Socio cultural perspective Vs. Connectivism
Javier Alexander Rivera & Marco Antonio Peralta2013
Learning conceptions (Vygotsky)
Learning is a structured process of knowledge through mental phasesOnce structures are developed, other more advanced ones emergeLanguage is the most demanding process for its intellectual developmentOral language permits to express: logics, understanding and desires.
Sociocultural Connectivism
Learning happens as we live life in our current knowledge economy.
The learning system is dynamic, learner-centered instruction.
Learning is is not about controlling. It is about fostering…and guiding.
Learning is not a clear, structured, unidirectional process.
Learning conceptions (Vygotsky)
A more demanding environment requiers more demanding structures and processesThrough the mediatic interaction, thinking structures are compared, categorized and reorganized. Internal knowledge process involves the interpersonal and the intrapersonal phases
Sociocultural Connectivism
The capacity to stay current is more important than any individual content element
In a connectivist approach to learning, we create networks of knowledge to assist in replacing outdated content with current content.
The more completely we exist in multiple domains of knowledge, the more effective the knowledge exchange.
Learning conceptions (Vygotsky)
The interpersonal phase is carried out in a face to face interaction (TIC contact is also an example of this)The intrapersonal phase is carried out when this information is mentally processed and classified. Individuals learn after a social interaction process
Sociocultural Connectivism
Learning conceptions (Siemens)
Conversation is the ultimate personalization experience.
As we add social dimensions to our cognition, we can create an adaptive model that learns based on the activities of all members i n a space.
Connections change content. Content is imbued with newmeaning when situated in a network.
The learner is the teacher, the teacher is the learner.
Learning conceptions (Vygotsky)
TIC help knowledge interiorization through text and images. In the ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development) fosters interaction and connects the independent resolution of a problem and the one with another person´s help.
Sociocultural Connectivism
Learning conceptions (Siemens)
• Connections provide the greatest value when they generate a certain type of content for the learner.
• The contextually appropriate format makes the content more useful.
• Knowledge has to be accessible at the point of need.
• We want content that is current, relevant, and contextually appropriate. Connections are the devices that enable this to occur.
