Das StudienangebotCourses of Study
All incoming students are required to fill in our Learning Agreement (LA), most often in addition to the one you got from your home university. The International Office of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities II will check your LA(s) and sign it. Each subject needs an individual LA. If both courses belong to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities II, you may compile only one LA.
To create your HU LA visit http://www.philfak2.hu-berlin.de/international/In/Las/ and download the template. Please fill it out and send it by E-MAIL to: [email protected] The International Office will examine and sign your Learning Agreement if it is correct. You can then pick it up at our office in DOR 24, 3.412. Important: You will need a copy of your signed Learning Agreement at the end of the semester to receive your Transcript of Records.
Learning Agreement
A module consists out of two or more classes (lectures (VL), seminars (SE), tutorials (TUT), practices (UE)). Each module ends with a module examination, the so-called MAP.
You will need to take as many classes as the module overview indicates.
You can only study complete modules at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities II. We will not give out credits for individual classes. There is also no possibility to take the module examination at the end of the semester if you do not complete the whole module. The only exceptions are the Language courses in the Department of English and American Studies and Slavic Studies listed in the brochure.
ModuleModules
Reminder: A lot of modules endure 2 semesters. Please make sure you will be able to complete the module before you are leaving Humboldt! If you only stay for one semester you cannot take modules that last for two semesters. All the modules in the brochure “Module fürProgrammstudierende” are only one semester long and therefore perfect for a student who only stays for one semester. Please note that you are not allowed to participate in a module more than once, even if you take different classes. If you sign up for a module that you have already taken in the previous semester, you will receive 0 ECTS points. The only exception are the American Studies modules in the brochure: you can select option A, B, and C with different courses but only once!

ECTS points are only credited for passed examinations after attending a complete module and not subject to negotiations. It is not possible to receive more ECTS points than Studienpunkte(SP). Each module overview will give you the exact number of ECTS points that you will receive upon completion and passing the examination (1 SP = 1 ECTS).
