INSTRUCCIONES PARA LLORARInstrucciones para llorar. Dejando de lado los motivos, atengámonos a la manera cor-recta de llorar, entendiendo por esto un llanto que no ingrese en el escándalo, ni que insulte a la sonrisa con su paralela y torpe semejanza. El llanto medio u ordinario con-siste en una contracción general del rostro y un sonido espasmódico acompañado de lágrimas y mocos, estos últimos al �nal, pues el llanto se acaba en el momento en que uno se suena enérgicamente. Para llorar, dirija la imaginación hacia usted mismo, y si esto le resulta imposible por haber contraído el hábito de creer en el mundo exterior, piense en un pato cubierto de hormigas o en esos golfos del estrecho de Magallanes en los que no entra nadie, nunca. Llegado el llanto, se tapará con decoro el rostro usando ambas manos con la palma hacia adentro. Los niños llorarán con la manga del saco contra la cara, y de preferencia en un rincón del cuarto. Duración media del llanto, tres minutos.

Instructions for crying. Leaving aside motives, let us focus on the correct way to cry, understanding by this -- crying -- that which does not include yelling, nor insults a smile with its parallel and awkward similarity. Normal and ordinary crying consists of a general contraction of the features and a spasmodic noise accompanied by tears and snot, these last at the end, since crying ends the moment in which one energetically blows one's nose. To cry, direct your imagination to yourself, and if this should be impossible -- through having been caught in the habit of believing in the exterior world -- think of a duck covered in ants or the narrow straits of Magellan into which nobody enters, ever. The crying having begun, you will decorously conceal your face using both hands with the palms facing in. Children will cry with their blazer sleeves against their faces, preferably in the corner of the room. Approximate duration of crying, three minutes.

ARTISTValentina Giraldo was born on May 31, 1990 in Bogotá, Colombia. She is currently a double mayor student of Plastic Arts and Design in Los Andes University. Giraldo’s interest in art began at the age of twelve, when she began to create and design colorful earrings and necklaces with sequins, beads, ribbons and wires. By the age of �fteen, she was already designing swimwear, dresses and t-shirts, some of Giraldo personally hand-painted. Her designs have par-ticipated several Fashion Shows in an International Baccalaureate School in Bogotá between 2008 and 2009. Valentina’s current scope of work employs acrylic, water colors, collages, pencil, nails and nail polish, which she originally combines to create new ap-proaches and interpretations of everyday situations, people, news, song lyrics and books. During the second semester of 2010, she was awarded second place (among 200 participants) in the Bogotá Red Bull drawing contest. Her newest interest is portraits in nail and nail polish, a technique she created for a plastic arts class, when she was exploring new and imaginative ways for por-traiture.
