International Association of Universities GMAIII Asociación Nacional de Universidades e Instituciones de Educación Superior (ANUIES) The National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (ANUIES in Spanish) was founded in 1950 and since then has played an active role in the development of higher education in Mexico. ANUIES is a plural non-governmental organization which gathers the 152 most important public and private institutions of higher education in Mexico. It thus covers 80% of the total student enrollment in Mexico, at the technical, bachelor’s and graduate levels. Many international organizations recognize ANUIES as the primary association of institutions of higher education in Mexico, and a central focus through which projects for academic mobility and cooperation can be implemented. Among our objectives are: As a non-governmental actor, to plead for the development and the funding of higher education in Mexico. ANUIES promotes the interests of its member institutions and represents them before the Mexican State, as well as before other organizations. To carry out strategic studies in order to foresee the most important tendencies in higher education in the future. To promote networks and establish cooperation agreements with national and international organizations. To establish standards for the quality, planning, evaluation and accreditation of higher education.
