El 2 de noviembre, es cuando oramos por nuestros seres queridos quienes han falleci-do y podrían estar en el Purgatorio.. Ora-mos por la expiración de sus pecados. Celebraremos Misa Bilingüe el Viernes 2 de Noviembre a las 7:00pm. Habrá sobres en la entrada de la iglesia para las intencio-nes del Día de los Fieles Difuntos. Se les pide una donación voluntaria y que sean consientes con la donación que van a ofrendar. El nombre de los difuntos será expuesto en un manto el día de la Misa. Y se orara por Todos ellos muy en especial. También el Primer Viernes del mes durante todo un año. Si usted gusta que su ser querido sea recor-dado en esta Misa Especial, favor de regre-sar la inscripción junto con su donación antes del 28 de Octubre.

Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed

- All Souls Day

All Souls Day, Nov. 2, is when we pray for our loved ones who have died who may be in Purgatory. We pray for expiation of their sins and a swift journey, purified of all punishment due to sin, to the Loving arms of our Heavenly Father. Special Bilingual Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. We will have in the back of church envelopes (for a free will donation) for you to place the names all any loved ones you wish re-membered at all the All Souls Mass as well as at the First Friday masses throughout the year. We also invite you to bring pictures of your loved ones who have gone to God on all Souls Day and place them in the Sanctuary. We will be making a banner with the names of all our loves ones. Please turn in the names by the 28th of October.

Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal Third Follow-Up Mailing and Pledge Reminders

A fourth request for a contribution to the 2012 Catholic Ministries Appeal has been mailed to all parishioners who have not made a contribution. The Appeal provides critical funding to diocesan ministries that serve individuals and parishes throughout the Diocese of Joliet. It also provides refunds of 50% of the cash re-ceived (not pledged) over the parish goal to each parish. If you receive this mailing, please respond gener-ously. You will be helping both our diocese and our parish.

Also, the ninth monthly reminders have been sent to those that made an in-pew pledge to the Appeal. Those that pledged by direct mail have already received payment coupons. Thank you for your gifts, and please make your payment as soon as possible.

For your convenience, you can bring your pledge payments to Mass and place them in the basket. The parish will forward them to the diocese.

2012 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal Pledge Report

Monthly pledge payments for the CMAA pledges should be made in the next few days. It is very important that these pledges be paid so that our parish will reach our goal. Once we have reached our goal in paid pledges, 50% of the additional funds received will be returned ti the parish for our use.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION “What is the Church if not the assembly of all the saints?” wrote the fifth-century bishop Niceta. Each Sunday, in the Profession of Faith, we express our belief in the communion of saints, the one body—with Christ as its head—made up of “those who are pilgrims on earth, the dead who are being pu-rified and the blessed in heaven.” We are not lone! The pref-ace for All Saints begins, “For today by your gift we celebrate the festival of your city, the heavenly Jerusalem, our mother.” What astounding words! All Saints Day (like every solemnity) is nothing less than the festival of the fullness of the paschal mystery, our dying and rising in Christ. Of course, now in au-tumn the mystery comes “clothed” in glorious autumnal garb, and so we celebrate our Easter faith with signs of the harvest, signs of nature’s dying, signs of the “homecoming” that hap-pens naturally when the weather gets cold and families find themselves together more often. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE En México y otros países latinoamericanos se están preparan-do para celebrar el Día de Todos los Santos (1o de noviembre) y el Día de los Muertos (2 de noviembre). Estas dos fiestas cristianas fueron mezcladas con antiguos ritos y devociones mesoamericanas. Ellas enfatizan que la muerte es parte normal del ciclo de la vida y que los difuntos no se olvidan de sus seres queridos. Esta es la base de la devoción católica a los santos: Dios es Dios de los vivos y no de los muertos (Mateo 22:32); por eso los muertos siguen vivos en una nueva dimensión. En estos días las familias pasan tiempo en los cementerios, visitan-do las tumbas de sus parientes y amistades, lavando las lápidas, poniendo arreglos de cempasúchil y encendiendo veladoras. En casa, muchos latinos construyen y adornan altarcitos dedi-cándolos a las almas de sus seres queridos que han muerto. En los altares se encuentran papel picado, fotos de los difuntos, artículos religiosos, comida, bebida, cigarritos y otras cosas que los ya muertos disfrutaban durante sus vidas.
