What if…?
Antonio Cortez and Oscar one of his brothers are talking on the phone. Oscar has a girl problem They're not planning a wedding, and Oscar doesn't have plans to buy matching engagement rings just yet, but who knows what will happen if Oscar follows Antonio's advice, maybe it could lead to a search to buy engagement wedding bands.
1. Intro warm-up situation

Hey, Oscar,
what's up?
Nothing... you
know, I really like
this girl, and I
want to ask her
out.
So, what's the
problem? Well, what if I
ask her and she
says no?
Conversation
Why would
she say no?
Well, maybe if I
were in a band,
she'd go out with
me. Do you want
to start a band?
No. You don't
even play an
instrument. That's
crazy.
Yeah. Well, I think
her last boyfriend
had a really cool
car. Maybe if I had
a nicer car, she'd

Conditional sentences
Conditionals in English express that the action in the first sentence or clause (without “if”) can take place if a certain condition (in the “if” clause) is fulfilled. There are many types of conditionals in English, but three of them will be explained. The 0, 1 and 2 conditionals. Conditional type 0- zero IF + SIMPLE PRESENT + SIMPLE PRESENT

It is used for scientific facts or general truths. The word “if” expresses condition, the
word “when” can also be used.

Used to talk about things which are possible in the present or the future. It is
generally used for things which may happen, those facts could be real or possible.
IF + SIMPLE PRESENT + SIMPLE FUTURE

If + Present tense will / can / may / must + verb
If it rains today.
I won’t go to the University.
If I have time, I'll visit my parents this afternoon. If she doesn't call you, you can call her. If you study hard, you will pass your exams.
Conditional type II – Second conditional
It is used to talk about things which are unreal (not true or not possible) in the present or the future. It is generally used for things which don't or won't happen. It is generally used for things which may happen.
IF + SIMPLE PAST + SIMPLE CONDITIONAL
If FIRST verb in the sentence is TO BE, WERE is used for all persons.

If I won the lottery.
I would travel around the world.
If I were in Brazil, I would go to Rio de Janeiro. If I had more money, I would buy a nice apartment. If I were him, I would go and see a doctor. If elephants had wings, they would be able to fly.
In English, there are many words as “Me” with the vocalic sound /i:/

In past conditional sentences in which the verb to be appears, the verb tenses “was” or “were” can be used indistinctly. Example: If I was /were rich, I’d buy a yatch. The sentence that introduces the condition is placed at the beginning and it is followed by a coma. Example: If I were you, I´d go. The word “when” can only introduce a conditional sentence in present tense, but not in past tense.
