So the NFL season is almost over. Only the Super Bowl re-
mains. For some fans, the season is already over since their
team is now sitting at home. It is amazing the allegiance some
people have to their teams. Some people bleed Green Bay
green and yellow or believe the only team is supposedly
America's team, the Dallas Cowboys. Of course, if you are
reading this outside the States, perhaps you live and breathe a
team like the New Zealand All Blacks or the Calgary Flames.
In the early church, people took their allegiance to cer-
tain leaders to an extreme. Paul chastised them for thinking
that the baptism of one community or the teachings of a cer-
tain leader were superior to the anything else in this new
movement of Jesus followers. He reminded them that there is
to be no division in Christ and that all things flow from Christ,
not from the leaders in the community. Those who follow Je-
sus are one body of Christ: a place where there is no room for
competition or condescension.
Sometime our stewardship efforts in a parish become
all about the parish. We seek to get people to do more stuff
and give more money and we lose sight of why we live a
stewardship way of life in the first place: Jesus. It is wonderful
to watch our parishes grow into more vibrant communities
that lead people to Jesus. We should rejoice to be in such a
parish family. But one day there will be no parishes and those
who have received his gifts freely and have followed him will
live with Christ as one forever. In your stewardship, always
keep Jesus as the main thing.
La temporada de futbol americano casi ha terminado. Solamente
falta el Super Bowl. Para muchos fanáticos, la temporada ya ha
terminado y su equipo no participará. La lealtad que mucha gen-
te demuestra por su equipo es increíble. Unos sangran los colo-

de nuestra motivación por vivir como discipulados corresponsa-
bles inicialmente: Jesús. Es maravilloso ser testigos al creci-
miento de nuestras parroquias y sus transformaciones en comu-
nidades que las llevan a Jesús. Debemos regocijarnos en nues-
tras familias parroquiales. Algún día no van a existir ningunas
parroquias, y los que han recibido los regalos libremente y le
han seguido a Cristo van a vivir con Él para siempre. En la co-
rresponsabilidad de usted, siempre guarde a Jesús como lo más
importante.

The light that is talked about in the first reading today was a light that was needed for the people to walk towards God. It is still needed today. God uses us to fill the world's abyss with the light of Christ. We become instruments of light by heeding Jesus' call to repent, which means reorienting our lives to live the way of Jesus. Christ helps us see that change is possible. Sit in Christ's light. Give your darkness to him to lessen. Recharged, spread that light as the fishers of people we are called to be. May 2017 hold many blessings for you and your family.

Jesús de arrepentirnos y transformar nuestras vidas para vivir como Jesús quiere que vivamos. Cristo nos ayuda a ver que el cambio es posible. Estén bajo la luz de Cristo. Denle su oscuridad para que la ilumine. Carguen energía, repartan la luz como pescadores de persona que somos llamados a ser.

LIVE THE LITURGY
Sometimes we get so accustomed to walking in shadows and even in darkness that we forget that there is a light that can illuminate our lives more clearly. That light is Jesus Christ. Have you ever been looking for something in a dimly lit room and when someone shines a light, you suddenly find what you seek? This is how the Gospel works. At first we may not realize that we need it but then when someone shares its good news with us it all becomes clear. Jesus invites us out of darkness and calls us to come after him.

– UNA NUEVA EVANGELIZACION Fundador, Padre Ignacio Larrañaga
Esta invitado a participar a Talleres de Oración y Vida. En estos talleres se aprenderá a orar en silencio y soledad como Jesús lo hacia; se tiene una comunicación mas personal con nuestro Padre Dios, se experimenta su amor que nos llena de paz, de alegría y fortaleza. Al sentirnos muy amados por nuestro Dios y Señor vamos naciendo a una nueva vida que nos hace capaces de amar y perdonar al prójimo y a nosotros mismos. Y eso es gratificante para nuestro espíritu. Para lograr toda esta gracia divina es necesario tomar en serio las practicas del taller y la perseverancia hasta el final. Los esperamos, Dios quiere manifestarle su amor, y su ternura, déjese amar por el. Solo El puede darle una Vida Nueva.

The first Sunday of each
month the S.H.A.R.E.
wagon will be placed
out near the rectory park-
ing lot entrance to the
church to collect canned
and dry foods for the Sat-
urday Meal Program. We
need each month 400-500
packages of top ramen and
40-50 cup of soup noodles,
cold and hot cereal, rice,
dry beans, pasta noodles
and sauce, canned fruit,
tuna, corn, vegetables and
peanut butter to distribute
to our guests on the third
Saturday. For some of our
guests St. Agatha Saturday
meal program is their only
source of food for their
family each week. That is
hard to believe but it's true.
It's a New Year. Fre-
quently in is this column
we make the suggestion
that one Sunday a month
that after mass you invite
someone from the mass
for fellowship and coffee
in the hall. So far we have
not had any takers. Trying
new things can be scary or
uncomfortable at first but
then once you make the
effort to try you discover
that it wasn't so bad and
then you begin to like the
feeling fellowship
brings to you and the other
person or persons. Don't be
to busy to reach and be a
blessing every now and
then for someone.

Help children communicate When children express that something is wrong at school or with other activities, it's often the job of caregivers to read between the lines to determine what's really going on. They might say "I'm bored" and need your guidance finding a better school-life balance or engaging in more challenging aca-demic work. Ask them to give examples and to help you understand what is going on. If the child is still being vague, remind them that they can tell you anything and that you'll listen with an open mind. As parents and care-givers, you have the opportunity to help kids deal well with negative feelings and challenges. And, if they are being mis-treated in some way, keeping an open line of communication with kids will enable you to be their advocate.

Understanding the Conversion of St. Paul
Question:
January 25 is the feast of the Conversion of St. Paul and the
end of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. What does
one have to do with the other?
Answer:
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity consists of eight
days beginning January 18 (the previous date for the feast of
the Chair of St. Peter) and ending on January 25, the feast of
the Conversion of St. Paul. The celebration was begun by
Paul James Wattson, a former Episcopalian priest who even-
tually became a Catholic priest. Suggestions for prayer and
education for the week are distributed each year at geii.org,
emphasizing a jointly chosen theme. The 1964 Vatican II
document on ecumenism, "Unitatis Redintegratio," gave a
great boost to the octave, so that today many Christians
worldwide promote and participate in the octave time of
prayer. The emphasis on both Peter and Paul aptly fits into
the rationale of the octave. Peter is seen as the source of unity
within the Christian tradition; Paul is highlighted due to his
vision of bringing all to Christ. The Week of Prayer for
Christian Unity is an ideal opportunity to pray for and pro-
mote respect, understanding, and, hopefully, eventual unity
among Christians.
