Un acto para el fomento del aprendizaje, la adquisicin de derechos por las copias de libros

impresos en los autores o compradores de copias ya disponibles, en los momentos que all semencionan.

I. Considerando que, impresoras, libreros y otras personas que tienen en los ltimos tiempos

tomado con frecuencia la libertad de la impresin, la reimpresin y publicacin, o hacer que se vaa imprimir, reimpreso, y publicados, libros y otros escritos, sin el consentimiento de los autores opropietarios de libros y escritos ya disponibles, para su gran detrimento, y con demasiadafrecuencia a la ruina de ellos y sus familias: para prevenir las prcticas tanto ya disponibles para elfuturo, y por el nimo de los hombres aprendieron a componer y escribir libros tiles; Con la veniade su Majestad, que puede ser promulgada, y sea promulgado por ms excelente Majestad la

Reina, por y con el consejo y consentimiento de los Lores espirituales y temporales y los Comunes,en este presente Parlamento reunido, y por la autoridad de la misma;

II. Que a partir del dcimo da del mes de abril, un mil setecientos diez, el autor de un libro o de loslibros impresos Ya, pues que no ha transferido a cualquier otra copia o copias del libro o libros yadisponibles, accin o acciones del mismo, o el librero o libreros, impresora o impresoras, u otrapersona o personas, el que tiene o ha comprado o adquirido la copia o copias de cualquier libro olibros, con el fin de imprimir o reimprimir la misma, el sol tendr el derecho y la libertad de laimprenta libros y libros ya disponibles para el trmino de veintin aos, para comenzar a partir dedicho da diez de abril, y ya no; y que el autor de un libro o de los libros ya compuesta, y noimpreso y publicado, o que en lo sucesivo estar integrado, y su cesionario o cesionarios, el soltiene la libertad de imprenta y la reimpresin de libros y libros ya disponibles para el trmino decatorce aos , que comenzar a partir del da de la primera publicacin de la misma, y ya no; Eso, ysi algn otro librero, impresora o cualquier otra persona que sea, desde y despus del dcimo dadel mes de abril, un mil setecientos diez y conceder dentro de los tiempos limitados por esteacto, de dicha manera, Shall imprimir, reimprimir, o importacin, o hacer que se imprima,reimpreso, o importados, cualquier libro o libros ya disponibles, sin el consentimiento delpropietario o propietarios de los mismos primero tena y obtuvo por escrito, firmada en presenciade dos testigos o moras crebles; o saber que la misma sea de manera impresa o reproducida sin elconsentimiento de los propietarios, podr vender, publicar o exponer para la venta, o hacer que se

vende, publicado o expuesto a la venta, cualquier libro o libros ya disponibles, sin el permiso yadisponible Obtenido primera tenido y, como se ha dicho: entonces ya culpable o culpablesdisponibles perder ms largo del libro, o libros, y todos y cada hoja u hojas, siendo parte deltiempo libro o los libros disponibles, al propietario o propietarios de la copia de la misma, quieninformar inmediatamente de damasco , y hacer que el papel usado de ellos; y adems, que cada

autor o los autores ya disponibles perder un penique por cada hoja que se hallare en el suyo, ella,o bajo su custodia, ya sea impreso o en la impresin, publicado o expuesto a Contrariamente sal ala verdadera intencin y significado de este acto; el resto de la misma a ms excelente Majestad laReina, sus herederos y sucesores, y la otra mitad de la misma a cualquier persona o personas quehabrn de ella por el mismo, que se recupera en cualquiera de los tribunales de Su Majestadregistrados al Westminster, por la accin de deuda, cuenta, queja o informacin, en el que noapuesta de derecho, essoin, privilegio o proteccin, o moras de un imparlance se permitir. II. Y

que muchas personas pueden por ignorancia ofender en contra de esta ley, salvo que hacersealguna provisin, por el cual la propiedad disponible ya en todos los libros, ya que se pretende coneste acto para ser asegurado al propietario o propietarios de los mismos, se puede averiguar,

como asimismo el consentimiento de ms tiempo disponible propietario o propietarios de laimpresin o reimpresin de libros o libros ya disponibles de vez en cuando puede ser conocido;

