Bacalhau Portuguese word for cod and, in a culinary context, dried and salted cod.There are said to be over 1000 recipes in Portugal and it can be considered the iconic ingredient of Portuguese cuisine.

Pastel de NataPortuguese egg tart pastry. Created before the 18th century by Catholic monks at the Jernimos Monastery. Nowadays, the most popular ones are the Pastis de Belm, a shop located near the monastery they were created. Theyre normally eaten with cinnamon and powder sugar on top.

WineConsidered by many the best wines in the world, Portuguese wines are produced in different regions of the country such as Douro, Alentejo and Setbal. The different climate conditions and terrain geography in this regions leads to different wines flavours and textures.The export of Portuguese wines is a great contribution to the countrys economy.

Arrbida National ParkIs a natural park located on the northern shore of the Sado River estuary in Portugal. Founded in 1976 and covering 108 square kilometers, it is one of the 30 areas which are officially under protection in the country. The two beaches in this park are Portinho da Arrbida and Figueirinha.

Jernimos MonasteryIs a monastery of the Order of Saint Jerome located near the shore of the parish of Belm and it took 100 years to be built, starting in 1501. The style of architecture was later named as Manueline: a richly ornate architectural style with complex sculptural themes incorporating maritime elements and objects discovered during naval expeditions, carved in limestone.

Eltricos de LisboaThe Lisbon tramway network serves the municipality of Lisbon. In operation since 1873, it presently comprises five urban lines. The first tramway in Lisbon entered service on 17 November 1873, as a horsecar line. On 30 August 1901, Lisbon's first electric tramway started operations.

Belm TowerOr the Tower of St Vincent is a fortified tower located in the civil parish of Santa Maria de Belm in the municipality of Lisbon. The tower was commissioned by King JohnII to be part of a defense system at the mouth of Tejo river and a ceremonial gateway to Lisbon. It was built in the early 16th century.

Pena National PalaceIs a Romanticist palace in So Pedro de Penaferrim, in the municipality of Sintra. It is a national monument and constitutes one of the major expressions of 19th-century Romanticism in the world. It is considered one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal.

Guimares CastleIt is the principal medieval castle in the municipality Guimares, in the northern region of Portugal. It was ordered constructed by D. Mumadona Dias in the 10th century in order to defend its monastery from attacks by Moors and Norman. Its area is delineated by walls forming a pentagram, similar to a shield, that includes eight rectangular towers, military square and central keep.
