¿Estás listo para una peregrinación? Yo estoy listo. Espero que tu lo estés. La

Cuaresma, en esencia, es una peregrinación, un viaje religioso que es físico,

espiritual y emocional. Si bien no iremos a un lugar físico como San Salvador o la

Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, estaremos acompañando a Jesús a la

Cruz. Nos encontraremos con las diversas figuras a lo largo de los Pactos del

Antiguo Testamento. Sacrificaremos y ayunaremos con ellos a medida que pasen los

días. Habrá algunos días en los que podremos sentir que no podemos dar otro paso.

Es en esos días que pediremos la ayuda de nuestro Dios.

A lo largo de los próximos 40 días, en Roma, la ciudad eterna, el Papa Francisco,

junto con muchos sacerdotes, seminaristas y laicos, viajarán diariamente a diferentes

iglesias estacionales en pequeñas peregrinaciones de iglesias. En cada una de estas

iglesias, celebran una parte del misterio de la vida, la enseñanza, el sufrimiento, la

pasión y la muerte de Jesús para prepararnos para el misterio de Pascua, pero

también un encuentro más profundo con el Señor. A nuestra manera, mientras

leemos las lecturas diarias o rezamos devocionales, también viajamos con ellos. Al

entrar en esta peregrinación, pregúntale a Jesús qué quiere que recibas durante esta

temporada. ¿Cuál será su gracia esta Cuaresma de 2020?

Reunión de padres: el próximo miércoles, tenemos

nuestra reunión de padres a las 6:30 pm en el gimnasio

como de costumbre. Por favor traiga sus libros para

padres para planificar mejor sus lecciones. Los niños

estarán en sus aulas al mismo tiempo.

Clases de Preparación Matrimonial: Durante el mes de

marzo, tenemos otra serie de charlas para nuestras parejas que se preparan para el

matrimonio. Las reuniones son todos los jueves a las 7:00 pm en el sótano de la

Iglesia. No es necesario registrarse y ni siquiera necesita asegurarse de que quiere

casarse. Ven si aún no has recibido el sacramento para conocer este maravilloso

regalo de amor conyugal.

Lectores, acomodadores, ministros eucarísticos: Habrá una capacitación y

revisión el sábado 14 de marzo en la Iglesia a las 10:00 am. Esta capacitación

abarcará tanto las responsabilidades de aquellos que están ministrando, nuestros

horarios de ministros y nuestra responsabilidad personal como líderes en la Iglesia.

Evaluaciones gratuitas de enfermedades renales el 22 de marzo: El Programa de

detección y conciencia de enfermedades renales de Augustana organizará una

evaluación gratuita de la salud renal en Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe el domingo 22

de marzo de 10:00 a 14:00. El examen incluye varias pruebas para evaluar la salud

de los riñones, que incluyen: cuestionario médico, análisis de orina, presión arterial,

glucosa en la sangre, medición del índice de masa corporal / medición de la relación

cintura-cadera y consulta médica. Los médicos estarán en el lugar para revisar los

resultados de los participantes y proporcionar cualquier comentario o referencia a

clínicas gratuitas, si es necesario.

Estaciones de la Cruz - Durante la temporada de Cuaresma, cada viernes por la

guien para ocupar un puesto de servicios de apoyo de medio tiempo, que brinde res-

paldo y apoyo tanto a la recepción como a la Hermana Janet en Inmigración. Apro-

ximadamente 20 horas por semana, el horario es de 1:00 p.m. a 5:00 p.m. de lunes a

jueves y de 12:00 a 4:00 los viernes.

Are you ready for a pilgrimage? I am ready. I hope you are. Lent, in its essence, is a

pilgrimage, a religious journey that is physical, spiritual, and emotional. While we

will not be going to a physical place like San Salvador or the Basilica of Our Lady

of Guadalupe, we will be accompanying Jesus to the Cross. We will meet the vari-

ous figures throughout the Old Testament Covenants. We will sacrifice and fast with

them as the days pass. There will be some days in which we may feel like we cannot

take another step. It is in those days that we will ask for the help of our God.

Throughout the course of the next 40 days, in Rome, the eternal city, Pope Francis

along with many priests, seminarians, and lay people will journey daily to different

stational churches on little church pilgrimages. At each of these churches, they cele-

brate a part of the mystery of the life, teaching, suffering, passion, and death of Jesus

to prepare us for the Easter mystery but also a deeper encounter with the Lord. In

our own ways, as we read the daily readings or pray devotionals, we also journey

with them. As you enter into this pilgrimage, ask Jesus what he wants you to receive

during this season. What will be your grace this Lent of 2020?

Parent Meeting: This coming Wednesday, we have our

parent meeting at 6:30 pm in the gymnasium as usual.

Please bring your parent books to better plan your les-

sons. The kids will be in their classrooms at the same

time.

Marriage Preparation Classes: During the month of

March, we have another series of talks for our couples preparing for marriage. The

meetings are on each Thursday night at 7:00 pm in the Church basement. There is

no need to register and you don’t even need to be sure you want to get married.

Please come if you haven’t yet received the sacrament to learn about this wonderful

gift of marital love.

Lectors, Ushers, Eucharistic Ministers: There will be a training and review on

Saturday March 14th in the Church at 10:00 am. This training will go over both re-

sponsibilities of those who are ministering, our minister schedules, and our personal

responsibility as leaders in the Church.

Free Kidney Disease Screening March 22: The Augustana Kidney Disease

Screening and Awareness Program will be hosting a free kidney health screening at

Our Lady of Guadalupe on Sunday, March 22 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The

screening includes several tests to assess kidney health including: medical question-

naire, urinalysis, blood pressure, blood glucose, body mass index/waist to hip ratio

measurement, and physician consult. Physicians will be onsite to review partici-

pants' results and provide any feedback or referrals to free clinics, if necessary.

Stations of the Cross – During the Lenten Season, each Friday night we will have

the Via Crucis at 7:00 pm. This year, before we start the prayer, there will be a short

lesson based on the new beautiful stations in our Church followed by the prayers.

Once the prayers are finished, confessions will be offered.

Women’s Retreat with guest speaker Gina Bauer to be held on Saturday, March

7th from 8:30am to 3:00pm at St Lambert Parish. Gina captivates and engages her

audience with lively stories and humor. She is able to convey Catholic teachings in

a compassionate, down-to-earth style that reaches the hearts of listeners. Cost is $30

which includes snack and lunch. Registration forms are available on our web-

St. George will be putting on a parish mission led by Fr. James Brent, OP on

March 8,9,10 at 7:00 pm. Each night will include a talk, adoration, and chance for

confession, as well as a special blessing for families on the 10th. On March 11, we

will also have a youth mission night from 6:30-8:00 with Fr. Brent. All teenagers in

middle and high school are welcome to attend.
