I was blessed to be present (and help plan) my parents’ 25

th and 50

th wedding anniversaries,

both celebrated with Masses of vow renewal. They were profound experiences in my life, as they reminded me of the need to recall why we make commitments and promises. My parents didn’t lose their relationship; the renewal of vows simply reminded them of who they were when they made those vows, and how far they have come. Our theme of RRRENEWENEWENEW, BBBELIEVEELIEVEELIEVE, PPPROCLAIMROCLAIMROCLAIM is not because we have lost or are lagging in our faith; but indeed, it is to remind us of what brought us to our faith in the first place, and how far we have grown in our journey. By renewing our own promises as disciples of Christ we are even more open to carry out our beliefs and strengthen what they mean to us. This makes the voice we use to proclaim even stronger, and we become our own living witness to the Word we proclaim to others. Our Diocesan Congress gives us a chance to do this…to RRRENEWENEWENEW our faith so that we may remember what we BBBELIEVEELIEVEELIEVE, and PPPROCLAIMROCLAIMROCLAIM it with the roar of a lion. Let us go forth and be agents of that Word, and proclaim to all the nations the goodness of our God!

Yo tuve la bendición de estar presente (y ayudar a planificar) los 25 y 50 años de aniversario para mis papás, los dos fueron celebrados con misas de renovación de votos. Fueron experiencias profundas en mi vida, me recordaron la necesidad de recordar la razón por la que hacemos compromisos y promesas. Mis padres no perdieron su relación; la renovación de votos simplemente les recordó de quienes eran cuando hicieron los votos por primera vez, y lo lejos que han llegado. Nuestro tema de RRRENUEVAENUEVAENUEVA, CCCREEREEREE, PPPROCLAMAROCLAMAROCLAMA no es porque hemos perdido o estamos rezagados en nuestra fe; sino en efecto, es para recordarnos de lo que nos trajo a la fe en primer lugar, y cuanto hemos crecido en nuestra jornada. Al renovar nuestras propias promesas como discípulos de Cristo estamos más abiertos para llevar a cabo nuestras creencias y fortalecer lo que significan para nosotros. Esto hace que la voz que usamos para proclamar sea más fuerte, y nos convirtamos en nuestro propio testigo vivo a la Palabra que proclamamos a otros. Nuestro Congreso Diocesano nos da la oportunidad para hacer esto… RENOVARRENOVARRENOVAR nuestra fe para poder recordar lo que CREEMOSCREEMOSCREEMOS, y PROCLAMARLOPROCLAMARLOPROCLAMARLO como el rugir de un león. ¡Vallamos pues y seamos portadores de esa Palabra, y proclamemos a todas las naciones la bondad de nuestro Dios!

T he Media Center provides resources for all to use; parishes, catechists, lay people, youth and young adult, etc. We have resources available for catechetical,

formation, spiritual growth, parish life and much more. We have books, movies with messages/inspirational, movies of saints’ life stories and for children. We have available to preview samples of Adaptive Finding God Kit, Adaptive Learning –Kit –Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation. We also have FILM clips for all grade levels. These short clips provide students with situations that relate to ―real life‖ experiences and draw them into a natural engagement with the subject. The Media Center also provides a variety of different types of music for reflection, meditation, liturgical seasons and much more in English and Spanish. B rothers and Sisters in Christ, welcome to your Diocesan Congress 2019 ―Renew, Believe, Proclaim‖. As we gather to celebrate as a Diocese and take part

in this congregation of the Catholic faithful let us embrace the messages that our Lord will offer us through the workshops we will be taking along with the celebration of the Liturgy. For those that are here and serve in the ministry of catechesis or any ministry in which the faith is shared I thank you for the efforts which you have made to achieve basic catechist certification and I thank those that are striving to complete this requirement, but most importantly I wish to express my sincerest gratitude to all of you whom have chosen to continue to grow in your journey of faith and continue to seek formation within our Diocese for the benefit of your ministries in service of the Lord’s people and yourselves. As we continue to serve in ministry let us always remember to take the time necessitated for own spiritual growth as well, along with the knowledge of the Lord’s word, so that we may be able to continuously renew ourselves as an ever-growing presence of the Lord’s message, believe in Him and all that He has graciously offered us and continue to proclaim His message of love, hope, and peace throughout our everyday lives in our journey of faith. H ermanos y Hermanas en Cristo bienvenidos a su Congreso Diocesano 2019 "Renueva, Cree, Proclama". Al reunirnos para celebrar como diócesis

