La celebración de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, el 12 de diciembre, brinda la gran oportunidad para implementar una liturgia bilingüe. La Emperatriz de las Américas, nuestra Madre de Guadalupe ocupa el lugar que merece en todo el continente americano. Por eso, los nacidos cerca de la tierra del Tepeyac debemos descartar la noción de que Nuestra Señora es sólo nuestra. Compañeros, los exhorto a ser muy hospitalarios; ofrezcamos una bienvenida más calurosa a quienes deseen incorporar esta maravillosa devoción a su vida de fe.

Recomiendo ofrecer al menos una misa bilingüe en esta gran fiesta; inviten a toda la parroquia y a otras comunidades. Es común que haya una Misa en la mañana después de Las Mañanitas y otra Misa en la noche, con rosarios comunitarios, otras devociones y actividades durante el día. Si su parroquia sólo ofrece una Misa, les sugiero que hagan algo diferente este año. Arriésguense. Ofrezcan esa hospitalidad radical que nuestro amado Papa Francisco demuestra constantemente. Sean los portadores de la buena nueva del mensaje de Nuestra Señora con su testimonio de vida.

Hay cantos maravillosos que les pueden ayudar a unificar las voces de sus asambleas tan diversas:

Recuerden también que el estribillo de “Las Apariciones Guadalupanas” (FC3 424) es muy fácil de seguir y cantar por todos.

Hermanos y hermanas, reflejemos la humildad y sencillez de San Juan Diego, para que todos seamos parte del gran milagro de las rosas.

There is no better time to implement a well-planned bilingual liturgy than the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12 . As the Empress of the Americas, our Madre de Guadalupe takes her rightful place all across the Americas . This calls for those of us born near the land of the Tepeyac to break away from the notion that Our Lady is only ours . Friends, I encourage you to be very hospitable; let us give a warmer welcome to those who wish to incorporate this wonderful devotion into their faith life .

I suggest offering at least one bilingual Mass on this great feast; invite the whole parish and other communities . Frequently, there is a morning Mass after Las Mañanitas (morning serenade) and another Mass in the evening, with communal rosaries, other devotions, and special activities throughout the day . If your parish offers only one Mass, try doing something different this year . Take a chance . Offer that radical hospitality our beloved Pope Francis shows constantly . Be the bearers of the good news of Our Lady of Guadalupe’s message with your very lives .

Brothers and sisters, let us become humble and unassuming like Saint Juan Diego, so that we may all be part of the great miracle of the roses .
