L 421M ES UN SOFISTICADO CONTROLADOR DE GANACIA, pero lo que hace essimple: hace más altos los sonidos bajos y más bajos los sonidos altos –como lo haría uningeniero con experiencia. Programe el nivel de salida deseado y el 421m suavemente

levantará las señales que caigan por debajo de dicho margen, como tambien bajará suavemente losque se levanten por arriba del mismo. La operación es automática, precisa, y completamentetransparente. El usuario decreta el rango de control y el 421m trabaja exactamente con dichasinstrucciones – automáticamente.

Todos hablamos a diferentes niveles ytrabajamos a variadas distancias del micrófono.La claridad puede variar de persona a personay de momento a momento. Cómo poner a todoel mundo en el mismo nivel? Contratando a uningeniero.... o usando el 421m. El 421m estáequipado para procesar cualquier programa(para aplicaciones estereo dos 421m pueden serunidos). Niveles de programas desdesoundtracks, CD jukeboxes, o audio broadcastque suben y bajan impredeciblemente. El 421mlevanta o baja el nivel de audio suavemente ycomprime los altos niveles sin efectossecundarios. El 421m posee un control de gananciaautomática (AGC) que incorpora unamplificador nivelador que trabaja en conjuntocon un controlador de ratio (de proporción).Incrementando la proporción (ratio) en unamplificador de nivel hace que el programa seamas denso, pero el nivel de salida se mantendríaconstante sin importar el nivel de entrada.Traducción: esto significa que usted podríahablar a un metro del micrófono y tendrá elmismo volumen de salida que si hablara a

10 cm del mismo (y vice versa). Pararelacionarse con el sistema existente el 421mofrece un expansor descendiente que apaciguala salida cuando está ausente la señal deentrada. Un limitador pico provee protección alas bocinas en sistemas en vivo y previene lasobrecarga en sistemas de transmisiónboadcast. Por último filtros de curva de habla(speach curve) cambiables han sidoincorporados para optimizar el rango de voz.

Lo que hace diferente el 421m es cómo susciruitos reaccionan a situaciones reales. Diseñosanteriores de AGC creaban problemas ya queconfundían el ruido y feedback con el programade señal deseado, levantando el ruido ocortando las frases habladas muy bajas. Estosproblemas son eliminados con el sistema decircuitos "Auto Release Monitor", el cualinstantaneamente distingue la diferencia entrela señal real (musica y habla), y el ruido ófeedback.

El sistema de medición del 421m es la llave parala simple operación y programación. Las lucesdel penel de frente muestran la entradacomparada con la salida. Es rápidamentenotable cuándo el 421m agrega o sustraeganancia a la señal. No tendrá que adivinar yaque prodrá oír y ver el resultado de lanivelación.

421m AGC-Leveler

The Automatic Gain Control (AGC) shall bea single channel model that reduces thedynamic range of wide range, widebandaudio signals, providing peak limiting,downward expansion and bandpasslimiting filters. The AGC shall occupy onerack space (1U).

The AGC shall be capable of controllingaudio signals ranging from -70 dBu to +24dBu and reducing their range by an input/output ratio ranging from 1:1 to 4:1. Theinput/output ratio shall be adjustable via afront-panel control. Response speedswitching shall be providedto accommodate speech and musicsources. A target output level control shallbe provided to shift the level of the outputsignal over a nominal ±20 dB range. Therelease time of the AGC shall be controlledby the presence of input signal and thesignal sensor shall be capable ofdiscriminating between music/speech andrandom noise or pure tones. The

The AGC shall provide facilities for stereo-coupling two units via a shielded 5-pin DINmale-to-male cable. A front panel switchshall designate which unit is the masterand which unit is the slave.

The line level inputs shall be activebalanced bridging designs terminated with1/4" TRS female and screw terminals. Themic level input shall also be an activebalance bridging design using a three pinXLR female (AES/IEC standard wiring).The input circuitry shall incorporate RFIfilters. The outputs shall be active balanceddesigns having equal source impedancesand terminated with 3-pin XLR (AES/IECstandard wiring), and screw terminals. Aseparate 1/4" TRS jack shall provide anunbalanced output.

The AGC shall also contain an integralpeak limiter having at least a 10:1 ratio andadjustable threshold level. A green LEDindicator shall be provided to indicate peaklimiter activity. The peak limiter thresholdshall determine the absolute maximumoutput amplitude of the AGC-Levelerregardless of other conditions.

The AGC shall also contain an integraldownward expander having a 1:2expansion ratio with threshold and releasetime controls. Furthermore, the downwardexpander shall be capable of operatingautomatically via the signal sensorcircuitry. A green LED indicator shall beprovided to indicate downward expandercircuit activity.

Bandpass limiting filters shall be providedhaving a low-pass characteristic of 24 dB/octave at 6 kHz and a high-passcharacteristic of 12 dB/octave at 125 Hz.Both filters shall be capable of being usedindividually or simultaneously.

The AGC shall provide identical peakresponding input and output level meters.These meters shall be capable ofresponding to signals ranging from -54 VU

output. There shall be no more than0.02% harmonic distortion, measuredunder the following conditions: +4 dbuinput, +4 dBm output, BYPASS switchout, 1000 Hz. Residual noise output shallbe no greater than -90 dBm, measuredwith a 20 kHz noise bandwidth.

When the unit is inoperative (either byloss of power, or via the BYPASS switch),the inputs and outputs shall be wiredtogether. There shall be no transientstransmitted to the output terminals duringeither turn-on, turn-off, or bypassoperation.

Access to the AGC’s sidechain shall beprovided via a single 1/4" TRS femaleconnector. The ring connection shall bethe sidechain output and the tipconnection shall be the sidechain return.

The AGC shall be capable of operating bymeans of its own built-in power supplyconnected to 115V AC, 60Hz (230V AC,50 – 60Hz where applicable). The AGCshall be listed by UnderwritersLaboratories Inc. (UL) or other equivalentnationally recognized safety testingagency.