Por lo tanto ser an ms Top Decretado por la autoridad antedicha

Que nada en este acto contenido se interpretar para extender someter cualquier librero,impresor, o cualquier otra persona que sea, a los decomisos o sanciones mismo mencionados, afavor o en razn de que la impresin o reimpresin de cualquier libro o libros ya disponible sinconsentimiento, dicha manera, menos que el ttulo ya est disponible en la copia del libro o librospublicados desde ahora, la publicacin antes de tiempo disponible, se inscribir en el libro deregistro de la empresa de papelera ya disponibles en la forma habitual como la ha habido, quedeber registrar el libro en todo momento se mantuvo en el saln de la citada empresa, y yadisponible a menos que el consentimiento del propietario o propietarios pueden introducir en lamisma manera como se ha dicho, para cada cual de varias entradas, seis peniques se pagarn, ynada ms; Qu dijo regstrate libro puede, en todo momento oportuno y conveniente, serecurrir a una, y revisar por cualquier librero, impresora, u otra persona, a los efectos antesmencionados, sin ninguna cuota o recompensa; y el secretario de la citada empresa de papeleratomarn, cuando y cuantas veces sea necesario en ello, dar un certificado de bajo Su mano yaentrada o las entradas disponibles, y por cada certificado puede tardar ms tiempo disponible una

tarifa que no exceda de seis peniques.

III. Sin embargo Disponindose, que si el secretario de la citada empresa de papelera, por elmomento, se negar o negligencia inscribirse, o hacer la entrada o entradas ya disponibles, o paradar ms tiempo a disposicin certificado, siendo en ello requiera el autor o el titular de copia o yadisponibles ejemplares, en presencia de dos testigos o moras crebles, Esa persona ya disponible y

personas que rehsen conocimientos, habiendo sido debidamente notificada de la negativa yadisponibles, por un anuncio en la Gaceta, tendr el beneficio similar, como si ya la entrada oentradas disponibles, certificado o certificados debidamente hechas y se les haba dado; y Que losvendedores saben Negarse, aprobar, por cualquier delito ya disponibles, perder al titular de mslargo o ms ejemplares de la suma de veinte libras, para ser recuperada en cualquiera de los

tribunales de Su Majestad de registro en Westminster, por la accin de la deuda, la facturadisponible, queja o informacin, en el que no apuesta de derecho, essoin, privilegio o proteccin,o moras de un imparlance se permitir.

IV. A condicin Sin embargo, y es Promulgada por la autoridad antedicha presente ms arriba, quesi cualquier librero o libreros, impresora o impresoras, examinar, despus del dicho veinticincodas del mes de marzo, un mil setecientos diez fij un precio a, o vender o exponer a la venta,cualquier libro o libros ya disponibles a un precio o tasa que se ha de concebir por cualquierpersona o personas a ser demasiado alto y poco razonable; debe y puede ser lcito para cualquier

persona o personas, para hacer de la misma queja al arzobispo de Canterbury, seor, por elmomento, el lord canciller, o seor guardin del gran sello de la Gran Bretaa, por el momento, elseor obispo de Londres, por el momento, el principal seor juez de la corte del Tribunal de laReina, el principal seor juez de la corte de splicas comunes, el principal seor barn de la cortedel ministerio de Hacienda, por el momento, los vicerrectores de las dos universidades para Demomento, en el que parte de la Gran Bretaa llama Inglaterra; el presidente seor de las sesiones,por el momento, el principal seor la justicia general, por el momento, el principal seor barn delministerio de Hacienda, por el momento, el rector de la universidad de Edimburgo, por elmomento, en que parte de la Gran Gran Bretaa llam Escocia; quin, o cualquiera de ellos,tendrn y por este medio tienen todo el poder y la autoridad, de vez en cuando, para enviar a,convocar o llamar ante l o ellos ya librero disponible o libreros, impresora o impresoras, y paraexaminar y consultar el razn de la caresta y inhauncement del precio o el valor de tiempo libro olibros disponibles por l o ellos as vendidos o expuestos a la venta; y si ya disponibles sobre lainvestigacin y el examen se hallar, que el precio de los libros se inhaunced ya disponibles o unlibro, o inmuebles para esta demasiado alto o no razonables, y luego ya disponibles sabios en elcitado arzobispo de Canterbury, Lord Canciller o criador seor, obispo de Londres, dos presidentesde tribunal, baron jefe, vicerrectores de las universidades, en el que parte de la Gran Bretaallama Inglaterra, y el dicho presidente seor de las sesiones, seor la justicia general, barnprincipal seor, y el rector de la universidad de Edimburgo, en que parte de Gran Bretaa llamado

