G.R. Tabacaleras Unidas was founded by southamericans entrepreneur Guillermo Rico. Rico is a third generation master Blender, a manufacturer of cigars and tobacco from Colombia, immigrated to the U.S. with his family in 1988. After several years of hard work he managed to impose himself on the tobacco industry, selling its own tobacco to the cigar manufacturers during theCigar Boom in the USA in the 90's. His business was so successful that he has the opportunity to open his own company for cigar manufacturing in Danli, Honduras, in 1995.

Rico realizes that the only way to create a perfect cigar is using the best raw material in the tobacco world. So in 1997 he began to grow tobacco in Dzhalapa, Nicaragua, where handles 400-acre of land per year, divided into five farms. Each farm is named after a different region of Colombia: Finca, Guacamaya, Acacias, Santa Marta and Guajira. In these farms Ricogrows from Cuban seeds cigars Habano and Corojo, using the traditional methods of Cuban cigar manufacturers. After many years of hard labor in Nicaragua, Rico is expanding its tobacco business in Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico and Colombia. In the Honduran factory where the "quality" is the motto of the company, each cigar is hand-wrapped, weighed very precisely and individually checked by testing with the air stream. Then cigars mature for eight months to ten years. All this attention to detail ensures quality in all steps of the manufacturing process.



In 2003, Rico continues its successful path of cigar manufacturer by opening a new selection of cigars. It was presented with the idea of offering the customer an exclusive cigar at exceptional price. The selection contains three varieties of tobacco wrapped in a unique and different tobacco leaf. Following a successful brand in the United States, spreading the product with its own distribution network in more than 2 500 stores across the country, Guillermo Rico looks at Europe. So in 2005, without any hesitation he trusted Krassimir Kurtev - proven Bulgarian businessman in many fields and both are co-owners of GR Tabacaleras Unidas. This is definitely a successful Rico move, because Kurtev was able to quickly fit into the company and to contribute to the rapidly growing market in Europe. Under trademark Don Corleone. In 2006, the new selection GR Tabacaleras Unidas 3 Siglos was presented with a unique triple filler tobacco from three different countries, which quickly achieved success and received high evaluation from the community of connoisseurs of cigars. In December 2007, a selection of GR Tabacaleras Unidas takes place in the Top 20 best cigars of the year. To the show RTDA, in 2008, the new line Cabinet Selection was presented, which is intended for cigar connoisseurs who appreciate quality and lasting pleasure of smoking a cigar.
