La Biblioteca Nacional se llenade códices de la Capilla
Sixtina
La Biblioteca Nacional reúne por primera vez en una
exposiciónvarios códices de la Capilla Sixtina procedentes de
coleccionesespañolas. La muestra, que incluye cerca de 40
manuscritos miniados, hasido inaugurada esta martes por la infanta
doña Elena y podrá visitarsehasta el 9 de enero de 2011.
La exposición 'Códices de la Capilla Sixtina' incluye un
conjunto decódices ilustrados, fechados entre los siglos XV y
XVIII, que fue adquiridopor el cardenal Francisco Lorenzana en 1978
y enviado a Toledo parasalvarlo de la ocupación francesa.
Estos códices miniados, realizados para el uso de los Papas y
para losservicios litúrgicos, se han conservado en la Catedral
Primada deToledo, en la colección Borbón-Lorenzana de la Biblioteca
de Castilla-LaMancha y en la Biblioteca Nacional de España.
Se trata de uno de los núcleos de manuscritos litúrgicos
másimportantes y valiosos del patrimonio bibliográfico pontificio,
quepermitirá estudiar la evolución de la miniatura romana entre los
siglos XV yXVII. Algunos de ellos se han restaurado para la ocasión
en el laboratoriode la BNE.
Las comisarias de la muestra, Elena De Laurentiis y Emilia Anna
Talamo,han explicado en la presentación que el recorrido de la
muestra escronológico. Entre ellos, una gran parte de las piezas
permanecencompletas y "perfectamente" conservadas.
En la exposición, además de códices completos, aparecen unas
hojasque proceden de otros códices y se han pegado en otros libros.
Además,según indican, las familias que poseían algunos de estos
códicesrecortaban las miniaturas y las vendían para ganar
dinero.

Las comisarias han destacado el valor artístico de estas piezas,
encuyas encuadernaciones se aprecian detalles en plata, así como
losescudos de los propietarios. Según explican, muchos de ellos
sondesconocidos para los historiadores.
Todos estos códices se identificaron en un inventario de la
sacristíade la Capilla Sixtina, donde fueron marcados por Papas y
cardenales.Por ello, en la labor de identificación los
restauradores han tenido encuenta estas firmas para averiguar la
fecha exacta.
"Dispersos" en colecciones públicas y privadas
Las comisarias han explicado que estos manuscritos eran
utilizados paralos servicios litúrgicos y, a diferencia de los de
los cantores, estaban másminiados. Además, se encuentran dispersos
por todo el mundo, hansido desmembrados y despojados de sus
miniaturas, mientras que lamayoría de los manuscritos de los
cantores se encuentran en la BibliotecaApostólica Vaticana.
Las comisarias han reunido en un catálogo todos los códices de
laCapilla Sixtina, aunque se trata de una labor "difícil", porque
muchaspiezas se encuentran aún desperdigadas en colecciones
públicas yprivadas.
En este sentido, explican que para la elaboración de este
catálogo unproblema añadido para la atribución de las miniaturas
fue la venta devarios recortes que realizó el abad Celotti en 1825,
en la casa Christie'sde Londres.
"En esa venta había más de 80 partes de miniaturas procedentes
de laCapilla Sixtina, así que en este volumen se ha intentado
reconstruir elrecorrido desde Celotti hasta hoy", ha indicado
Emilia Anna Talamo.
