The members of Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) team are committed to assisting seekers/inquirers on their journey. Give Me A Chance a ministry of the Daughters of Charity, has been forced to cancel both of the fundraisers that underwrite their ministry to women and children in the Ogden area due to the pandemic. This ministry empowers low-income women by teaching them marketable skills and providing opportunities leading to self-sufficiency. The after-school program offers educational enrichment and academic help for children. While people cannot risk getting together at this time, Give Me a Chance is offering opportunity drawings for prizes such as two quarters of beef, two gorgeous hand-crafted quilts, a fire pit with all the goodies and Sr. Lucia’s famous art class/party. The Knights of Columbus are joining “America Needs Fatima” Rosary Rally for America on Saturday, October 10th at 12 noon at Saint Rose of Lima. All are invited to this event at the Church. Please come and join us as we pray to our Holy Mother for America. Families are encour-aged to attend.

The Knights of Columbus will begin the annual fund-raiser for COATS FOR KIDS on September 26th. Knights will be in the courtyard to explain the campaign and to collect monetary donations for this campaign. Our coats will be distributed on November 10th. If you have

a child in need of a winter coat in grades K thru 12 plan on attending our distribu-tion day. Due to CoVid-19 we will NOT be able to accept used coats.

FREE FOOD DISTRIBUTION ON SEPTEMBER 25TH AT 10:00AM. The Utah Food Bank Layton Mobile Pantry will be at Layton Hills Baptist Church at 1332 N Hillfield Rd, Layton for food distribution. Due to the on-going pandemic, we are planning for a very different Christian Formation program in the 2020 – 2021 year. We will still be helping your children grow in faith and we will still be preparing them to receive the sacraments. To keep them safe, we won’t be having them come in for classes.

After you register your child, they will receive a textbook for the year. The book includes five sections with five lessons each. You will be helping your child work on the lessons at your home. To help you prepare we will hold a parent meeting approximately once a month. At the parent meeting we will go over all of the important information for the upcoming set of lessons. The meetings will be held in the Social Center so that you can be socially distanced and they will be offered on-line if you prefer to not come in.

During the month Saint Rose catechists will be available via email or telephone to answer any questions you might have. We have heard of other parishes which have successfully used this new method of Christian Formation. At first the parents are hesitant, but most of them reported that they enjoyed sharing their faith with their children. Families report being closer together and growing closer to God.

For children who are preparing for sacraments, we will also have some in-person sessions. Children who are preparing for First Holy Communion will come in to meet with a catechist once a month. These days are marked in yellow on the calendar.

Children who are in their second year of preparation for Confirmation will come in once a month for an in person session with a catechist. Those days are marked in blue on the calendar.

If you know any children who weren’t in Christian Formation last year,

but who want to register this year, please have them contact Karina

Mendoza at the parish office at 801-544-4269.

Debido a la continua pandemia, estamos planeando un programa de Formación Cristiana muy diferente para este próximo año 2020-2021. Nosotros seguiremos ayudando a sus hijos( as) a crecer en la fe y los seguiremos preparando para recibir los Sacramentos. Para mantenerlos a salvo, no los haremos venir a los salones de clases. We have beginning Phase III in this phase, we will permit 100 or less parishion-ers into the celebration of the Eucharist.

For weekdays and weekend Masses, you will no longer

need to call to reserve seating.

For contact tracing, we will ask for your full name and

Then you will be led by an Usher/Minister of Hospitality

to your seats

If we reach capacity of 100, we will need to close our

doors so please come early.

If the numbers increase, we will need to add another

Mass.

A weekday Mass will fulfill your Sunday obligation.

Dispensation is granted if you are unable to attend a Mass.

Please come 30 minutes early

Wear a mask at all times, maintain 6 feet distancing and wash your hands thoroughly!

The Diocese of Salt Lake City is pleased to introduce Project Rachel, a ministry that ensures Christ’s mercy is proclaimed and available to those who have been wounded spiritually and emotionally by abortion. Project Rachel was founded in 1984 in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. Since then it has grown into a worldwide diocesan-based ministry comprised of a network of trained priests, counselors and laypersons. Amy Davis, a Catholic licensed mental health counselor, will be offering her services at no charge to assist in the ministry. She will be in her office at the Pastoral Center on Wednesday afternoons beginning in October to provide counseling to anyone impacted by abortion, whether this be parents, grandparents or those leaving the abortion industry. In addition, she will also be offering her services to those experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.
