You’re on your way to K!The transition to Kindergarten is a

respected as a major milestone not only for the child, but for his or her family as well. The attitude towards school and

learning that the child carries with them for life is often determined by this very first experience with school. A smooth

transition to kindergarten can help make sure your child is successful in

school.

Lunch Money

✪You can put money on your child’s lunch account using the internet on the Sherman ISD Webpage (www.shermanisd.net) or you can send money to school in your child’s folder.

If you send the money:✪ Please send money in an envelope with your child’s name on the outside of the envelope.

✪ Write your child teacher’s name on the outside of the envelope.

✪Place the envelope inside your child’s “Take Home Folder”

✪Please do not give your child money to put in his pocket or in their backpack. We do not check backpacks.

Usted puede poner dinero en la cuenta de su niño (a) utilisando la internet y entrando al portal del Sistema Educativo de Sherman (www.shermanisd.net), ó también usted puede enviar dinero dentro de la carpeta de su niño (a).

Si Usted Envia Dinero:

If you would like to volunteer at school or go on our field trip you must be on the “Approved List” of volunteers.

1. Go to the Sherman ISD website at www.shermanisd.net2. Click on Parents.3. Click on “Volunteer Opportunities” at the bottom of the

page.4. Answer all questions and submit the application.

It may take up to two weeks to finalize your application so please make sure you complete the process in plenty of time to be approved before you volunteer.

Si a usted le gustaría participar como voluntario en la Escuela de su nhijo, ó si usted quisiera ir a paseos fuera de la escuela, usted tiene que registrarse y estar en la lista de los “Voluntarios Autorizados”.

BackpacksPlease have your child bring a backpack to school everyday, and check the

take home folder inside the backpack daily. This is where you will find all kindergarten communication

• Make sure the backpack is large enough to fit your child’s folder• Make sure your child’s backpack does not have wheels on it. We have

small lockers in our classroom and backpacks with wheels do not fit when they also have to put their lunchbox and jackets in their lockers.

GradesSherman ISD has four nine week periods. Progress reports will go home

with your child between report cards. We use a Standards Based Report Card that can be viewed online through

the Sherman ISD website. There is a rubric for each subject for each nine week grading period.

Mochilas• Por favor haga que su niño (a) traiga su mochila a la escuela todos los días.

También, revise todos los días que la carpeta de su hijo/a está dentro de la mochila. En esta carpeta es donde usted encontrará toda la comunicaciónque le enviamos de la clase.

son pequeños y las mochilas con ruedas no caben, considerando queen el armario tambien se guardan chaquetas y loncheras.

• El Sistema Educativo de Sherman ISD contiene cuatro periodos de nueve semanascada uno. Los Reportes de Progreso se irá a casa con su hijo entre los Reportesde Calificaciones.

Calificativo de Notas

Usamos Boletas de Calificaciones Basadas en Estándares. En la pagina de Sherman ISD, usted encontrara rubricas para cada materia. Estas rubricasson habilidades o destrezas que los estudiantes deben dominar en cadamateria.

BathroomPlease familiarize your child with the automatic flushing sensor so they will not be scared in the bathroom.We do realize that sometimes accidents happen and we ask that you send a change of clothes in a plastic bag to leave at school. Please include a pair of underwear, a pair of pants and a shirt. If your child has to BORROW any clothing items from the nurse please be sure to wash them and return them to school so the school nurse can have them for other children to use.

Entendemos que en algunos casos ocurrirán accidentes, por esta razón les pedimos nos envien una muda de ropaen una bolsa plastica para que ésta se queda en la escuela. Por favor incluya ropa interior, pantalones y camisa.Si su niño (a) tiene que PRESTARSE ropa de la

enfermeria, por favor devuelva la ropa lavada, para que asi otro niño (a) pueda usarla.

Dress Code

Elementary schools follow the Sherman ISD dress code. This includes hairstyles and clothing. Please go the Sherman ISD website to review the specific guidelines and pictures of do’s and don’ts. Once you are on the website, click on the tab at the top labeled “Students” and the Dress Code will be an option to click on.Kindergarten has recess and PE at least three times a week. We ask that you dress your child in the appropriate shoes for active behavior on the playground and in gym class. Flip Flops ARE NOT approved footwear for the district. If your girl wears a dress or a skirt we ask that you have your child wear shorts under their dress or skirt. We sit on the floor a lot in the classroom and want your daughter to be comfortable.

Codigo de Vestir

Las escuelas primarias siguen el código de vestir de Sherman ISD. Esto incluye peinados y ropa. Attendance

It is essential that your child attend school everyday. School attendance is a huge predictor of future academic progress. Excessive absences are subject to Sherman ISD Truancy Prevention Measures. These measures may include truancy court and fines if necessary. Please refer to the Sherman ISD website for more information about truancy prevention measures.

Asistencia Escolar

Es esencial que su hijo asista a la escuela todos los días. La asistencia escolar es fundamental para progreso académico futuro de su hijo.
