VOCABULARIO
Regresión no lineal: potencial y exponencial. Consideramos en este apartado el ajuste a funciones no lineales. Concretamente vamos
a considerar, en primer lugar, una función potencial para relacionar las variables X e Y
y, en segundo lugar, una función potencial. En ambos casos se realizará una
transformación matemática para aplicar sobre el resultado obtenido un ajuste lineal.
AJUSTE POR UNA FUNCIÓN POTENCIAL.Disponemos de datos de una variable estadística bimensional (X,Y). Al representar el diagrama de dispersión observamos que la nube de puntos (ver figura), en lugar de indicarnos la existencia de una relación lineal entre las variables, muestra una relación de tipo potencial.

Para linealizar la función potencial tomamos logaritmos. Se obtiene así el llamado modelo log-lineal.
*log y = log a + b log x A diferencia de lo que sucedía con el modelo de regresión lineal, ahora el coeficiente de regresión b indica lo siguiente: b es el incremento porcentual esperado de la variable dependiente (Y) al incrementar en un 1% la variable independiente (X). Es decir, b expresa la elasticidad de la variable dependiente respecto a la independiente. ¿Cómo aplicamos ahora el método de Mínimos Cuadrados Ordinarios?

En el universo, el total de energía (cinética + potencial + térmica + etc.) permanece constante.
