Resumen: La diabetes mellitus constituye un problema de salud de enormes proporciones por su frecuencia y sus complicaciones crnicas, entre ellas, el pie diabtico. La complicacin ms grave del pie diabtico es la lcera y su aparicin puede determinar la evolucin final del mismo ya que a menudo ocasiona la amputacin de la pierna. Hasta el 85% de los problemas relacionados con el pie diabtico se pueden prevenir mediante la combinacin de cuidados podolgicos y educacin para la salud. De ah la importancia de un diagnstico precoz, medidas preventivas nutricionales y un tratamiento adecuado de la lesin, para mantener la integridad del pie y evitar un gran nmero de amputaciones. El objetivo es identificar, en nuestros pacientes, los factores asociados al desarrollo de la lcera. El mtodo utilizado es un estudio descriptivo transversal. Variable dependiente: presencia de lcera en pacientes diabticos. Variables independientes: datos sociodemogrficos de los diabticos, caractersticas y cuidados de las lceras y variables relacionadas con la prevencin del pie diabtico por enfermera primaria. Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is a health problem of enormous proportions by their frequency and their chronic complications, including diabetic foot. The most serious complication is diabetic foot ulcers and their appearance could determine the final outcome of the same as it often leads to amputation of the leg. Up to 85% of the associated with the diabetic foot can be prevented through nutritions a combination of podiatry care and health education. The ojetivo is to identify, in our patients , factorsassociated with the development of the ulcer.The methodology used is cross-sectional study. Dependent variable: the presence of ulcers in diabetic patients.
