MONTH OF MARY – The month of May is traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. During this month we will have the traditional “Crowning of Mary” by our School and Religious Education children. The May Crown-ing by the school will take place on May 18th at 9:00 a.m. followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. I en-courage you this month especially to pray the Rosary which is the most wonderful of Marian devotions.

MOTHERS’ DAY – Next Sunday is Mothers’ Day. We will have a special blessing for all mothers at each Mass. A wonderful gift for your mother (or grandmother or God-mother or sister, etc.) would be a remembrance in our an-nual Novena of Masses. Please stop by the rectory to obtain the special cards. Be sure to return the enrollment enve-lopes this week so they are included in the Novena which begins next week.

SUMMER SCHOOL! – Once again this year, our Parish School will be offering Summer School. This is a wonder-ful opportunity for parents to be able to take advantage of additional instruction of their children during the summer months. There will also be child-care available after school. Enrollment is open to all children regardless of what school they currently attend. Please register as soon as possible since space is limited. Contact the school for further infor-mation.

OPEN ENROLLMENT – This is also the time of year in which our Parish School holds open enrollment for new students. St. John Chrysostom School provides the finest Catholic education in our community. If you are interested in enrolling your child, please stop by the school office as soon as possible as spaces are very limited.

FIRST COMMUNIONS – Yesterday the 2nd graders from our Parish School received their First Holy Commun-ion. On Saturday, May 19th, the children from our Reli-gious Education Program will celebrate their First Holy Communion at 3 separate Masses (9:30am, 11:30am & 2:00pm). MES DE MARÍA - El mes de mayo esta dedicado tradicio-nalmente a nuestra Santa Madre María. Durante este mes ten-dremos la tradicional "Coronación de María" por parte de nuestros niños de la esquela parroquial y la Educación religio-sa. La coronación de mayo por la escuela se llevará a cabo el 18 de mayo a las 9:00 a.m. seguido con la Bendición del San-tísimo Sacramento. Le animo que este mes especialmente reze el Rosario, que es una de las más maravillosas devociones marianas.

DÍA DE LAS MADRES - El próximo domingo es el día de las madres. Tendremos una bendición especial para todas las madres en cada Misa. Un regalo maravilloso para su madre (o abuela o madrina o hermana, etc.) sería un recuerdo en nuestra Novena de Misas anual. Pase por la rectoría para obtener las tarjetas especiales. Asegúrese de devolver los sobres de ins-cripción esta semana para que estén incluidos en la Novena que comienza la próxima semana.

¡ESCUELA DE VERANO! - Una vez más este año, nuestra Escuela Parroquial ofrecerá la escuela de verano. Esta es una oportunidad maravillosa para que los padres puedan aprove-char la instrucción adicional para sus hijos durante los meses de verano. También habrá cuidado de niños disponible des-pués de la escuela. La inscripción está abierta a todos los ni-ños sin importar a qué escuela asisten actualmente. PRIMERAS COMUNIONES: Ayer los alumnos de 2 ° gra-do de nuestra escuela parroquial recibieron su Primera Comu-nión. El sábado, 19 de mayo, los niños de nuestro Programa de Educación Religiosa celebrarán su Primera Comunión en 3 Misas separadas (9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. y 2:00 p.m.). It is with hope in the resurrection that we regretfully have to announce to you the death of Ms. Bar-bara Wright. Ms. Barbara Wright was a long time parishioner here at St. John Chrysostom she passed away on April 20, 2018. The vigil is this evening at Inglewood Cemetery Mortuary at 7:30 p.m. You are welcome to accompany us as we say farewell to her on Monday. May 7, 2018 at 10:30 a.m for her funeral Mass. Please remember her in your prayers and Masses.

Here at St. John Chrysostom we have Baptisms every first and third Saturday in Spanish and every second and fourth Satur-day of the month in English. In order to encourage parents to baptize their children as soon as possible, which is what the law of the Church desires, all fees will be waived when a baby is presented for Baptism within the first month of his birth. The Church teaches that a child should be baptized as soon as possible after birth so please stop by the rectory to register your baby for Baptism two months before the due date. That way, after the birth, the baptism is already sched-uled.

¡BAUTIZOS DE INFANTES GRATIS!

Aquí en San Juan Crisóstomo tenemos Bautizos cada primer & tercer sábado en español y el segundo y cuarto sábado del mes en inglés. Con el fin de motivar a los padres a bautizar sus hijos lo más rápido posible después del nacimiento, no se pedirá ningún donativo cuando se presenta un bebé para Bautismo dentro de su primer mes de nacimiento. La Iglesia enseña que los niños se deben de bautizar lo más rápido posi-ble después de nacer así que, por favor, pase por la rectoría a inscribir su bebe para Bautismo dos meses antes de la fecha de nacimiento. En esta manera, después del nacimiento ya el bautismo esta programado.

It is very important that the pledges be paid so that our parish will reach and, hopefully, exceed our goal. Once the pledge payments have exceeded our goal, we receive all of the additional funds for use in our parish ministries.
