    Present Perfect progressive

We use the present perfect continuous to talk about unfinished actions that started

in the past and are continuing now.

I have been baking this cake. (He estado haciendo este pastel)The present perfect

continuous is also used to express actions that are not finished and were

    progressive in the past.

She has been painting a picture the whole day. (Ella ha estado pintando un cuadro

todo el da)Here, she started to paint the picture and she has been painting for aperiod of time during the day, but in the moment of speaking she has not finished

    painting the picture.

    Present Perfect

The present perfect is formed by combining the auxiliary verb "has" or "have" withthe past participle.

I have studied. He has written a letter to Mara.We have been stranded for six days.

Because the present perfect is a compound tense, two verbs are required: themain verb and the auxiliaryverb.

I have studied.(main verb: studied ; auxiliary verb: have)

He has written a letter to Mara.

(main verb: written ; auxiliary verb: has)

We have been stranded for six days.(main verb: been ; auxiliary verb: have)
