Como niños, una de las preguntas mas comunes que recibimos es “¿Qué quieres ser cuando crezcas?” A tal pregunta, hemos llegado a dar respuestas como, Yo quiero ser un “Bombero” o un “Doctor”. Por su puesto, siempre hay respuestas que hacen que otros se rían, como Yo quiero ser “Superman” o la “Mujer Maravilla”. Cada uno de esas respuestas son admirables y
podrán tener cierto grado de verdad a lo que uno podrá llega hacer mas tarde en la vida, pero cuantos de vosotros podemos decir que hemos o dicho o llegado a escuchar la siguiente respuesta a semejante pregunta… ¡Yo quiero ser el mejor hijo o hija de Dios que puedo ser! En la vida hay veces que nos sentimos motivados llegar hacer lo que vemos, pero si no estamos motivando a otros a ser los mejores hijos e hijas de Dios, ¿acaso no estamos perdiendo nuestro propósito de vida aquí en la tierra? En el Sacramento del Bautismo, fuimos marcados por la señal de fe y recibimos el Espíritu de Amor, es decir el Espíritu Santo. Fue ese mismo Espíritu que recibimos plenamente en la confirmación, ¿pero cuantos de vosotros nos permitimos dejar mover por el Espíritu? Si fuésemos tan solo un poco mas preocupados de ser eso a lo cual Dios nos creo para ser, es decir ser amados y demostrar plenamente el amor, entonces podríamos comenzar a entender que vuestro verdadero propósito en la vida es simplemente ser amados y dejar que el Espíritu de Amor nos mueva cada día.
With a Spirit of Love,
As children, one of the most commonly asked questions that we received is “What do you want to be when you grow up?” To such a question, we have often given responses such as, I want to be a “Fireman” or a “Doctor”. Of course there are always those responses that make others laugh such as, I want to be “Superman” or “Wonder Woman”. Each and every one of these responses is admirable and may have a certain degree of truth to them as to what one may develop to be later in life, but how many of us can say that we have either given or heard the following response to such question… I want to be the best son or daughter of God that I can be! In life often times we feel motivated to be that which we see, but if we are not motivating others to be the best sons or daughters of God, are we not missing the true purpose of our life here on earth? In the Sacrament of Baptism, we were marked by the sign of faith and received the Spirit of Love, that is to say the Holy Spirit. It was that same Spirit which we fully received in Confirmation, but how many of us truly allow ourselves to be moved by the Spirit? If we were only a little more concerned of becoming that which God has created us for, that is to be loved and to demonstrate love fully, we would then begin to understand that our true purpose in life is simply to be loved and to allow the Spirit of Love to move us each day.

En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús nos presenta una parábola del sembrador que salió a sembrar, y en su caminar las semillas que cargaba cayeron en cima de distintos terrenos. Algunas áreas fueron rígidas, otras llenas de yerbas, otras aparentaban fructíferos pero la tierra no era muy fértil, y finalmente hubo la
tierra el cual todos defesemos aspirar que nuestras semillas de fe, caigan y crezcan con un testimonio fuerte y ferviente del amor incesable que Dios nos tiene. Algunos de vosotros quizás hemos pasado mas tiempo en algún terreno que otro, pero el llamado que tenemos y la potencial por el cual defesemos aspirar llegar alcanzar con todo lo que tengamos, es el de sobre salir todo lo exterior y quizás hasta algunos obstáculos interiores, y simplemente permitir que nuestra fe en Cristo se fructífero y se multiplique. No nos debiésemos comparar uno mismo y vuestra fa a otras personas, sino debemos de luchar por compartir nuestra fe y vivirlo cada día a lo máximo. En lo que pasan por sus días esta próxima semana, los invito a que hagan un esfuerzo determinado cada mañana de sobre cual tierra quieren que caiga su semilla de fe, y a cada anochecer evaluar si logramos alcanzar vuestra meta o no. No será fácil el mudarnos de un terreno a otro, pero si que vale la pena. Asique que tienes que perder, toma un salto de fe y deja que tu semilla de florezca en Cristo.
In today’s Gospel reading Jesus presents to us the parable of the sower who went out to sow, and on his journey the seeds he carried fell upon different forms of land. Some areas were rigid, others were full of weeds, others looked fruitful but wasn’t very fertile soil, and finally there was that land the one which we should all aspire to have the seeds of faith, fall and grow as a strong and fervent testimony of God’s unending love for us. Each and everyone of us have gone through every single one of those forms of land. Some of us perhaps have spent more time in one form than in another, but the call that we have, the potential for which we are inspired to reach for with all we got, is to overcome all of those exterior and maybe even some interior obstacles, and simply allow our faith in Christ to be fruitful and multiply. We must not compare ourselves and our faith to others, but rather we should strive solely to share our faith and live it each and every day to it’s fullest. As you go about your days this upcoming week, I invite you to make a determined effort each morning as to where you want that seed of faith to land, and each evening see whether or not you achieved your goal. It will not be easy, moving from one form to another, but it sure will be worth it. So what do you have to lose, take a leap of faith and let that seed of faith flourish in Christ?
