RESPONDING TO THE CALL Do we truly know the voice of Christ? Do we truly respond to the voice of our shepherd with our own distinctive voice? How often we attempt to imitate those around us, appropriating the response of another member of the flock to Christ. Perhaps we need to balance the image of being sheep of one flock with the image from the second reading, which tells us that we are all children of God. What child has precisely the same interaction with parents as his or her siblings? Instead, they frequently do and say things to distinguish themselves in the eyes of their parents. Whether we use the image of children or of sheep to understand our relationship with Christ, we believe that we are all known and called by name. With this great gift comes a responsibility: to respond to the call with our own distinctive voice, to take time to discern exactly what our call is, to determine precisely what the will of the Father is for each of us. RESPUESTA AL LLAMADO ¿Realmente conocemos la voz de Cristo? ¿Respondemos realmente a la voz de nuestro pastor, con nuestra propia y distintiva voz? ¿Con qué frecuencia intentamos imitar a los que nos rodean, apropiándonos de la respuesta de otro miembro del rebaño de Cristo? Tal vez la necesidad de equilibrar la imagen de ser ovejas de un rebaño con la imagen de la segunda lectura, que nos dice que todos somos hijos de Dios. ¿Qué hijo tiene precisamente la misma interacción con los padres como sus hermanos? Por el contrario, con frecuencia hacen y dicen cosas que se distinguen en los ojos de sus padres. Religious Education & Confirmation Registrations We will be registering for Religious Education Classes for those who have not received the First communion of the ages 7-13 on May 26th in the trailer from 9am to 1:30pm and Youth Confirmation ages 14-17 on Sunday July 15th in the trailer from 8am to 1:30pm registration will go through August and Classes beginning in the Month of September. This is a Two Year Process.

City of Gardena Notice Gardena has authorized a non-profit organization, Care for the Children, to paint address numbers on all residential curbs within the City. Care for the Children will provide all materials and labor for the service, which is estimated to be $15.00 per address. Since the City does not pay Care for the Children, they will be accepting voluntary donation from residents after the work is completed. Cash and checks will be accepted and payable to Care for the Children, with 20% of the net proceeds of your contribution donated to the Gardena Police Foundation. Care for Children will only Collect donation from 4pm to 7:30pm , Monday thru Friday and Saturday from 9am to 7:30pm . Please ask for Identification when they come to your house.

CARDINAL McINTYRE FUND FOR CHARITY ANNUAL COLLECTION

May 5-6, 2012

Since 1951, the Cardinal McIntyre Fund for Charity has of-fered hope for those in crisis situations throughout the Archdi-ocese of Los Angeles. On May 5-6, 2012, all parishes in the Archdiocese will take up this Annual Collection. Your contri-bution goes directly toward emergency needs for children, adults and families and provides one-time emergency help for food, utilities, medical, housing or funeral expenses. The goal of the Cardinal McIntyre Fund for Charity is service to the “neediest of the needy,” those for whom no other re-sources exist. Please be as generous as possible. Envelopes will be distributed at all Masses the weekend before the Col-lection. __________________________________________________

Desde 1951, el Fondo de Caridad del Cardenal McIntyre ha dado esperanza a todos aquellos en situaciones de crisis en toda la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles. El 5 y 6 de mayo de 2012, todas las parroquias de la Arquidiócesis tendrán la Co-lecta Anual. Su contribución va directamente hacia las necesi-dades de emergencia para niños, adultos y familias, y se ofrece ayuda de emergencia una sola vez de alimentos, servicios pú-blicos, médicos, de vivienda o para gastos del funeral. El objetivo del Fondo de Caridad del Cardenal McIntyre es de asistir a los "más necesitados ", aquellos para los que no exis-ten otros recursos. Por favor, sea tan generoso como le sea posible. Los sobres serán distribuidos en todas las misas el fin de semana antes de la Colecta Anual.
