PRÓLOGO

Corrían los años 70 cuando los primeros y complicados ordenadores parecían solo cosa de científicos, investigadores y privilegiados usuarios. Fue a partir de los años 80, cuando gracias al invento del “ratón” se pudo acercar el ordenador personal al mundo empresarial y a la vida familiar. Este periférico revolucionó el mundo de las nuevas tecnologías cuando en 1973 Apple Computers y Xerox presentaron por primera vez ordenadores con ratón y GUI (Interfaz Gráfica de Usuario). La combinación del GUI y el ratón facilitó tanto el uso del ordenador, que a partir de ese momento el público en general tuvo acceso a un ordenador personal.

Sin embargo la acumulación de partículas en la bola-rodadora del ratón causaban que el puntero fuera inexacto e impreciso. En 1979 la empresa Xerox publicó y lanzó una novedad que abrió las puertas del mercado. “Mousepad” un invento que a partir de ese momento otorgó al ratón la precisión y velocidad de respuesta que no tenía y evitó las usuales ralladuras que dejaba sobre mesas y escritorios de trabajo.

La alfombrilla de ratón o mousepad comenzó a fabricarse como accesorio informático indispensable al igual que el ratón. En los años 80, cuando el ordenador personal llegó a las tiendas de informática, era inevitable comprar un ratón, era imprescindible. La alfombrilla no era en aquella época indispensable, pero si no queríamos convertir nuestro ratón en un recolector de desechos, el uso del “mousepad” era necesario y se fue extendiendo. En la actualidad, cuando se cumplen 40 años del nacimiento del “ratón” y 30 de la creación del primer “mousepad”, nosotros, como empresa especializada en “mousepads” , podemos afirmar que “desarrollar un producto perfecto es difícil, pero no imposible.”

In the 1970’s the first complicated computers seemed to be an exclusivity only in the hands of scientists, investigators and privileged end users. It has been the start of the 1980’s, thanks to the invention of the mouse, that the computer for businesses and personal home computer could be introduced. This device meant a revolution to the world of new technologies when in 1973 Apple Computers and Xerox presented for the first time computers with a GUI (Graphic User Interface) in combination with a mouse. The combination of mouse and GUI contributed so mucho to the use of the computer that from that moment the public got access to the personal computer.

Nonetheless, the accumulations of dust and dirt in the ball bearing mouse caused the mouse pointer to become imprecise and inaccurate. In 1979 the company Xerox announced and launched a novelty which opened the doors of the market. A mousepad, an invention that gave the mouse the reaction speed it hadn’t before and avoided the common slips on top of desks and working places.

The mouse mat was taken into production as unfishable IT accessory just like the mouse. In the 1980’s, when the personal computer arrived in the computer stores, it was inevitable to buy a mouse, it was essential. The mouse mat wasn’t essential in that era, but if we didn’t want to convert our mouse into a dirt collector the use of a mouse mat was necessary and it became more and more popular. Nowadays we have the 40th anniversary of the mouse and the 30th anniversary of the mouse mat, we as a company specialized in mouse mats can only confirm that developing the perfect product is difficult, but not impossible.