Escocia, o uno o ms de ellos, s que indagar y examinar, tener presente todo el poder y laautoridad para reformar y corregir el mismo, y para limitar y liquidar el precio de todos los librosimpresos ms tiempo disponible y los libros, de vez en cuando, de acuerdo con sus juiciosfuncionales de los mejores, y como a ellos les parezca justo y razonable; y en caso de alteracin dela tasa o el precio de lo que se exige ms tiempo disponible Set o librero o libreros, impresora oimpresoras, a adjudicar y el orden ya los libreros y libreras disponibles, la impresora y lasimpresoras, para pagar todos los costos y gastos que la persona o personas que se quejan

presencia me pusieron a, con motivo de la queja ya disponibles, ocasionando un mayor disponibley de la tasa o precio de ser tan limitada y se establecieron; Qu ser de todos por hacer por elmencionado arzobispo de Canterbury, Lord Canciller o criador seor, obispo de Londres, dospresidentes de tribunal, barn jefe, vicerrectores de las dos universidades, en que parte de GranBretaa llamado Inglaterra, y el dicho presidente seor de las sesiones, seor la justicia general,

barn principal seor, y rector de la universidad de Edimburgo, en el que parte de la Gran Bretaallaman Escocia, o cualquiera de ellos, escribiendo bajo sus manos y los sellos, y el aviso publickmismos que sern inmediatamente A cargo de la citada librero o libreros, impresora o impresoras,por un anuncio en el Boletn Oficial; y si algn librero o libreros, impresora o impresoras, deber,despus de la liquidacin ya disponible realizada de dicha tasa y precio, vender o exponer a laventa, cualquier libro o libros, o mayor a un precio ms alto, que lo que ha de haber sido tanlimitada y se establecieron, como se ha dicho, entonces, y en todos los casos ya disponibles

libreros y libreros ya disponibles, la impresora y las impresoras, perder la suma de cinco libras porcada libro ya disponibles por l, ella, o ellos venden o se exponen a la venta; un resto del mismo ams excelente Majestad la Reina, sus herederos y sucesores, y la otra mitad a cualquier persona o

personas que habrn de ella por el mismo, que se recuper, con las costas del juicio, en cualquierade los tribunales de Su Majestad registrados al Westminster , por la accin de la deuda, cuenta,queja o informacin, en la que no se conceder ninguna apuesta de derecho, essoin, privilegio o

proteccin, o moras de un imparlance.

V. Siempre Siempre, y por la presente se promulga Eso nueve copias de cada libro o libros, sobre elmejor papel, que a partir de dicho dcimo da del mes de abril, un mil setecientos diez, seimprimirn y publicarn, como antes mencionada, o reimpreso y publicado con adiciones, seencargar, mediante la impresora y las impresoras de la misma, se entregarn al depositario dedicha empresa de papelera, por el momento, en la sala de la citada empresa, antes de lapublicacin hecha ya disponibles, para el uso de la Biblioteca Real, las bibliotecas de lasuniversidades de Oxford y Cambridge, las bibliotecas de las cuatro universidades en Escocia, labiblioteca de Sion College de Londres, y la biblioteca Comnmente llamada la bibliotecaPerteneciente a la facultad de los abogados en Edimburgo, respectivamente; Depositario presentese requiere un plazo de diez das despus de la demanda por los poseedores de las bibliotecasrespectivas, o cualquier persona o personas por ellos o cualquiera de ellos autorizado para exigirdicha copia, para entregar la misma, para el uso de las bibliotecas mencionados Qu dijo ; y sialgn propietario, librero, o impresora, o que dicho depositario de dicha empresa de papelera,

tampoco el observar el sentido de este acto en l, que luego l y que saben lo que de formapredeterminada en no entregar dichos ejemplares impresos, como se ha dicho , perder, ademsdel valor de dichos ejemplares impresos, la suma de cinco libras por cada copia no tan entregado,como tambin el valor de dicha copia impresa no haya realizado tal entrega, la misma que debenrecuperarse por la reina de la majestad, sus herederos y sucesores, y por el canciller, maestros yestudiosos de cualquiera de las citadas universidades, y por el presidente y los becarios de Sion

College, y dicha facultad de los abogados en Edimburgo, con sus costos totales, respectivamente.

