tiene cinco años de existencia.
Es así como año con año, París celebra ser una ciudad llena de cultura y con ciudadanos apasionados por el arte, aunque ha sido remplazada por grandes metrópolis anglosajonas como Londres y Nueva York, que están a la cabecera del “top 5” de las capitales del mercado del arte.
The FIAC works as a real luxury market. Business men and women from around the world attend the event, some accompanied by their art advisors, and though they may have a “head” gallerist they always examine in detail all of the merchandise. Once the collector finds the artwork that he or she wants to acquire, the negotiation begins!
Art students come to the fair to observe how the system works, with the hopes of meeting their favorite artists, and amateurs flock to it as they would to a museum. This event is open to everyone, though the visitors most anticipated by the organizers are art collectors.

l nombre de Mara Thompson de la Rosa se ha relacionado desde que era niña con el ballet, una disciplina en la que rápidamente destacó y le ha permitido estudiar en el Instituto Superior de Arte de Burdeos, Francia; la Academia Universal
de Ballet (Academia Kirov) en Washington, la Escuela del Royal Ballet de Londres, la Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School del American Ballet Theatre y el Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Es bailarina profesional desde los 16 años y ha trabajado en el American Ballet Theatre II y la Complexions Contemporary Ballet en Nueva York.
Y apenas tiene 21 años. La experiencia en escuelas, compañías y concursos en México y el extranjero le hacen desear abrir en el corto plazo una escuela de danza clásica en su ciudad natal. “Siento que es una ciudad con mucha oportunidad y donde hay muchas personas a las que les gustaría aprender a bailar. Me encantaría poder ofrecer algo dentro de mi país que aporte algo maravilloso como el ballet. También poder dirigir una compañía de ballet algún día es una idea muy interesante y algo que creo que me fascinaría”.

Born in Cancun, in 2005 she won the National Youth Award in the Arts category, and received it from then President Vicente Fox at Los Pinos.
Su idilio con el ballet comenzó “desde muy chiquita” como resultado de su gusto por la música clásica. “Poder expresarme a través de movimiento y disfrutar de la música al mismo tiempo se me hizo algo increíble. El tiempo y los años fueron pasando y mi amor hacia el ballet y todo tipo de danza fue creciendo. Aprendí a desarrollar y perfeccionar mi técnica, pero, aun más importante, aprendí que con mi arte podía tocar el corazón de muchísimas personas y hacerles sentir un sinfín de emociones. Podía transmitirles lo que yo quiero que ellos sientan y darles una experiencia inolvidable”.
La máxima satisfacción en sus años de ejecutante ha sido ver que “con disciplina, muchísima dedicación y todo mi corazón todo lo que me propongo lo puedo lograr”.
Pero también ha tenido que pagar un precio: “Para mí el ballet siempre ha sido algo que me llena de felicidad y tranquilidad. Desafortunadamente, sí es una carrera llena de sacrificios. Desde vivir lejos de mi familia hasta pasar semanas sin ningún día de descanso, ensayando desde las 10 a.m. hasta las 7:30 p.m. Es una carrera muy dura donde hay muchas envidias, mucho estrés y mucho cansancio. Pero si es algo que realmente amas como yo y si es algo que te llena plenamente, vale la pena. Cuando estoy en el escenario en frente de miles de personas haciendo lo que más me gusta en este mundo me siento en las nubes y total y absolutamente feliz”.
Since Mara Thompson de la Rosa was a child, her name has been associated with ballet, a discipline at which she quickly excelled. Her skill allowed
her to attend the Institute of Art in Bordeaux, France; the Universal Ballet Academy (Kirov Academy) in Washington; the Royal Ballet School in London; the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School at the American Ballet Theatre; the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Ameri-can Ballet Theatre II and Complexions Contemporary Ballet in New York.
And she’s only 21 years old. Her experience in schools, companies and competitions in Mexico and abroad make her want to open a classical dance school in her hometown at some point in the near fu-ture. “I feel this is a city with lots of opportunity and where there are many people who would like to learn to dance. I would love to be able to offer something within my own country, which contributes something as wonderful as ballet. Running a ballet company one day is also a very interesting idea and something that I think I would love to do.”

