Conclusions and Relevance Among patients with severe community-acquired pneumonia and high initial inflammatory response, the acute use of methylprednisolone compared with placebo decreased treatment failure. If replicated, these findings would support the use of corticosteroids as adjunctive treatment in this clinical population.

However, the drug should be available in a very controlled manner in the context of special access programs for the treatment of MDR tuberculosis, linking funding to the generation of evidence or the achievement of clinical results previously agreed.

In 2013, among the world reported cases of pulmo- nary tuberculosis, 450,000 were MDR-TB or XDR-TB. Almost 60% of them were located at India, China and Russian Federation. In Spain, in 2012, 6,046 cases of tu- berculosis were reported, with a 3.9-4.3% proportion of MDR-TB; and approximately 6% of them could be XDR- TB, a higher ratio than other occidental countries
