Second Sunday of Advent

December 9, 2018

Dear Parishioners and Friends:

John the Baptist proclaimed a baptism of re-pentance for the forgiveness of sins … “Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths!” [Luke 3: 4]

Have you noticed? Like the people in the times of John the Baptist, we live in troubled times: politically polarized, emotionally dark, and financially stuck. He was borrowing words from the prophet Isaiah, aimed at the Israelites who were in exile in Babylon. Their land was occupied by a foreign army. They lived in expecta-tion of God coming into their lives and changing things, transforming their lives through a new start, hoping for a new life that was about to begin.

In Advent, John points beyond himself to Christ, in-viting us to prepare for the coming of God in our lives. We need to get back on track, to come home to our true selves for Christmas. Let’s get ready on the inside by making time for a good confession and allow God to lead us into a new chapter of our journey of faith in this new year of grace. Mary – like John – looms large this week as one who points to the way of her Son. She too points to Jesus and asks if we are ready to trust him to lead us into a new place of grace. Whether that mean coming to the sacrament of Reconciliation and/or shar-ing in the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe, allow yourself to be led by your heart this week, deeper into faith.

Questions for the week: To prepare a way for Jesus to be born in us anew, what pot-holes and pits in your heart need to be filled in? What mountains of anxiety and helplessness need to be removed? In what ways must you renew yourself?

Your Pastor, Fr. Bob

Segundo Domingo de Adviento

9 de Diciembre, 2018

Queridos Feligreses y Amigos:

Our Adopted Babies Spiritual Adoption Program

Month 4

Well, your little baby now weighs six ounces. He has finger-nails and eyelashes. He has his own unique fingerprints, which will remain the same until he dies. His taste buds are working. His sense of hearing is developing and present at 14 weeks. There are no major developments anymore. Your spiritually adopted baby is already well-formed internally and externally. All he needs now is time to gain weight and grow strong. What a miracle he is! Keep praying for our babies.

CCW will be delivering the bags to Waycross Health and Re-habilitation on Thursday, December 13, 2018. Any CCW member wishing to visit the 63 residents, please meet at the Church at 12:30PM wearing striped scarf. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at