The greatest satisfaction in her time as a performer has been seeing that “with discipline, dedication and all of my heart I can do whatever I set out to do.”
Sus bailarines favoritos son Paloma Herrera, Alessandra Ferri, Ángel Corella, Svetlana Zakharova y Marcelo Gomes y entre las obras que prefiere están “Romeo y Julieta”, “Don Quijote” y “El lago de los cisnes”.
“Aparte de que son ballets con coreografías y músicas hermosas, lo que me llama mucho la atención es el personaje de la bailarina principal. En ‘El lago de los cisnes’ los papeles de Odette y Odile son muy complejos, difíciles técnicamente pero aún más artísticamente, ya que debes transmitir muy diferentes estilos con ambos. ‘Don Quijote’ me encanta porque me puedo divertir mucho con el papel de Kitri. Aparte puedo expresar mi juventud y darle mi toque latino. ‘Romeo y Julieta’ me llena de emoción y la última escena siempre me hace llorar, es un ballet con una música hermosísima y muy sentimental”.
Aún hay mucho por vivir y Mara se visualiza en el futuro como una persona “realizada y muy contenta”. Planea cultivar más el aspecto intelectual, porque “me gustaría aprender mucho más sobre diferentes temas y completar una carrera universitaria”.
“También me gustaría seguir viajando y algún día formar mi propia familia”.
A quienes desean seguir sus pasos en la danza clásica les aconseja que mantengan los pies en la tierra “mientras que sus metas estén más allá de las nubes”.
“Si es algo que realmente los apasiona, le dediquen todo su ser y que aun en esos días cuando sientan que no son suficientemente buenos o ya no quieren seguir tratando le pongan más esfuerzo y recuerden qué es lo que los motiva a bailar”.
“Agradezco todas las oportunidades que he tenido en las mejores compañías de ballet y danza contemporánea en el mundo, lo que me ha abierto muchas puertas. El apoyo de mis patrocinadores y de México ha sido importante para mi carrera”
Her love affair with ballet began “from a very young age” as a result of her love of classical music. “Being able to express myself through movement and enjoying music at the same time was something I found incredible. Time and years went by and my love for ballet and dance kept growing. I learned to develop and perfect my technique, but, more impor-tantly, I learned that with my art I could touch the hearts of many people and make them feel a myriad of emotions. I was able to convey what I wanted them to feel, and share an un-forgettable experience with them.”
The greatest satisfaction in her time as a performer has been seeing that “with disci-pline, dedication and all of my heart I can do whatever I set out to do.”
However, she has also had a price to pay: “For me, ballet has always been something that fills me with happiness and tranquility.

“Cuando estoy en el escenario frente a miles de personas haciendo lo que más me gusta en este mundo, me siento en las nubes y total y absolutamente feliz”.
Unfortunately, it is a career full of sacrifices. From living away from my family to going weeks without a day of rest, rehearsing from 10 a.m. to 7:30 pm. It’s a tough career, rife with envy, stress and exhaustion. But if it is something you really love, like I do, and if it’s something you find fulfilling, it’s worth it. When I’m on stage in front of thousands of people doing what I love most in this world I feel like I’m in the clouds and totally and absolutely happy.”
Her favorite dancers are Paloma Herrera, Ales-sandra Ferri, Angel Corella, Svetlana Zakharova and Marcelo Gomes (all ABT artists and/or former stars) and the plays she prefers include “Romeo and Juliet”, “Don Quixote” and “Swan Lake.”
“Besides being ballets with beautiful choreogra-phies and music, what really stands out to me is the character of the lead dancer. In ‘Swan Lake’ the roles of Odette and Odile are very complex, technically dif-ficult but even more so artistically, since you have to convey very different styles with both. ‘Don Quixote’ I love because I can have so much fun with the role of Kitri. Besides I can express my youth and give her my Latin touch. ‘Romeo and Juliet’ fills me with emotion and the last scene always makes me cry, it’s a ballet with beautiful music, and very sentimental.”
Still with a long road ahead of her, Mara sees her future self as a “fulfilled, happy” person. She plans to cultivate more her intellectual side, as she “would like to learn more about different topics and complete a university degree.”
“I would also like to continue traveling and some-day start my own family.”
Her advice to those wishing to follow in her footsteps in classical dance is to keep their feet on the ground “while their goals are beyond the clouds.”
“If it’s something you’re really passionate about, devote your whole being to it, and even in those days when you feel you are not good enough or you do not want to keep trying, make an effort and remember what motivates you to dance.”

