BAPTISM / BAUTISMO Baptisms in English take place on the Sunday of the last Sunday of
the month at 2:30 p.m. during the following months: January,
March, May, July, September and November. Parents should call the Parish Office to arrange the Baptism. Parents are required to
attend a Pre-Baptism Class.

THE LIGHT OF FAITH
The first reading today is charged with the glory of
the Lord. Everyone who can come to the holy city does
come—whole caravans of people of all ages on foot and
on dromedaries and camels.
This description of an irresistible light-filled city
prepares us for the story of the magi. They are guid-
ed by their own lights—their study of astronomy and
astrology—and by the light of a peculiar star. Their
study tells them that an unusual event in the heavens
is a sign of an extraordinary birth on earth. They
mean to find out about this, and they set out with
gifts worthy of a king.
They are welcomed into an insignificant house in
Bethlehem, offer gifts befitting a king, and receive
the gift of faith. Paul reinforces the great gift of
faith available to the Gentiles, whom the magi repre-
sent. What they have seen has changed them, just as
it changed Paul and all who heeded his proclamation.
Like the magi and like Paul, we are invited to receive

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE
Es tiempo de añadir los reyes magos al pesebre. En
1448 llegaron los pesebres italianos a las iglesias
españolas, pero no fue hasta que el Rey Carlos III le
regaló un pesebre a su hijo en el siglo XVIII que el uso
de pesebres se expandió en los hogares. Desde entonc-
es, el uso de nacimientos llegó al continente americano
en donde se conviertió en la decoración principal para
las fiestas navideñas. Así como en todo país latino-
americano el montaje del Belén es una tradición, lo es
también en Venezuela. Con el pesebre venezolano
llegan también aguinaldos, parrandas, Misas y patines.
¡Sí! ¡Patines! Desde la mitad del siglo pasado los vene-
zolanos celebran la época navideña con “patinadas”.
Estas “patinadas” normalmente se hacen por las maña-
nas y muchas calles están cerradas a los autos hasta
las 8 a.m. para que niños y jóvenes puedan disfrutar de
los patines, bicicletas y otros juguetes que les regala
el niño Dios. Por esto, muchos niños duermen con un
“cordoncito” atado al dedo gordo de los pies, que cuel-
gan por la ventana para que los despierten los que pa-
san patinado.

5，為了滿足大家靈修生活的渴望，本堂於2013年10月開
始，每週四早上8點半增加了一台中文彌撒，緊接著彌

主顯節是慶祝主耶穌顯露給外邦人（東方賢士）的節日。
我們全是外邦人，因此，對我們來說，主顯節也是我們一
個重大的日子。
主顯節包含兩個重要的意義：一是天主主動地以星光、
以聖經的話、以猶太經師，顯露自己；二是人對天主顯示
的回應，賢士、黑落德、耶路撒冷居民反應各不同。讓我
們嘗試以賢士的回應，看看主顯節為我們的信仰有什麼意
義。
面對天主主動顯示自己，賢士的第一反應是詢問：「新
生的猶太人君王在哪裡？」不錯，信仰往往是從詢問開始
的。只要對信仰作無限的追問，人便會接近天主。在聖經
的記載中，很多次信仰是從詢問引發的：「你們在找什
麼？」「師傅，你住在哪裡？」「你們說我是誰？」「善
師，我應做什麼才能得永生？」只要人不停地追問，天主
一定會在適當的時候，以適當的方式回答。賢士就是因追
問而獲知聖嬰所在。可是，只會追問，不去尋找的人是會
錯過天主的恩寵的。比拉多就是個好例子，他曾問：「什
麼是真理？」可是問完卻不去找答案，雖然答案就在他面
前。
尋找需要勇氣，會經歷挫敗。賢士離鄉別井，千里迢迢
來到一個陌生的地方，向猶太藩王問新生猶太君王，需要
很大的勇氣，途中星光消失是一個種挫折，但他們排除萬
難，努力尋找，終於找到嬰孩耶穌。人的一生都是在尋
找，如果尋找的是東西，例如名利，最多只會得到東西，
東西只能給短暫的滿足，人總不能帶著東西離開人間。只
有尋找的對象是天主，人在離世時，不但不會失去，更會
永遠與天主在一起。
賢士見到嬰孩耶穌後，便向祂俯伏朝拜，並獻上珍貴的
禮品：黃金、乳香和沒藥。向嬰孩俯伏是一種謙遜表示，
驕傲是人的第一個罪，驕傲的人只看見自己。今天白冷聖
堂的門建得又矮又小，人們要彎下身子才可以進入，大概
表示只有謙遜的人才可見到嬰孩耶穌吧。三件禮物本身各
有深意，為我們來說，我們能否獻出像黃金一樣寶貴的時