VI. Siempre y siempre, y asimismo Top Decretado, que si cualquier persona o personas incurren enlas sanciones previstas en esta Ley, en que parte de Gran Bretaa llamada Escocia, que sern

recuperables por cualquier accin ante el tribunal de la sesin all.

VII. Disponindose, que nada en este acto contena, no se extienden o se interpretar como unaprohibicin a la importacin, la venta, o la venta de libros en griego, latn o cualquier otro idiomaextranjero impresa ms all de los mares; cualquier cosa en este acto contena al pesar

Contrariamente.

VIII. Y que sea principio ms Promulgado por la autoridad antedicha que si alguna accin odemanda, iniciar o habr de dirigirse contra cualquier persona o personas que sea, para hacer ocausar que hacer cualquier cosa en virtud de la presente Ley, los acusados pueden alegar en

accin ya disponible la cuestin general, y dar a la materia especial en la evidencia; y si al tiempode accin disponibles para ser Dada veredicto para el acusado o el demandante convertirsenonsuited o discontinua Su accin, entonces el acusado tendr y recuperar sus costos totales, para

lo cual deber tener el mismo remedio como acusado en cualquier caso por hath ley.

IX. Disponindose, que nada en este acto contenida se extender, ni se interpretar de extender,ya sea para confirmar cualquier derecho o perjuicio que dichas universidades, o cualquiera de

ellos, o de cualquier persona o personas que tienen, o dicen tener, para la impresin o el Yareimprimir cualquier libro o copia impresa, o en el futuro que desea imprimir.

Sin embargo X. Disponindose, que todas las acciones, demandas, facturas, acusaciones oinformaciones para cualquier delito que fuere cometido contra esta Ley, debe ser llevada,demandaron, y comenzaron plazo de tres meses siguiente ofensa despus ya disponible cometido,o de lo contrario la misma ser nulo y sin efecto.

XI. Siempre y siempre, que despus de la expiracin de dicho plazo de catorce aos, el derecho desol de la impresin o la eliminacin de copias volver a los autores de los mismos, si estn viviendo

entonces, para un nuevo mandato de catorce aos.

An act for the encouragement of learning, by vesting the copies of printed books in theauthors or purchasers of such copies, during the times therein mentioned.

I. Whereas printers, booksellers, and other persons have of late frequently taken the libertyof printing, reprinting, and publishing, or causing to be printed, reprinted, and published, booksand other writings, without the consent of the authors or proprietors of such books and writings,to their very great detriment, and too often to the ruin of them and their families: for preventingtherefore such practices for the future, and for the encouragement of learned men to composeand write useful books; may it please your Majesty, that it may be enacted, and be it enactedby the Queen's most excellent majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the lordsspiritual and temporal, and commons, in this present parliament assembled, and by theauthority of the same;

II. That from and after the tenth day of April, one thousand seven hundred and ten, theauthor of any book or books already printed, who hath not transferred to any other the copy orcopies of such book or books, share or shares thereof, or the bookseller or booksellers, printeror printers, or other person or persons, who hath or have purchased or acquired the copy orcopies of any book or books, in order to print or reprint the same, shall have the sole right andliberty of printing such book and books for the term of one and twenty years, to commencefrom the said tenth day of April, and no longer; and That the author of any book or booksalready composed, and not printed and published, or that shall hereafter be composed, and hisassignee or assigns, shall have the sole liberty of printing and reprinting such book and booksfor the term of fourteen years, to commence from the day of the first publishing the same, and

no longer; and That if any other bookseller, printer or other person whatsoever, from and afterthe tenth day of April, one thousand seven hundred and ten, within the times granted andlimited by this act, as aforesaid, shall print, reprint, or import, or cause to be printed, reprinted,or imported, any such book or books, without the consent of the proprietor or proprietorsthereof first had and obtained in writing, signed in the presence of two or more crediblewitnesses; or knowing the same to be so printed or reprinted, without the consent of theproprietors, shall sell, publish, or expose to sale, or cause to be sold, published, or exposed tosale, any such book or books, without such consent first had and obtained, as aforesaid: thensuch offender or offenders shall forfeit such book or books, and all and every sheet or sheets,