So, in 2012, the company that Bill Gates founded bets on the eighth version of Windows, which implies a complete redesign and not just an improvement of their previous services. “It’s the fusion of two worlds: the desktop and the services just as you know them and a new and completely intuitive platform that can be used by touch or with a mouse and keyboard, according with the options given by whatever device is being used”, explains Eduardo Maza, Windows 8 product manager.

que ocupa toda la pantalla, en el que se presentan los distintos servicios y aplicaciones en cuadros de colores. El usuario también puede acceder a los servicios de escritorio y ventanas, tal como las conoció en las anteriores versiones de Windows, cuyo modelo XP desaparecerá en 2014.
En México, Windows 8 está disponible en 150 modelos de distintas marcas, tales como Acer, ASUS, Dell, Lenovo, HP, Samsung Electronics, Sony Vaio y Toshiba, que ofrecen desde compactos, tabletas, convertibles y portátiles ligeros, hasta grandes y potentes dispositivos “All in One” con pantallas de alta definición, de gran tamaño y con superficie táctil.
En cuanto a los precios, la paquetería está disponible en tiendas departamentales y de electrónica por 1,099 pesos; en su versión en línea se consigue en 529 y la actualización para la versión 7 tiene un precio de 199 pesos.
La experiencia es la claveCon el lanzamiento de Windows 8 surge en el mundo
de la tecnología la expectativa de ver si el nuevo producto supera a la competencia, pero en los hechos será el perfil del usuario lo que definirá el cambio o no de plataforma.
“El uso de los sistemas operativos depende de las necesidades del usuario, y hasta de la costumbre, pues hay quienes están familiarizados con una plataforma y no la cambian por nada, sin importar innovaciones y bondades de las nuevas versiones”, considera el ingeniero Gaspar Canto Marín, gerente de la empresa Smart Systems, consultado sobre las características y ventajas de estos softwares.
Sobre el flamante Windows, destaca su orientación a los dispositivos táctiles y monitores de PC que ya tienen esta opción.
“El Windows 8 despliega en la pantalla principal todos los elementos en un menú extendido para tener accesos directos a aplicaciones como fotos, conexión a internet, música y cualquier otro que el usuario desee agregar para tener a la mano”, comenta. “Esta característica aplica también para ‘smartphone’, y es una de las principales diferencias en relación con las versiones anteriores, su apuesta a los dispositivos ‘touch’.

Elementos diferentesSobre el Mac OS, el principal competidor de Microsoft en
cuestión de sistemas operativos, el ingeniero Canto Marín señala que desde su origen es muy gráfica, y la principal diferencia entre ambos era “la distinción entre el hardware de soporte, es decir, el procesador y las tarjetas madre para ejecutarlos eran diferentes, pero ahora usan el mismo procesador, el Intel”.
“De alguna manera Mac está un poco adelantado con respecto a Windows en los gráficos, su principal ventaja competitiva”, apunta.
Uno de los últimos productos de Mac, el Mountain Lion, viene con la disponibilidad gráfica y con una pantalla desplegada en “L” donde se distribuyen los íconos.
Otras plataformas como Linux, detalla, son amigables y eficientes, con un hardware que no pide muchos recursos para funcionar.
“Es muy utilizado para el trabajo en grupo, es decir, para los servidores, y es uno de los más populares porque es abierto y permite realizar modificaciones, lo cual significa que cualquiera puede hacer cambios y adecuaciones para mejorarlo”, abunda.
Respecto al Android, Canto Marín indica que es igualmente popular por la misma razón que el Linux: una plataforma abierta que da la posibilidad de instalar muchas aplicaciones.
“Algo importante sobre las aplicaciones es la rapidez con que se ejecutan tras la instalación; el asunto de la velocidad motiva al usuario a inclinarse por una u otra plataforma”, dice.
“En síntesis, el mejor sistema operativo depende de la experiencia del usuario y la eficiencia para sus necesidades, pero estas diferencias sólo podrán apreciarse según se vaya conociendo el Windows 8, para hacer una comparación efectiva”, concluye.
La nueva versión del sistema operativo fue lanzada al mercado latinoamericano el 26 de octubre.

The new version of the operating system was released to the Latin-American market on October 26.

