Itzam Pacheco. Nació en la Ciudad de México el 14 de Abril de 1984. Comienza sus estudios musicales académicos a la edad de 15 años en el Instituto Pacelli en la ciudad de Pue-bla bajo la batuta del Pbro. Bruno Fernández Abreu. Continúa su formación en la Escuela Nacional de Música (ENM) de la UNAM durante el periodo 2000-2004 bajo la tutela de grandes músicos como Julio Cesar Díaz, “Remi” Álvarez, Roberto Benitez, Joe d’Etienne entre otros; lo cual le ha valido para ser reconocido como destacado solista y solicitado por la Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de Puebla (OSEP) con saxofón soprano, Orquesta Sin-fónica Marista (OSM) con saxofón alto.

Itzam Pacheco was born in Mexico City on April 14th, 1984. He began his musical studies (when he was only 15 years old) at Pacelli Institute in Puebla, Mexico, under the direction of Fr. Bruno Fernandez Abreu. He continued his musical education at the National School of Music (ENM, UNAM) during 2000-2004 under the direction of renowned musicians such as Julio Cesar Diaz, “Remi” Alvarez, Roberto Benitez and Joe d’Etienne, among others; Itzam Pacheco has been recognized as an outstanding soloist and has participated with the Puebla State Symphony Or-chestra (OSEP) with the soprano saxophone and with the Marist Symphony Orchestra (OSM) with the alto saxophone.

En el período 2006 – 2008 trabajó como profesor eventual de saxofón en la universidad de ciencias y artes de Chia-pas (UNICACH) y en 2008 fue ganador de la audición para saxofón principal en la Orquesta Sinfónica de Alientos de la “Policía Federal Preventiva”; En septiembre de 2011 fue arreglista invitado de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Cuenca Ecua-dor para el programa “Noche de Boleros y Algo Más” donde participó con 3 arreglos y ese mismo año fue arreglista y director musical de la obra de teatro “La Ópera de a Barrio” de Erando Gonzales.

During 2006 – 2008, he worked as Saxophone Professor at Chiapas University of Science and Arts (UNICACH), Mexico, and in 2008 he won the audition for principal saxophone of the Woodwind Symphony Orchestra of the “Preventive Federal Police”. In September 2011, he was invited as music arranger of the Cuenca Ecuador Symphony Orchestra for the TV program “Night of Boleros and Something More” where he participated with 3 arrangements and that same year he was arranger and musical director of the play “The Opera Barrio” of Erando Gonzales.

De Diciembre de 2011 a Mayo de 2013 trabajó como Pro-fesor de Saxofón y Clarinete de la “Orquesta Sinfónica Infantil y Juvenil de Tlalpan, DF” y desde Enero de 2013 a la fecha como profesor de Saxofón y clarinete de la “Or-questa Sinfónica Infantil y Juvenil de Ixtapaluca, Edo de México”.

Desde 2004 toca Saxofón Barítono en la Big Band de Joe d’Etienne con quien ha grabado 2 discos, el primero “What’s the Rush” en 2011 y el segundo “En Vivo” desde el festival de Jazz de La Riviera Maya 2012 (próximo a salir).

From December 2011 to May 2013, he worked as the Sa-xophone and Clarinet Professor of the “Tlalpan Children’s and Youth Orchestra”, Mexico; and since January 2013 he has been the Saxophone and Clarinet Professor of the “Ixtapaluca Children’s and Youth Orchestra”, Mexico State.

Since 2004 he plays the Baritone Saxophone in the Big Band with Joe d’Etienne and they have recorded 2 albums, the first one titled: “What’s the Rush” (2011) and the se-cond one: “Live” from The Riviera Maya Jazz Festival 2012 (to be released).

Su talento y desarrollo musical lo han colocado a lado de grandes fi-guras de la música popular como: “Juan Gabriel” con quien colabora en saxofón barítono, saxofón tenor y flauta desde 2010; “Lila Downs” con quien toca saxofón tenor, saxo-fón barítono y clarinete, y grabó el DVD “Pecados y Milagros”, produc-ción de Sony Music ganadora de un Grammy; “Guadalupe Pineda” con quien grabó en 2012 el DVD “Gua-dalupe Pineda en Bellas Artes” con flauta y saxofón alto, distribuido por Sony Music; “Margarita La Dio-sa de La Cumbia” con quien grabó el DVD “30 Años de Cumbia desde el Auditorio Nacional” con saxofón barítono, producción que fue gana-dora de “Doble Disco de Platino”; “Panteón Rococó” graba en 2010 el disco “Ejercito de Paz”; “Kalimba” con quien grabó un videoclip que fue distribuído en varios países de América Latina producido por Sony Music; Arturo Castro, Albita, Mijares, Armando Manzanero, La india, Diego Verdaguer, Amanda Miguel, Iraida Noriega, Elizabeth Meza, Ed Lorenz, Paco de María, entre otros; En 2012 fue convocado para acompañar en México los conciertos de Chris Hun-ter y Andy Martin

Itzam Pacheco’s talent and success-ful musical career have allowed him to actively collaborate with very famous and popular Mexican sin-gers such as “Juan Gabriel” with the baritone saxophone, tenor sa-xophone and flute since 2010; with “Lila Downs” he has played tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone and clarinet, and he participated in the recording of the DVD: “Pecados y Mi-lagros”, which was a Grammy win-ner (Sony Music production). He also has collaborated with “ Guadalupe Pineda” with whom he recorded the DVD: “ Guadalupe Pineda en Bellas Artes” (2012) playing the flute and alto saxophone (production distribu-ted by Sony Music); with “ Margarita La Diosa de La Cumbia”, Itzam re-corded the DVD: “ 30 Años de Cum-bia desde el Auditorio Nacional “ playing the baritone sax and win-ning the “Double Platinum” award; with “Panteón Rococó” he recorded the “Ejercito de Paz” album (2010). With “ Kalimba “ he recorded a video clip that was distributed in several countries in Latin America (produced by Sony Music); Additionally, Itzam Pacheco has collaborated playing se-veral instruments with famous sin-gers like Arturo Castro , Albita , Mi-jares , Armando Manzanero, La India , Diego Verdaguer , Amanda Miguel , Iraida Noriega , Elizabeth Meza, Ed Lorenz and Paco de María , among others. In 2012, he was invited to co-llaborate playing with Chris Hunter and Andy Martin in all their concerts around Mexico.

Actualmente Itzam Pacheco dirige su propio proyecto: “Jazzssic” con el que ha sido invitado a participar en Festivales, Universida-

des y el Palacio de Bellas Artes de la ciudad de México.
