Aim of projectFigure out antioxidants activity and phenolic
contents of strawberry.Explore anti-diabetic & anticancer activities of
mature strawberry fruit.Investigate the folate effects of strawberry on
cardiovascular diseases.
Antioxidant action of Vitamin C, carotenoids & Phenols.
Anticancerous activity of polyphenols.
Folate’s effects on cardiovascular diseases.
.
Folate helps maintain normal levels of homocysteine, an amino acid that may be an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Low dietary folate intakes, low circulating folate levels or high plasma total homocysteine concentrations have been associated with an increased risk of coronary artery disease.
Material and MethodsThe experiment will be carried out in laboratory. First
of all sample will be prepared and extract will be prepared of fresh strawberry fruit. Fractionation will be done by Solid Phase extraction (SPE).
Folin ciocalteu reagent will be used for the measurement of total phenolic contents of strawberry fruit.
Liquid chromatography and HPLC will be done for extraction of Vitamin C & Folate present in strawberry fruit.
Anthocyanins contents will be determined by PH Differential method.
Continue..Stable radical assay DPPH (1,1-diphenile-2-
picrylhydrazile radical) and FRAP (Ferric reducing antioxidant power) techniques will be performed for evaluation of free radical scavenging activity.
To check the anti-diabetic activities of strawberry fruit, Alpha-amylase inhibition assay and alpha-Glucosidase inhibition assay will be used.
Statistical AnalysisThe results are expressed as mean ± standard
deviation of three replicates. The data was analyzed for comparison by applying Tuky’s multiple range test at 95% confidence level (p ≤ 0.05) using statistical software SPSS version 19.0.