Cuando Christopher McDougal decidió escribir el libro “Born to run” jamás se hubiera imaginado lo que desataría su
investigación personal. No sólo se ha convertido en un bestseller sino en un movimiento mundial.
Una de las personas que fueron influenciadas por el libro fue el español Álvaro Sánchez Novoa, de 38 años, quien al igual que el autor del libro sufría de lesiones al correr. ¿Qué factor ocasionaba que se lastimara? La mala posición y usar tenis.
El periodista americano Christopher McDougal empezó una investigación que lo llevó convivir con los tarahumaras de las Barrancas del Cobre en Chi-huahua, corredores natos y que son una muestra que el correr más que ser ejercicio es un estilo de vida. Actividad que en el pasado era una forma de supervivencia de nuestros antepasados.

One of the people who were influenced by the book was 38-year-old Spaniard Alvaro Sánchez Novoa, who, just like the author of the book, suffered from running injuries. What caused him to get hurt? Bad posture and wearing running shoes. American journalist Christopher McDougal began an investigation that led him to live with the Tarahumara people, in Copper Canyon, Chihuahua. The Tarahu-maras are born runners, and proof that running, more than exercise, is a lifestyle, as it was once our ancestors’ means of survival.

In this world feeling free can be tricky. Many agree that running is the closest thing to
freedom, but what if it were done barefoot?
“La evolución más importante del humano ha sido el pie”, afirma Sánchez Novoa, empresario de marketing online, quien junto con su amigo Santiago Ruiz decidió abrir el blog cualquierapuedehacerlo.es, un espacio en el que los nuevos corredores pueden encontrar información y apoyo para esta nueva tendencia.
El cuerpo humano está hecho para correr y resistir grandes distancias. “Cuando corres descalzo casi puedes sentir que estás en un selva cazando tu presa”, afirma Sánchez Novoa.
El conectarse de nuevo con la naturaleza: sentir la arena, el pasto, asfalto y la tierra te permite recuperar la sensibilidad del pie, zona por la cual puedes percibir muchas cosas.
“La primera vez que corrí descalzó sentí miedo, piensas que te puedes hacer daño y que al no estar en un terreno uniforme te vas a lastimar pero te das cuenta de que no es así” comenta sonriente Álvaro.
Aunque más personas se están interesando en correr descalzos aún hay gente que no deja se sorprenderse. “Participamos en los maratones y cuando nos ven descalzos nos preguntan qué se siente o si nos lastimamos. A muchas personas les da vergüenza estar descalzos”, agrega.

The human body is made to successfully run long distances. “When you run barefoot you can almost feel you’re in a jungle, hunting your prey,” Sanchez Novoa says.
Reconnecting with nature by feeling the sand, the grass, the pavement and the earth allows you to recover the sensitivity of the foot area, through which you can perceive many things.
“The first time I ran barefoot I was scared; you think you might get hurt, and that you might injure yourself not being on a level surface, but then you realize that never happens” Alvaro said, smiling.
Although more people are becoming interested in running barefoot, there are still people who find themselves surprised. “We participate in marathons and when they see us barefoot they ask what it feels like, or if we get hurt. Many people are embarrassed to be barefoot,” he adds.

Santiago ha participado en varias carreras de montaña como la MiM que se realiza en la ciudad de Castellón, España, que este año contempló la categoría minimalista. Santiago tuvo la oportunidad de competir con 12 personas más y quedó en el segundo lugar.
El correr descalzo además de ser una experiencia nueva que te regresa a los orígenes estimula el crecimiento del pie. En la actualidad el grupo que encabezan Álvaro y Santiago es de grupo 330 personas de las cuales más de 30 practican barefoot.
“Espero que la gente se de cuenta de que esto no es una moda, no te resfrías, no te lastimas y somos una comunidad que quiere conectarse con más personas que tengan esta afición y compartir experiencias”, afirma Álvaro.

El 18 de agosto de 1936 el mundo se detuvo por unos instantes. Era la madrugada. Sus últimos pasos se convirtieron en mito. Disparos secos y vacíos bañaron de sangre oscura y densa la pechera que un día él mismo
inmortalizó en sus poemas a la tierra andaluza. Ahí quedó, inmóvil, junto con otros tres cuerpos -el de un maestro y dos banderilleros- en una fosa común sin hallar hasta hoy, entre la tierra seca de los olivares granadinos, en el camino estrellado, dicen, que va de Víznar a Alfacar, con miles de grillos llorando su muerte y la luna como testigo y confidente perenne.
Federico García Lorca -una de las voces más importantes de la inolvidable y brillante Generación del 27, cuya luz creativa se apagó con la muerte de Francisco Ayala en 2009- había sido ejecutado en medio de la sinrazón y el salvajismo desmedido de la Guerra Civil española. Este año se cumplen 76 años de la ausencia del inmortal Lorca.

