Flops: inventos que no cuajaron

A lo l a r g o de la h i s t o r i a de la t e c n o l o g í a , ha h a b i d o

n u m e r o s o s i n v e n t o s q u e h a n c r ea d o m u c h a s e x p e c ta

t ivas p e r o que f i n a l m e n t e no h a n c u a j a d o en el m e r

c a d o . U n o deestos casos ese l lá s e r d i s c (L D ) , u n fo r

m a t o de v í d e o y a u d i o d i g i t a l c r e a d o en l a d é c a d a de

1 9 5 0 y l a n z a d o c o m e r c i a l m e n t e p o c o antes de 1980.

¿ P o r qué no ha t r iu n f a d o ? U n a de las causas ha s i

d o , a p a r t e d e l p r e c i o e x ce s i va m e n t e e l e v a d o de los

l e c t o r e s , su g r a n t a m a ñ o . U n l á s er d i s c es bastante

m á s g r a n d e q u e l o s C D o D V D a c t ua l e s. A d e m á s , se

g r a b a p o r a m b a s c a r a s , de m a n e r a que p a r a a c a b a r

d e ver u n a p e l í c u l a es n e c e s a r i o d a r l e la v u e l t a , lo

q u e r e s u l t a i n c ó m o d o .

E l L D fue el p r e c u r s o r del D V D , que a p a r e c i ó en

1 9 9 5 y e n p o c o s a ñ o s se i n s t a l ó en c a s i t o d o s l o s s a