being part of such book or books, to the proprietor or proprietors of the copy thereof, who shallforthwith damask, and make waste paper of them; and further, That every such offender oroffenders shall forfeit one penny for every sheet which shall be found in his, her, or theircustody, either printed or printing, published, or exposed to sale, contrary to the true intent andmeaning of this act; the one moiety thereof to the Queen's most excellent majesty, her heirsand successors, and the other moiety thereof to any person or persons that shall sue for thesame, to be recovered in any of her Majesty's courts of record at Westminister, by action ofdebt, bill, plaint, or information, in which no wager of law, essoin, privilege, or protection, ormore than one imparlance shall be allowed. II. And whereas many persons may throughignorance offend against this act, unless some provision be made, whereby the property inevery such book, as is intended by this act to be secured to the proprietor or proprietorsthereof, may be ascertained, as likewise the consent of such proprietor or proprietors for theprinting or reprinting of such book or books may from time to time be known; be it thereforefurther enacted by the authority aforesaid,

That nothing in this act contained shall be construed to extend to subject any bookseller,printer, or other person whatsoever, to the forfeitures or penalties therein mentioned, for or byreason of the printing or reprinting of any book or books without such consent, as aforesaid,unless the title to the copy of such book or books hereafter published shall, before suchpublication, be entered in the register book of the company of stationers, in such manner ashath been usual, which register book shall at all times be kept at the hall of the said company,and unless such consent of the proprietor or proprietors be in like manner entered asaforesaid, for every of which several entries, six pence shall be paid, and no more; which saidregister book may, at all seasonable and convenient time, be resorted to, and inspected by anybookseller, printer, or other person, for the purposes before-mentioned, without any fee orreward; and the clerk of the said company of stationers shall, when and as often as thereuntorequired, give a certificate under his hand of such entry or entries, and for every suchcertificate may take a fee not exceeding six pence.

III. Provided nevertheless, That if the clerk of the said company of stationers for the timebeing, shall refuse or neglect to register, or make such entry or entries, or to give suchcertificate, being thereunto required by the author or proprietor of such copy or copies, in thepresence of two or more credible witnesses, That then such person and persons so refusing,notice being first duly given of such refusal, by an advertisement in the Gazette, shall have thelike benefit, as if such entry or entries, certificate or certificates had been duly made and given;and that the clerks so refusing, shall, for any such offence, forfeit to the proprietor of such copyor copies the sum of twenty pounds, to be recovered in any of her Majesty's courts of record atWestminster, by action of debt, bill, plaint, or information, in which no wager of law, essoin,privilege or protection, or more than one imparlance shall be allowed.

IV. Provided nevertheless, and it is hereby further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That

if any bookseller or booksellers, printer or printers, shall, after the said five and twentieth day ofMarch, one thousand seven hundred and ten, set a price upon, or sell, or expose to sale, anybook or books at such a price or rate as shall be conceived by any person or persons to be toohigh and unreasonable; it shall and may be lawful for any person or persons, to makecomplaint thereof to the lord archbishop of Canterbury for the time being, the lord chancellor, orlord keeper of the great seal of Great Britain for the time being, the lord bishop of London forthe time being, the lord chief justice of the court of Queen's Bench, the lord chief justice of thecourt of Common Pleas, the lord chief baron of the court of Exchequer for the time being, thevice chancellors of the two universities for the time being, in that part of Great Britain called