Es difícil destacar una obra o tema en especial de Federico García Lorca en medio de su vasta y prolija creación literaria. Sin embargo, luz propia tienen obras de teatro en las que retrata, como nadie lo había hecho, la dura realidad de una Andalucía estancada en el campo y la pobreza, donde las relaciones interpersonales se rigen bajo el poder masculino. “La trilogía dramática de la Tierra Española”, digna representante de esta realidad, es parte de la historia de la literatura con sus tres obras de teatro casi inmortalizadas: “Yerma”, “Bodas de Sangre” y “La Casa de Bernarda Alba”.

It’s hard to highlight just one particular work or topic by Federico Garcia Lorca from his vast and long literary work. However, the stage plays in which he portrays, as no one had ever done before, the harsh reality of the stagnant Andalusian fields and poverty, where interpersonal relationships are governed by male power, shine on their own. “The dramatic trilogy of the Spanish Land”, a worthy representative of this reality, is part of the history of literature with its three almost immortal plays: “Yerma”, “Blood Wedding” and “The House of Bernarda Alba”.

Entre su producción poemática destacan dos obras universales: “Poeta en Nueva York”, digno representante del surrealismo y reflejo intimista de sus recuerdos, su pasión y tristeza, y, especialmente, “Romancero gitano”, donde los olores, los colores, la brisa, el tacto de la tierra, la pasión y la muerte se funden para lograr una obra excelsa. “Un libro donde apenas está expresada la Andalucía que se ve, pero sí la que se siente. Hay solo un personaje real, que es la pena que se filtra. Un sentimiento más celeste que terrestre”, comentó en el Ateneo Guipuzcuano el propio Lorca, durante una lectura del poemario cuatro meses antes de su muerte.
Luego, su voz y su rastro se apagaron, pero no sus letras, ni sus críticos ni estudiosos. Lorca es para las letras lo que The Beatles es para la música, lo que Marylin Monroe significa para el cine. Incluso el cine español trató de imaginarse una vida actual con Lorca, encarnado en un anciano que no murió aquella funesta madrugada de 1936. La película, “La luz prodigiosa” (Miguel Hermoso, 2003), remueve los hilos de este mito granadino.
Sirva este artículo como recuerdo a la muerte de un mito, como lo hizo en su día el poeta Antonio Machado:

His poetic production includes two universal works: “Poet in New York”, a worthy representative of surrealism and an intimate reflection on his memories, his passion and sadness, and especially “Gypsy Ballads”, where the smells, the colors, the breeze, the feel of the earth, as well as passion and death come together to achieve a sublime work. “A book that is barely about the Andalusia you can see, but about the one you can feel. There is only one real character, which is the pain that seeps. A more celestial than terrestrial sentiment,” Lorca himself said, during a poem reading at the Ateneo Guipuzcuano four months before his death.
Then his voice and his trail disappeared, but not his words, nor their critics and scholars. Lorca is to literature what The Beatles are to music, what Marylin Monroe is to film. Even Spanish cinema tried to imagine what life would be like today with Lorca, as an old man who did not die that fateful morning in 1936. The film, “The marvelous light” (Miguel Hermoso, 2003), pulls the strings of this mythical poet from Granada.
May this article serve as a reminder of the death of a myth, as poet Antonio Machado once did:

In the David Gelb documentary, Jiro Dreams Of Sushi, 85-year-old JiroOno, winner of three michelin stars, believes he has not yet reached perfection. “Nobody knows where the top is,” he says. That’s why his influence and legacy will have to go to his son Yoshikazu, who sill probably bear the great weight of the ghost of his father, despite having been thoroughly trained, and being almost as good as him.

Como diría el mismo Bilbo “el camino sigue y sigue”, y gracias a Peter Jackson seguiremos por éste camino de películas épicas que hasta ahora no han decepcionado a los fanáticos de la serie ni al público en general.

The movies we’re used to seeing are shot at 24 frames per second, Jackson has filmed his new trilogy at a speed of 48 frames per second, which according to him gives the movie a much more realistic look, specially when seen on 3D.
As Bilbo would say “The road goes ever on and on”, and thanks to Peter Jackson we will follow on this path of epic movies that have not let down either the fans of the series or the general audiences.