y participar en esta congregación de fieles católicos, abracemos los mensajes que nuestro Señor nos ofrecerá a través de los talleres que tomaremos junto con la celebración de la liturgia. Por los que están aquí y sirven en el ministerio de catequesis o en cualquier ministerio en el que se comparte la fe les agradezco los esfuerzos que han hecho para lograr la certificación básica de catequista y agradezco a los que se esfuerzan por completar este requisito, pero lo más importante, deseo expresar mi más sincera gratitud a todos ustedes, que han elegido seguir creciendo en su camino de fe y buscando la formación en nuestra diócesis en beneficio de sus ministerios al servicio del pueblo del Señor y de ustedes mismos. A medida que sigamos sirviendo en el ministerio, recordemos siempre de tomarnos el tiempo necesario para el propio crecimiento espiritual, así como el conocimiento de la palabra del Señor, a fin de que podamos renovarnos continuamente como una presencia cada vez mayor de la palabra del Señor, creer en El y en todo lo que nos ha ofrecido con su gracia y continuemos proclamando Su mensaje de amor, esperanza y paz a lo largo de nuestra vida cotidiana en nuestro camino de fe. School of Ministry Programs

A renewed spirit is one that seeks to learn and grow. As a diocese, we strive to support anyone who desires to learn more about their faith, and

provide the means to continue learning. The School of Ministry has several programs, each with its own mission and function. Certificates are wonderful to earn and hang on the wall, but it is only when they are used for the benefit of others that we get the greatest joy! A few of the certifications we currently offer are:

Lay Formation Institute: Lay Formation Institute: Lay Formation Institute: A three-year program; LFI

is focused on training laity to be leaders in their own parish. Although there is a heavily theological content, the true mission is teaching skills for leadership and evangelization in a parish.

Master Catechist: Master Catechist: Master Catechist: The Master Catechist provides theology and skills for those who wish to go out and train and form other catechists. The certification comes with the commitment to teach courses in parishes and continue to spread the knowledge they have learned.

Advanced Certification: Advanced Certification: Advanced Certification: Launching this year are specialized certifications in areas of ministry. Currently (and hopefully soon to be released) are certifications in R.C.I.A., Youth Ministry, Hispanic Ministry, and Advanced Catechist. Courses for a program in the Sacrament of Matrimony are already underway. Keep in touch to hear more about these very soon!

Escuela de Ministerio...

U n espíritu renovado es uno que busca aprender y crecer. Como diócesis, nos esforzamos en apoyar a quien desea aprender más sobre su fe y proveerle los medios para

seguir aprendiendo. La Escuela de Ministerio tiene varios programas, cada uno con su propia misión y función. Es bonito recibir certificados y ponerlos en la pared, pero ¡es solo cuando se usan al beneficio de otros que recibimos el mejor gozo! Unas de las certificaciones que estamos ofreciendo son:

Instituto de Formación para Laicos: Instituto de Formación para Laicos: Instituto de Formación para Laicos: Un programa de tres años; LFI, por sus siglas en inglés, se enfoca de entrenar a los laicos para ser líderes en sus parroquias. Aunque tiene un fuerte contenido teológico, la misión verdadera es la enseñanza de habilidades para liderazgo y evangelización en una parroquia.

Catequista a Nivel Maestría: Catequista a Nivel Maestría: Catequista a Nivel Maestría: el Catequista a Nivel Maestría provee teología y habilidades a aquellos que desean salir a entrenar y dar formación a otros catequistas. La certificación viene con el compromiso de enseñar cursos en diferentes parroquias y continuar propagando la sabiduría de lo que han aprendido.

Certificación Avanzada: Certificación Avanzada: Certificación Avanzada: este año lanzaremos certificaciones especializadas en áreas de ministerio. Actualmente (y esperamos que pronto estén disponibles) hay certificaciones para R.I.C.A., Ministerio Juvenil, Ministerio Hispano y Catequista Avanzado. También está en proceso cursos para un programa en el Sacramento del Matrimonio. ¡Manténgase en contacto para saber más acerca de estos entrenamientos muy pronto!

Según crecen las necesidades, nosotros seguimos agregando cursos y proveemos tanta información como sea necesaria para que los ministros puedan servir al Pueblo de Dios en la Diócesis de Fresno.