England; the lord president of the sessions for the time being, the lord chief justice general forthe time being, the lord chief baron of the Exchequer for the time being, the rector of thecollege of Edinburgh for the time being, in that part of Great Britain called Scotland; who, orany one of them, shall and have hereby full power and authority, from time to time, to send for,summon, or call before him or them such bookseller or booksellers, printer or printers, and toexamine and enquire of the reason of the dearness and inhauncement of the price or value ofsuch book or books by him or them so sold or exposed to sale; and if upon such enquiry andexamination it shall be found, that the price of such book or books is inhaunced, or any wisetoo high or unreasonable, then and in such case the said archbishop of Canterbury, lordchancellor or lord keeper, bishop of London, two chief justices, chief baron, vice chancellors ofthe universities, in that part of Great Britain called England, and the said lord president of thesessions, lord justice general, lord chief baron, and the rector of the college of Edinburgh, inthat part of Great Britain called Scotland, or any one or more of them, so enquiring andexamining, have hereby full power and authority to reform and redress the same, and to limitand settle the price of every such printed book and books, from time to time, according to thebest of their judgments, and as to them shall seem just and reasonable; and in case ofalteration of the rate or price from what was set or demanded by such bookseller orbooksellers, printer or printers, to award and order such bookseller and booksellers, printer andprinters, to pay all the costs and charges that the person or persons so complaining shall beput unto, by reason of such complaint, and of the causing such rate or price to be so limitedand settled; all which shall be done by the said archbishop of Canterbury, lord chancellor orlord keeper, bishop of London, two chief justices, chief baron, vice chancellors of the twouniversities, in that part of Great Britain called England, and the said lord president of thesessions, lord justice general, lord chief baron, and rector of the college of Edinburgh, in thatpart of Great Britain called Scotland, or any one of them, by writing under their hands andseals, and thereof publick notice shall be forthwith given by the said bookseller or booksellers,printer or printers, by an advertisement in the Gazette; and if any bookseller or booksellers,printer or printers, shall, after such settlement made of the said rate and price, sell, or exposeto sale, any book or books, at a higher or greater price, than what shall have been so limitedand settled, as aforesaid, then, and in every such case such bookseller and booksellers, printerand printers, shall forfeit the sum of five pounds for every such book so by him, her, or themsold or exposed to sale; one moiety thereof to the Queen's most excellent majesty, her heirsand successors, and the other moiety to any person or persons that shall sue for the same, tobe recovered, with costs of suit, in any of her Majesty's courts of record at Westminster, byaction of debt, bill, plaint or information, in which no wager of law, essoin, privilege, orprotection, or more than one imparlance shall be allowed.

V. Provided always, and it is hereby enacted, That nine copies of each book or books,upon the best paper, that from and after the said tenth day of April, one thousand sevenhundred and ten, shall be printed and published, as aforesaid, or reprinted and published withadditions, shall, by the printer and printers thereof, be delivered to the warehouse keeper of thesaid company of stationers for the time being, at the hall of the said company, before suchpublication made, for the use of the royal library, the libraries of the universities of Oxford andCambridge, the libraries of the four universities in Scotland, the library of Sion College inLondon, and the library commonly called the library belonging to the faculty of advocates atEdinburgh respectively; which said warehouse keeper is hereby required within ten days afterdemand by the keepers of the respective libraries, or any person or persons by them or any ofthem authorized to demand the said copy, to deliver the same, for the use of the aforesaidlibraries; and if any proprietor, bookseller, or printer, or the said warehouse keeper of the saidcompany of stationers, shall not observe the direction of this act therein, that then he and they

so making default in not delivering the said printed copies, as aforesaid, shall forfeit, besidesthe value of the said printed copies, the sum of five pounds for every copy not so delivered, asalso the value of the said printed copy not so delivered, the same to be recovered by theQueen's majesty, her heirs and successors, and by the chancellor, masters, and scholars ofany of the said universities, and by the president and fellows of Sion College, and the saidfaculty of advocates at Edinburgh, with their full costs respectively.

VI. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That if any person or persons incur thepenalties contained in this act, in that part of Great Britain called Scotland, they shall berecoverable by any action before the court of session there.

VII. Provided, That nothing in this act contained, do extend, or shall be construed toextend to prohibit the importation, vending, or selling of any books in Greek, Latin, or any otherforeign language printed beyond the seas; any thing in this act contained to the contrarynotwithstanding.

VIII. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That if any action or suit shall be

commenced or brought against any person or persons whatsoever, for doing or causing to bedone any thing in pursuance of this act, the defendants in such action may plead the generalissue, and give the special matter in evidence; and if upon such action a verdict be given forthe defendant, or the plaintiff become nonsuited, or discontinue his action, then the defendantshall have and recover his full costs, for which he shall have the same remedy as a defendantin any case by law hath.

IX. Provided, That nothing in this act contained shall extend, or be construed to extend,either to prejudice or confirm any right that the said universities, or any of them, or any personor persons have, or claim to have, to the printing or reprinting any book or copy already printed,or hereafter to be printed.

X. Provided nevertheless, That all actions, suits, bills, indictments or informations for anyoffence that shall be committed against this act, shall be brought, sued, and commenced withinthree months next after such offence committed, or else the same shall be void and of noneeffect.

XI. Provided always, That after the expiration of the said term of fourteen years, the soleright of printing or disposing of copies shall return to the authors thereof, if they are then living,for another term of fourteen years.
