Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

In 1223, just two years before his death, Saint Francis of Assisi set up a living crèche, a replica of the manger in Bethlehem at the birth of Jesus. He preached

and prayed before the scene. His biographer, Thomas of Celano, says that in that moment Francis was “overwhelmed with love and filled with wonderful happiness.”

His contemplation of Jesus, the Word made flesh, drew him to experience the depth of God’s love.

We live in a troubled world beset by wars, violence, injustice, broken relationships, and illness. Beyond that, we do believe and are convinced that God loves us and walks with us in Jesus, his Son. As we know, God will heal us and

our broken world and bring us into the fullness of life. It is my hope that when you pray before the mystery of the Incarnate Word, as Saint Francis prayed, you will

be renewed in hope and confidence and be “overwhelmed with love and filled with wonderful happiness.”

May God bless you with a renewal of faith, hope, and love as we celebrate the birth of the Lord.

Sincerely yours in Christ,ARCHBISHOP OF CHICAGO

2017- Holiday Mass / Event Schedule

Drogie Siostry i drodzy Bracia w Chrystusie,

zawiodła go do doświadczenia głębi Bożej miłości.

Wasza nadzieja, Wasza wiara w amy ch siebie i będziecie „przepełnieni miłością i napełnieni wspaniałym szczęściem”.

Niech Bóg Wam błogosławi i w czasie, kiedy obchodzimy narodziny Pana odnowi Waszą wiarę, nadzieję i miłość,

Szczerze oddany Wam w Chrystusie, ARCYBISKUP CHICAGO

Isaiah proclaims truly good news to us! God’s coming brings not sadness, guilt, fear, wrath, or condemnation. No, God’s coming is a source of comfort and joy. Saying it once is not enough, for today’s readings are full of joy. Mary’s Magnifi-cat substitutes for our psalm today, and our second reading encourages us to rejoice, to give thanks and praise. This is the root meaning of the Greek word for eucharist. We are urged to rejoice and give thanks, because the coming of the Lord brings joy, healing, liberty, release, vindication. It

makes the very earth spring up with new life! Good tidings!

Rejoice

A SINCERE THANK YOU TO THE FAMILY OF ST.TURIBIUS

FROM THE ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

The Annual ST. VINCENT DE PAUL THANKSGIVING DISTRIBUTION was a huge success this year, in large part due to the help and generosity of so many of you.

Because of you, we were able to provide all of our families with a Turkey and all the trimmings. At this time, we would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who

made this evening possible.

None of this would have been possible without the hard work of our very own ST. TURIBIUS RELIGIOUS EEDUCATION STUDENTS, who are preparing to receive

the Sacrament of Confirmation. Early in the evening, they arrived to set up the tables in the Felician Hall. They went on to carry all the food that was being stored in the Convent and Rectory to the Felician hall and set it up on the tables for distribution to our families.

During the evening, they helped our families carry heavy bundles of food out to their cars, and then, at the end of the evening, they carried undistributed food back to our

Food Pantry in the Rectory and helped clean up the Felician Hall. When we say these kids worked hard, we mean it -- we distributed over a thousand pounds of food, and they

carried it all, set it up, and this is what made the evening possible. Others may worry about the problems with the young people of the world --- here, at St. Turibius, we don't worry because we know we have THE BEST. Thank you Religious Education Students

for your kind and loving hearts and your hard working hands.

We also have a huge debt of gratitude to you, the FAMILY OF ST. TURIBIUS, for your consistent help with donations of food and monetary gifts, which enable us to purchase much needed items, such as turkeys, for this distribution. You are the main support of

our organization, and your generosity has always been something that we can depend on.

Another great big thank you to "BINGO MIKE" and the ST. TURIBIUS BINGO PATRONS, for their very generous weekly donations of food. Mike set out the call for

food, and the bingo patrons responded in the most wonderful way.

Thank you to our FAMILY OF CLIENTS, for allowing us the honor and privilege of sharing our good fortune and our food with you, thereby enabling all of us to fulfill our

mission and have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner.

In closing, we would like to thank everyone who helped make this evening a huge success. The Thanksgiving Distribution is a vital part of our Mission to serve, and it is also a complex evening involving a great deal of grocery shopping and physical labor,

which we could never accomplish without everyone's help. Our favorite method of thanking you is to say.......

"God Bless You All, and, once again,we couldn't have done it without you"

Parish Mission Statement

We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in

us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out

Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God

by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal

call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by

the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent

and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we

believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,

forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with

us, know we are Christians by our love!
