1. Author names in parentheses mean that the species was originally described in a different genus. For example, Phalaena nitidalis Cramer was originally described in the genus Phalaena, but currently it is in the genus Diaphania. So the current name is Diaphania nitidalis (Cramer).
2. Dates in square brackets mean that the date of publication of the work where the taxon was described was obtained from indirect sources. For instance, “Guenée, [1858]” indicates that despite the date 1857 appearing on the front page of the publication, it was later discovered, by indirect information (letters to friends, stamps in library stating the date it was received, bills from printers, etc.), that it was really issued in 1858.
