Louisville will face it’s eighth ranked op- ponent in the nine games with an ACC matchup at No. 8 Boston College Friday at 6 p.m. and will wrap up the weekend at New Hampshire Sunday at 12 p.m. • Louisville enters the weekend with an 8-4 overall record and a 2-1 mark in ACC play and currently in a three- way e for second in league standings. The Cardinals are ranked No. 11 in the NFHCA Coaches’ Poll, marking UofL’s 48th straight appearance in the top 20 dang back to the 2013 season. • Last weekend, the Cards defeated pushed their win streak to four straight games starting with a dramatic 2-1 double overtime win against No. 7 Syracuse and finished with a 2-0 victory over Central Michigan. • Sophomore Minout Mink leads the team with six goals and 13 points. Fresh- man Marisa Martin Pelegrina is tied with Mink atop team standings with 13 points (4G, 5A). Senior co-captain Nicole Woods rounds out the top three scorers with 12 points (5G, 2A). • Ayeisha McFerran (4-3), holds a 1.65 goals against average in nine appear- ances aſter being sidelined due to injury for the first three games of the season. • Jusne Sowry is in her seventh sea- son at the helm for the Cardinals. The 2016 NFHCA West Region Coach of the Year has compiled an 88-45 record at Louisville and has an overall 146-76 re- cord while in her 11th season as a head coach. She was instrumental in Louisville’s 3-2 shootout victory over No. 11 Wake Forest.•Shepostedfivesavesthrough100:00ofplay–includingthreeinthesecondsudden-victoryovertimeperiod.McFerranalsothwartedthreeshootoutattemptbytheDemonDeaconsastheCardinalssealedthevictory with a 2-0 margin in the shootout. Behind their impressive strength of schedule, the 2014 Cardinals earned an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.• Senior Alyssa Voelmle went on to earn first team 2014 NFHCA All-America honors, become the eighth All-Amer-ican in school history and only the second first team selection.VoelmlejoinedteammatesElisaGarcia,PaigeMonsen, Sydney King and Mallory Mason on the NFHCA All-West Region team. In 2013 the Cardinals posted a 15-5 record - the most wins since 2001 - and earned a share of the BIG EASTRegularseasontitlewitha6-1recordinleagueplay.Additionally,Louisvilleregisteredaperfect10-0recordatTragerStadiumforthefirsttimeinprogramhistory.TheCardinalsfinishedtheseasonrankedNo.15andwereamainstay in the 2013 NFHCA top 20 rankings, appearing as high as No. 14 where they spent four weeks.

The 2012 Cardinals posted a 12-8 overall record and made their eighth straight appearance in the BIG EAST semifinals. Three players earned all-conferencehonors while Amber Thomas was selected to the NFHCA All-Region team. Inherfirstseasonatthehelm,Sowry’s2011teamfeatured six underclassmen in the starting lineup andposted 10 wins while earning the Cards’ seventh straight appearance in the BIG EAST semifinals. Five playersearned league honors and Hayley Turner was named BIGEASTCo-OffensivePlayerof theYear.Additionally,Turner and Collins were NFHCA All-West Region selec-tions.Turnerwentontobecometheseventhplayerinprogram history to earn All-American status. She joined the Cardinals on December 16, 2010whenVicePresidentforAthleticsTomJurichannouncedthatshewouldbecometheprogram’seighthheadfieldhockey coach. Sowry returned to where her collegiate coaching career started when she was an assistant under head coachPamBustinfrom1998through2002. Sowry came to U of L after four seasons as theheadcoachatUMass.Duringhertimethere,shecom-piled a 58-31 overall record, including a mark of 22-4 in Atlantic10play.Underherguidance,theMinutewomenearnedpowerhousestatusintheAtlantic10andonthenational level, claiming three A-10 championships andNCAA appearances (2007, 2008 and 2010). She was athree-timeA-10CoachoftheYearandwastwicenamedthe NFHCA Division I Northeast Region Coach of Year. During her four-year tenure there, she coached 19 A-10All-Conferenceselections,17All-Regionselections,andfiveAll-Americans.Sowryledtheteamtothreecon-ferencetitlesandthreeNCAAtournamentappearances.The Minutewomen posted 17 wins in the 2008 season and reached as high as No. 9 in the NFHCA rankings. Sowry’s teams also produced solid defensive efforts,beingconsistentlyrankedamongthenation’stop10inshutouts and goals-against average. PriortohertimeatUMass,SowryservedasaUSAHigh Performance Coach with the U.S. Field Hockey As-sociation(USFHA)from2003-07.Duringherstintthere,she was the director of all goalkeeping programs. Sowry coached Amy Tran, who was named the Goalkeeper of the Tournament at the 2006 World Cup in Madrid, Spain inadditiontobeingnamedtotheFIHWorldTeamoftheYear. While Sowry was an assistant coach with the U.S. National team in 2006, the team placed sixth in theworld at the games in Madrid. She also assisted with the 2005JuniorNationalTeamwhichplacedseventhintheJuniorWorldCupinSantiago,Chile. BeforejoiningtheUSFHA,SowryspentayearasanassistantcoachfortheStanfordUniversityfieldhockeyprogram(2003). Sowry began her coaching career at the University of Louisville, where she spent five years (1998-2002)as an assistant coach to PamBustin. She aided Bustininorchestratingoneof themost remarkableprogram-building efforts in thenation. In their first season, theCardinals snapped a 34-game losing streak and went on to produce winning records in each season from 2000-03 including the MAC conference championship in 2002. The Adelaide, Australia-native was amember oftheAustralianNationalHockeyTeam from1991-2001.She tallied 128 international appearances, and wasa member of the country’s 1996 and 2000 Olympic squads. She earned gold medals while playing on World Cup teams in 1994 and 1998. Sowry earned a Bachelor’s degree in physical edu-cation and mathematics from the University of SouthAustralia in 1991.
