Suma de quebrados de igual denominador
Regla:
Se suman los numeradores y esta suma se parte por el denominador común. Se
simplifica el resultado y se hallan los enteros si los hay.

Suma de quebrados de distinto denominador
Regla:
Se simplifican los quebrados dados si es posible. Después de ser irreducibles se
reducen al mínimo común denominador y se procede como en el caso anterior.
Método para encontrar mínimo común denominador (m.c.d.)
Se divide cada uno de los denominadores dados por su menor divisor; lo propio
se hace con los cocientes hasta obtener que todos los cocientes sean 1. El
m.c.d. es el producto de todos los divisores primos.

REDUCCION DE TERMINOS SEMEJANTES
Reducción de dos o más términos semejantes del mismo signo
Definición: Dos o más términos son semejantes cuando tienen las mismas letras
y están afectadas por el mismo exponente.
Procedimiento:
Para reducir términos semejantes con el mismo signo se suman los coeficientes
de todos los términos y se antepone, al coeficiente total, el mismo signo que
comparten, y a continuación se escribe la parte literal.
1. x + 2x.
Solución:
El signo común a todos los términos es el +. Los coeficientes de los términos son 1
y 2. La parte literal igual en todos los términos es x.
1 + 2 = 3;
x + 2x = 3x
2. 8a + 9a
Solución:
El signo común a todos los términos es el +. Los coeficientes de los términos son 8
y 9. La parte literal igual en todos los términos es a.
8 + 9 = 17;
8a + 9a = 17a.

Reducción de más de dos términos semejantes de signos distintos
Procedimiento: Para reducir un polinomio con más de dos términos semejantes y
con signos distintos, se procede así:
1) Se reducen a un solo término todos los positivos.
2) Se reducen a un solo término todos los negativos.
3) Se calcula la diferencia entre los coeficientes de los términos hallados en los
dos pasos anteriores.
4) El signo que precederá la diferencia hallada en el paso anterior será el que
tenga el coeficiente mayor en valor absoluto de los términos hallados en los pasos
(1) y (2).
5) Por último, se escribe la parte literal.

Reducción de un polinomio que contenga términos semejantes de diversas
clases
Procedimiento: Para reducir un polinomio con diversos términos semejantes de
diversas clases, se procede de la siguiente manera:
1. Se agrupan los términos semejantes de cada clase en un mismo paréntesis
2. Se reducen los términos semejantes
3. Se da la respuesta, ordenando el polinomio resultante
Nota: Recordemos que los términos semejantes son aquellos que tienen las
mismas letras y afectadas por los mismos exponentes

MULTIPLICACIÓN
Multiplicación de monomios
La multiplicación de monomios se realiza de la siguiente manera: Se multiplican
los coeficientes numéricos y si existen coeficientes literales en común en los
términos o monomios a multiplicar, el producto de ellos es el mismo con un
exponente que es la suma de los exponentes de los términos
Ejemplo:
4x2(2x4y) = 4(2)x(2 + 4)y
4(2)x(2 + 4)y = 8x6y
Multiplicación de un polinomio por un monomio Recordando la ley distributiva de la multiplicación: x(2x3 + 45) = x(2x3) + 45x x(2x3) + 45x = 2x4 + 45x Ejemplo: 3a2b(2ab + 4ca) = 6a3b2 + 12a3bc Multiplicación de polinomios Esta operación es similar a la multiplicación de un monomio por un polinomio, se aplica también la ley distributiva de la multiplicación: (x - 6)(x3 + y) = x(x3 + y) - 6(x3 + y) x(x3 + y) - 6(x3 + y) = x4 + xy - 6x3 - 6y Binomio al cuadrado Existe una regla simple para multiplicar un binomio por sí mismo, esto es la operación del binomio al cuadrado. Ejemplo: (x3 + 5)2 = (x3 + 5)(x3 + 5) (x3 + 5)(x3 + 5) = x3(x3 + 5) + 5(x3 + 5) x3(x3 + 5) + 5(x3 + 5) = x6 + 5x3 + 5x3 + 25 x6 + 5x3 + 5x3 + 25 = x6 + 10x3 + 25 De lo que se deduce que, para multiplicar un binomio por sí mismo, del ejemplo:
El primer elemento se eleva al cuadrado (x3)2 = x6;
Se multiplica el doble del primer elemento, por el segundo 2(x3)(5) = 10x3;
Se eleva el segundo elemento del binomio al cuadrado 52 = 25;

DIVISIÓN
División de dos monomios
Se divide el coeficiente del dividendo entre el coeficiente del divisor y a
continuación se escriben en orden alfabético las letras, poniéndole a cada letra un
exponente igual a la diferencia entre el exponente que tiene en el dividendo y el
exponente que tiene el divisor. El signo lo da la ley de los signos.

División de polinomios por monomios
Procedimiento:
1) Se hace una separación de cocientes, cada uno con su propio signo.
2) Cada término del dividendo se divide por el divisor, y procediendo de la
siguiente manera:
a) Se aplica la ley de los signos
b) Se divide el coeficiente del dividendo entre el coeficiente del divisor.
c) Se divide la parte literal del dividendo entre la parte literal del divisor,

Trinomio cuadrado perfecto
Definición: Una cantidad es un cuadrado perfecto cuando es el resultado del
producto de dos factores iguales.

Un trinomio cuadrado perfecto es de la forma general a2 + 2ab + b2 o a2 - 2ab + b2
y, es el producto de los factores (a + b) (a + b) = (a + b)2 ó bien (a - b) (a - b) = (a –
b)2; de tal manera que: a2 + 2ab + b2 = (a + b)2 y a2 - 2ab + b2 = (a - b)2
Procedimiento:
1. Se ordena el trinomio
2. Se extrae la raíz cuadrada del primer y tercer términos
3. Se halla el doble producto de las raíces obtenidas en el paso anterior
4. Si el producto hallado en el paso anterior es igual al segundo término del
trinomio y si el primero y tercer términos tienen igual signo, se trata de un trinomio
cuadrado perfecto y se factoriza como tal.
5. Se escribe dentro de un paréntesis las raíces cuadradas de los primeros y
tercer términos, separadas por el signo del segundo término, y el paréntesis
elevado al cuadrado.
Factorar o descomponer en dos factores:

Procedimiento:
Las expresiones de este tipo resultan al multiplicar dos binomios de la forma
(x+n)(x+m) que tienen las siguientes características:

Los términos no comunes son aquellos que al sumarse dan como resultado
el valor del coeficiente del término bx; es decir, igual a “b” y cuyo producto
