"To be alike
El verbo to be alike se traduce por parecerse, ser parecido:
My brother and you are alike.
Mi hermano y usted se parecen.
Diferencias entre verbos
to break/to tear
As:
Romperse una pierna = To break a leg
Romper un vaso = To break a glass
Romper un papel = To tear a paper
Romperse un vestido = To tear a dress
As:
Ill meet you after mid-morning break.
Ten minutes break.
Diez minutos de descanso.
"to take/to catch
Los verbos to take (coger) y to catch (coger) no pueden emplearse indistintamente. Cuando signifique tomar recurriremos a to take y cuando haya idea de atrapar (coger con dificultad), a to catch. As:
Ill take the bus at the bus stop.
Coger el autobs en la parada.
Pero se dir:
I caught (pasado de to catch) the bus when it was about to move off.

"To have a good time
Ejemplo:
Yesterday we had good weather and we had a good time at the picnic.
"To go in for
We go in for sports = Nos dedicamos al deporte.
Nos interesa el deporte.

party or a ball, but others prefer to spend their time in the open air
going in for sports or games. Finally there are losts of people who
prefer to remain at home enjoying themselves reading, playing music
provided that they are musically minded.

CURSO INGLES MEDIO Rev. : 00
Unidad didctica 6 Pgina 5 de 18

Traduccin de evitar

Nuevo sentido de very
